Tascam Portastudio, track 3, Yucca Corridor, 2026
Side A  //  The Recording
The city hums with a hollow, synthetic frequency. Everyone is vibrating, but no one is actually playing music. I wander these fractured avenues not merely to feed the Beast, but to find the few remaining souls who still know how to bleed in acoustic.
Track 01
What You See

He does not cross a room so much as develop in it, the way an image comes up in a tray of fixer. Nothing, nothing, then entirely there. The stillness is what people notice first. That it is not restful is what they notice second. There is a shadow boxer's balance under the slouch, the weight always resting on the ball of one foot, and on the rare nights he decides to move quickly, the eye simply loses the argument.

Dark hair, badly cut, left to do as it likes. Heavy lids over eyes that track a half second slower than they should. The leather jacket is older than most of the people in the room and keeps cold rain, wet asphalt and dried tobacco somewhere in its lining. Across his back, on a strap repaired three times and never replaced, rides a hard case scuffed down to the grain. Inside it is an Ottoman oud with the bowl worn pale where his forearm has rested for longer than he will say.

He is beautiful in a way that is inconvenient for everyone, including him. He appears not to have noticed.

Track 02
What He Wants
The analog scholar

His quarrel with the century is not nostalgia, it is a question of resolution. Digital sound decides in advance which parts of the world you will not miss, and then throws them away. He has spent longer than he admits learning to hear exactly those parts. So he keeps the old machines alive: vacuum tubes brought up slowly on a variac, capacitors replaced by hand, one lamp and a soldering iron and no other light in the room. When the amplifiers are working, he reads. Cyrillic mostly, Russian prose he translates line by line and never finishes, on the theory that a book you finish is a book you have stopped listening to.

The connoisseur of sorrow

Feeding is not appetite for him, it is listening. The Sight gives him the emotional weather of a stranger from across a street, and the manicured blood of the hills reads like a compressed file: loud, bright, nothing underneath. So he works the Yucca Corridor instead, where the grief has not been mastered for radio. A woman on a cracked curb at four in the morning carries more of this century in her than any room in Elysium. He takes very little. He asks something first, and then he listens to the answer, which is the part that unsettles anyone who notices it.

Track 03
What They Say
Rumours are free to use. None of them are confirmed, and that is the point.

01 He held a court appointment in a Camarilla city back east, and left it without asking anyone. He changes the subject

02 There is one reel he will not play. Some say it is a Kindred's last hour. Some say it is only his sire's voice, saying nothing in particular. Still unplayed

03 He has declined an invitation to Elysium three times. Politely, in writing, by hand. Probably true

04 Every instrument he sells is flawless. Every instrument he keeps is broken. Ask him

05 He can tell how a mortal will die from the interval they hum when they think nobody is listening. He has never denied it

"You are not sad. You are compressed."
"Play it again. Worse."
"I do not want your best night. I want your third best."

Only what a stranger could reasonably notice from across a bar. The rest is on the grid.

Track 05
Ways In
Six doors. You do not need an introduction to use any of them.
Collectors
The Analog Coven
Rare pressings, reel to reel, tube amplifiers, anything with a physical form and a serial number. Bring him something genuinely old and he will clear his night for you without pretending otherwise.
Musicians
Strings of the Levant
Ottoman modes bent into late night jazz, played in cellars that hold forty people badly. Session players, singers, Toreador aesthetes, and anyone who has ever been paid to be beautiful on a stage.
Predators
Resonance and Vintage
If your character reads auras, cultivates a palate, or holds firm opinions about what refinement actually is, he will argue with you until sunrise and enjoy every minute of losing.
Wanderers
Gutter Philosophy
A cracked curb, an unlit cigarette, and no interest whatsoever in who is currently winning the Anarch argument. If you are avoiding the same meeting he is avoiding, sit down.
Favours
Bring Him Something Broken
A dead amplifier, a warped record, a soundboard with a crack running through it. He repairs things and refuses payment, which means you will owe him something he has not named yet.
Occultists
Something to Translate
Cyrillic, Ottoman Turkish, an old hand in a script nobody at Elysium wants to admit they cannot read. If your document needs a reader who does not gossip, he is the quiet kind of famous.
Track 06

05Le Pas du Chat Noir // Anouar BrahemThe oud, alone, near dawn

Side A is his. Side B is a suggestion. Cut it if it is not his.
Track 07
Out of Character
What I am here for
Slow scenes. Atmosphere over plot. Music, repair benches, long conversations that go nowhere on purpose, and quiet menace that never has to raise its voice. Teoman works best as the person your character keeps running into and cannot quite place.
Use him
Background colour, a favour owed, a rumour source, a translator, or the thing that goes wrong in your scene. Feel free to have heard of him. Feel free to owe him money. Ask before anything permanent, and fade to black wherever it needs to fade.
Reach me
Page me on the grid or leave a +mail, whether or not our characters have met. Timezone and usual hours: [fill in]. If I am idle, I am probably in a scene somewhere and will answer late rather than not at all.
