Asher is a Scots-Mexican fellow originally from the London area who relocated to California in his early 20s to attend Stanford University's graduate school for Mathematics. Since then, he's been a professional gambler, well-known (and alternately loved or despised in Las Vegas) for playing just about any version of poker that's on offer. He usually does terrible at roulette, people might notice, which suggests his winnings are pure skill, not luck.

For those in the know, he is a Disciple of the Order of Hermes, of House Fortunae. He's been Awake for over fifteen years, and is known to be particularly well-versed in the Ars Fortunae, of course, but also known for skill with Ars Mentis and Ars Conjunctionalis. He's never had an apprentice formally, but has offered tips and advice to young mages from the beginning. Being tied down to teaching doesn't appeal to him much, unless he had a really awesome student.

He's a very confident, charming sort of guy, though there's always some question about how deep it goes, and how much of it is a veneer. He also has a certain something about him that leads to wondering what's beneath that surface.
