Mara first caught the surfing worlds attention at just the age of seven, by the age of 14 she was owning just about every competition she was ever in. By the time she was 17 she was making a decent living at it. For the last several years she has been drifting between competitions around the world. She is well known in her world for turning down every team and endorsement ever offered her, and several have been thrown at her over the years.
She was born in L.A., but raised by an aunt in Hawaii.
