Location: Rooftop - 2000 Hope

Date and Time: May 26, 2020 - 6:00 pm

Summary: A playful briefing

David gets contacted by the investigative Billie about the writing on his Patreon and Youtube about Pencor Textiles. So he arranges for an evening meetup on the roof of 2000 Hope, once he's told Billie is working for the Wus.

When Billie gets there, there are no people on the roof. Just a large black bird perched on the ledge, overlooking the city and the setting sun.

At first, she simply things she is early. A glance at her watch, adjusting the smart watch on her wrist with a sigh. One more glance around and while she thinks no one is looking, she takes off her heels momentarily. It's in this action that she notes the bird. Approaching, shoes in hand, she gets close enough to glance down from the bird's perspective. "Long way down." Billie offers, taking a step back.

David looks back at Billie, then goes stiff and... falls off of the ledge, going out of sight long enough to give Billie a fright, before swooping back up with wings extended, flying up to land on the ground in front of Billie.

Then invoking a Gift and another gift after that, he imitates his own human voice. "Hi. David Marcus. You emailed?"

The stiffens and falls, and she lets slip a "Oh shit!" Leaning to watch the bird drop, only to spread his wings. Blinking, she scoffs as the bird lands. Taking a step back from the bird, she takes a knee, peering at it closely. The gift evoked, she squints slightly. "That, was a dirty trick." Quietly, you can tell she's little envious. Unsure still, she hums softly. "I did email. I wanted to know if there was more you could tell me on what we discussed." Maybe, just maybe if it's a trick, this will trip him up.

David lets out a serise if trills and a couple croaks, unable to help but laugh. "You inspired me. Sorry." Though he'd be grinning in homid. "Alright. Well. I can't put on the website of course, but Pencor Textiles is definitely an arm of Pentex. And Penn and Family is a brand name that Pencor owns."

"That they're the ones who bought the business from Bundy is interesting. MAkes me wonder if they set him up to fail so they could buy out all his customers."

Billie gives a slow nod, and glances about because although she didn't hear the door pop open, one does not just ... talk to a bird. Deciding to sit down, she rocks back and sits down."That's what my boss thought." She confirms. "It could be be something l ike that, sounds like fucked up gentrification." Wrinkling her nose. "I think the Wu family owns it now. We're working with the the others, the ones out of town, trying to clear it out." Another pause, "He also mentioned something about influencers on social media being bait. Getting them young." She lets that trail off.

David flaps and follows along with Billie when she sits. "So the mess is yours. The Ratkin were wanting to track down Penn and Family. The Corax were going to help with that. We also can help you scout when you're ready to attack the banes. Wow that sounds bad. Billie was it?"

"One of the pack found out their daughter was watching inappropriate content." Billie nods to the bird, watching it curiously. "I'm sure he will appreciate any help from The Corax they are willing to offer." Even if he won't say it, Glass Walker that he is. Running fingers through her hair, "It is, Billie, yes. And what happened to the rats? They have a change of heart or ?" A small shrug as if to say, who knows? "It's probably worse than it sounds." Looping an arm around her bent knee.

David flaps. "Nah they're all in. They're ready to go fight Pentex on this. They sniffed out Pentex before we were even sure it was Pencor. From what I've heard, Sandy and the Skid Row pack are out of it, leaving it to you while they work on... what was it... a real mess on the 405 in the Umbra. As odd as it sounds."

Flaps. "We've got a bear ready to help too. I've never seen a bear fight. I don't think the Wyrm wants to see a bear fight."

A sideways grin to the bird. "Good, good, that's what I like to hear. Sandy wasn't too clear when she spoke to my boss. If you ask me it was some ..." Glancing to the door, before whispering, "Wolves snappin' at each other. But he spoke with ..." Billie wi nces slightly, unable to remember the man's name right away. "One of the other ones in Sandy's pack and he seemed to confirm it was all...copacetic." At mention of the bear fight, her brows raise and she laughs, "That is a sight that people don't really like to talk about. I'll pass too."

David turns his head side to side, mimicing looking around. Hopping closer to Billie, and then speaking very softly. "Of course it was. We all have rage. Sandy has rage. Tao has rage. You have rage. I have rage. I once made a toddler cry giving him his toy back. Rage is awful. But we do our best."

A faint smile, there is that urge to reach out and pat the bird, but it seems wrong knowing a human resides in there somewhere. "But I have, maybe this much rage." Holding up finger and thumb, to mimic something tiny sized. "Sometimes, I think some have ... limitless rage." A frown briefly touches her features, before she reaches habitually to adjust her watch. "Thanks for the info. If I come across anything, can I email you again?

David flaps. "Of course, You can text me as well. And you can come by the Sun's Bright Cafe. That's a place to find a lot of Corax. Candy, Lenore, or I can help you with the scouting of the warehouse. Now that we know Pentex is involved, I think that ups the risk of what banes are there. One of us going with a couple of you should be safe and productive."

Taking out her phone, she makes a quick note and nods. "I think you're right." Putting her phone back into her pocket with a small sigh. "I have to get back to work, but I will be in touch. The easiest way to get to me is my phone. I'm renting a place, but it's not home. Unlike /some/ people, I can just snooze on the rooftop." Billie jokes, as she begins to slowly rise and brush the dust off her clothing.
