- This is a partial of the older version of The Nash Family for a section that is still a major work in progress.
A Westward Branch Takes Root (the 1930s)

While the Bone Gnawers as a tribe existed in both urban and rural areas, the Nash had typically been of the rural persuasion until the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl era of United States history. It was during this time that a notable member of the family, Betsy Nash, migrated from somewhere in the great plains to LA along with her pack and nearly a dozen kinfolk who'd been displaced from their livelihoods tied to farms and ranches suffering from the droughts. They didn't find much luck at first in the City of Angels as unemployment rates were skyrocketing. This was the period that Skid Row came to be and the Nash, while perhaps not remembered as such, were influential in protecting the "citizens" of that area from the city's aggressive policing of the growing homeless population.
Betsy quickly became enamored with the urban environment. When it became clear that the government's state-wide camp program was proving to be mostly ineffective, she supported the supported the building and growth of LA's Hooverville and made her own home and "hospital" there.

It was in her hospital that Betsy birthed her children, including a kinfolk son named Travis who eventually would be the grandfather of Valentine Nash (the current patriarch of the family in LA), in addition to caring for the needs of countless garou, kinfolk and even mortal humans when the city would have written them off.
Family history is unclear how and when Betsy Nash passed away. She was around to be introduced to her son's chosen mate but when Travis looked for her to help with the birth of his first son she could not be found. This was almost as if a hint of things to come because, by the turn of the twenty-first century, there was only a single Nash family left consisting of an older kinfolk and his son Valentine and even they left with Valentine returning sometime after David's death in the 2010s.
