"Hollywood's a place where they pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss, and fifty cents for your soul." Marilyn Monroe

Biography

Monti’s life has been entirely shaped by the circumstances of her birth; her mother, Aspen Miller, was a waitress at the Viper Room in the 90s who had an affair with famous actor Sunny Harrington who would later die before she was born, overdosing on heroin and ativan and alcohol in a penthouse suite in the Regency.

After his death, pregnant Aspen plastered herself all over the media claiming to be Sunny’s one true love, and that he was only married to his widow (starlet Tara Harrington, nee Chalk) for marketing and media purposes given they had started their careers co-starring together as teens.

Once Monti was born, her mother trotted her out with the sob story of how Sunny’s only child was suffering in poverty and how his last wish had been for her to be his heir. The legal battle with his late wife went on for several years very publicly, played out as much in the media as in the courts until finally a portion of Sunny’s residuals and estate were awarded to Monti in a trust. Which Aspen immediately started spending to build her own ‘brand’ as a reality TV star (She was a Real Housewife of Beverly Hills!) and pushed Monti out in front of the camera whenever possible as well including the first session of Big Brother Junior when she was 12 and got her cast on a teen drama called Surfs High at 15 as the ‘sweet one’ of the beach loving friend group.

That though is when she discovered from her new peers some of the pitfalls of having your mom manage your money - a subject she had always been kept in the dark about and doing a little digging not only found that her trust was empty but that her mother was spending Monti’s current income faster than she could earn it.

So, back to the courts, this time to request emancipation, in which Aspen painted her daughter as an ungrateful brat who had no idea the sacrifices she had made to support her and give her a decent life. After which Aspen left with essentially only her horrible agent (Larry Moss) as he only ‘parent’ or guidance and to try and figure out how to raise herself.

Now 23 she really isn’t much better off than she was then - Larry books her without really asking, and she does what he says - reality shows, B horror movies, she did get to go on an episode of a very popular period drama because she wanted to do some ‘real acting’ but her character died after being possessed (her acting at least was well received!)

Mostly these days she does cameos for grown men who have a crush on her 15 year old TV character, goes to parties and pretends she’s doing fine but… she’s not.

Monti wants to do great things but she knows she’s not the most talented, or prettiest or anything-ist thing in any room. All she’s got is a tragic backstory and all she’s ever known is how to use it to stay in front of a camera.

Long December, Counting Crows

A long December and there's reason to believe
Maybe this year will be better than the last
I can't remember the last thing that you said as you were leavin'
Now the days go by so fast

And it's one more day up in the canyons
And it's one more night in Hollywood
If you think that I could be forgiven I wish you would

The smell of hospitals in winter
And the feeling that it's all a lot of oysters, but no pearls
All at once you look across a crowded room
To see the way that light attaches to a girl

And it's one more day up in the canyons
And it's one more night in Hollywood
If you think you might come to California I think you should

Drove up to Hillside Manor sometime after two a.m.
And talked a little while about the year
I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower,
Makes you talk a little lower about the things you could not show her

And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe
Maybe this year will be better than the last
I can't remember all the times I tried to tell my myself
To hold on to these moments as they pass

And it's one more day up in the canyon
And it's one more night in Hollywood

It's been so long since I've seen the ocean I guess I should
