As an infant her maternal grandfather sent her to live with a friend in Austin Texas who adopted and raised her. Most people think the reason for this is her yellow eyes and coloboma. That maybe her family in the middle east saw it as a bad omen or something. People that ask her never get a straight answer, ranging from “None of your business”, to “Holy shit what happened to my eyes!” followed by mock panicking.
