Why can't people just sit and read books and be nice to each other? ~ David Baldacci; "The Camel Club" (2005) Background As a young child, Edna Stouffle appeared to live a normal, boring life in a normal, boring suburb of Boston. When she was seven years old, her parents got a divorce and due to her mother's nigh psychotic favoritism towards Edna's little sister Amber, her father got custody of both his daughters. The smaller but happier family did well for the next couple of years until one day when Edna was 10, her mother came for a supervised visitation. By the time the visitation was over, the former Mrs. Stouffle was dead, and Edna had been stabbed several times. Due to the tender age of the victim in question, news reports were profoundly vague about exactly what happened, but no charges were ever filed in the death. When Edna was 13, the Stouffles moved into Boston proper. While Amber thrived, Edna was much quieter, keeping her head down and her life quiet while she went through a great deal of therapy. In High School, she joined Drama club and chess club and that sufficed for apparently all of her socialization. With great focus and determination, she finished her undergrad in English Literature in three years, while taking some time to follow her bliss by attending comic and fantasy conventions throughout New England and even managed a couple of trips to SDCC. She's recently gotten a full ride scholarship to get her Master's in Library and Information Science at UCLA, and decided that there's no point in waiting, so she's starting with Spring semester! Hopefully the bright sun and warm sea air of the West Coast will be just what she needs for a fresh new start.
