Instead of blathering about Jaz, here's some information about her cat!
What the hell is he?:
Animal familiar - housecat, long-haired polydactyl orange tabby. Like all familiars, he can talk through mindspeech to Jaz, and vice versa. Yes, he is absolutely snarking about you in private. He's a cat. Get used to it.
Can I pet him?
Ask the cat. He might be in the mood, he might not. Do not grope the cat without consent, thanks! Injuries from touching without permission are entirely your fault.
RP Hooks
- Hippy chick: Jaz presents as a stereotypical witchy white girl, with lots of crystals, a pentagram, and typically 'mystical' symbols all about her. Hippie clothes? Check. Blessed Be bumper sticker on her EV? Check. Lots of occultish silver jewelry? Check.
- Jaz and Hands: This well-known-within-the-culture TikTok duo is a woman (who we mostly know through voiceover) and an orange polydactyl long-haired tabby cat who make funny videos. A few of them have gone seriously viral, enough that she's made a fair amount of money and put it away to live on once the whole TikTok fad dies out. She's often filming Hands' antics, and has a leash and harness for him -- when he's not riding her shoulders. He's usually with her, though he seems to go unnoticed by most people unless they really pay attention.
- She's Here, She's Queer: She identifies as pansexual/romantic, and has been known to do TikTok videos with Hands from Pride events to raise money for local LGBTQ+ causes.
- Lefty: She's a political lefty who tends to do benefit videos for various causes and she and Hands have shown up at all kinds of civil rights rallies and protests over the past several years. It's not exactly shocking that the hippie chick is... well... kind of a hippie.
- Bean Juice: As someone with a literal addiction to caffeine, she's known at several Santa Monica coffee shops.
- Contrary Family Ties: She's the daughter of a military contractor named Malcolm Belmont, though she doesn't make this common knowledge. Might explain a few things about her politics (very anti-war).
- Ethics and the Spirits: Ethical interaction with spirits is important to Jaz. Having a Familiar is an ethical quandary that affects her. The ethics of magic itself is a huge topic that she will find endlessly compelling.
