Territory: North Park In the last couple of decades, local business groups and major corporations alike have begun to aggressively rebrand the area around the thriving Entertainment District as 'North Park', dredging up a mostly unused name from the distant past to give a classy veneer to what was merely a sea of ugly warehouses and parking lots as recently as the 1990s. The neighborhood's proximity to the Entertainment District and the University of Southern California, as well as its easy access to the Blue Line and Expo Line light rail lines at nearby Pico/Chick Hearn station means that the 'new' North Park has become one of the more rapidly transformed and developed areas in all of Los Angeles. Not only are luxury apartments and condominiums going up at an astonishing pace, there are even exciting plans to break ground on a new Stadium to draw even more tourists and money to Downtown, while happily compounding its already insane traffic. There are enough future plans in the works for skyscrapers and other mega complexes, that in a generation or so, it might have the same soaring skyline as the Financial District.
