Born in 1985 to a surgeon father and nurse mother, Sable St. James was in some fashion perhaps destined to follow their lead into the medical field. As a child, she was heavily focused on her studies, driven by both parental ambition and her own insatiable desire to know anything and everything, leading for a time to a childhood devoid of meaningful friendship and social contact. This led in her teenaged years to a dawning understanding of her own lacking, and what started as an insecurity -- that she did not understand and could not interact meaningfully with social cues and dynamics -- became its own drive: to turn her intense desire for knowledge toward this end, and resolve her own growing awareness of her loneliness.
Though the loneliness was resolved soon enough due both to gaining social confidence and the typical growth spurts and changes that turn "cute" into "pretty", the particular drive for understanding human behavior remained. Sable graduated high school and went straight to Harvard for undergrad, and then Johns Hopkins for post-grad. It was early into her post-grad career that her Awakening occurred, in the midst of an intimate night spent with a professor who had already become a mentor -- and would become one all the more after, as it was Sable's good fortune that the professor, an Awakened mage herself, recognized what was happening and took Sable under her wing to introduce her to and initiate her into the Cult of Ecstasy Tradition.
Now a fantastically successful Psychotherapist in her own right and having built a reputation for catering to those whose secrets are more sensitive (or, maybe, just more precious), she has come to Los Angeles to cater to her wealthy (and, growingly, famous) clientele more readily.
