Blue Meanies

Participants: Jason

Storyteller: Nate

Location: Elysian Park

Date and Time: July 29 2020

Summary: Threatening drug dealers doesn't always end well.

Elysian Park is one of Los Angeles's oldest and largest parks and within its great area is some housing, sufficient for a couple thousand residents. It used to be the location of many more specifically Chavez Ravine's Little Mexico community but that was torn down and replaced with Dodger Stadium. Today it's also the home of Los Angeles's Police Academy, the gunfire of which can often be heard from the academy's training range).

During the day it's popular with joggers, lowriders, footballers, BBQers, pinata-smashers, confetti egg-breakers, etc. At night it's popular with cruisers, dudes on the DL, and other nocturnal sorts.

It is mid-afternoon ish, maybe 4-5 PM, and the sky is overcast. It is still warm but the sun only comes and goes in patches, meaning that while there's still a handful of joggers and runners and such around, there are fewer of the clusters of people sitting on the grass doing whatever.

One cluster that does still hangout here though is just over by a clump of trees thattaway. A white woman in her mid-thirties wearing a long rainbow-hued skirt and cream kaftan is accompanied by three others. They're talking, one is strumming a guitar, and there are frequent bouts of laughter from their conversation.

Having been watching her the last couple of days and trying to memorize her patterns, Jason is currently sitting on a bench nearby and fiddling with his phone. At some point, he took numerous pictures and those who approach her to score. They may end up being corpses soon, and thus this just creates an iventory of evidence for him. Finally, he rises up and makes his way over, dressed in a pair of designer ripped jeans and a black shirt, along with a light weight button down shirt with a hood on it. He is looking casual and comfortable with one hand in his pocket, the other swinging back and forth with an Apple Watch on his wrist and a rainbow colored wrist band attached to it.

'Pattern' is probably a little too regular; Sienna's hours are varied, but she's usually here by the late afternoon, chilling and chatting and making a few sales. She and her friends glance up as Jason wanders over. All smiles and casual hellos, the guy playing the guitar continues to strum idly, picking notes without a real tune. But hey, at least it isn't Wonderwall.

Blowing some of his long black hair away from his blue eyes, Jason offers up a friendly smile, lifting up his hand upwards to wave in return, showing off that rainbow watchband. "Hey guys." He says in that raspy voice of his that is familiar online in certain gaming circles. He's famous for video games. Maybe someone will give him a pass for his celebrity. As his eyes lift up to Sienna, he gives her an easy smile. ".. You're Rainbow Dash?" He says a bit coyly.

"So awesome," Sienna responds to Jason with a smile. Her voice carries a local Californian accent, her tone lazy and relaxed. "Come on and sit, we've room for more," she adds, gesturing vaguely to spaces between her friends - his observations will have seen plenty of other folk settle for a bit in those spots.

As he eases down next to them, Jason gives a quick glance over at the others, giving another quick smile. "Thanks for the invite. I can't stay long though, but .. um.. I was talking to a friend who told me you had the hook up on blue meanies." He says softly, a bit shyly, like this was his first time buying drugs.

"Close enough," Sienna murmurs in affirmation. She doesn't hide that she is selling shrooms, though she does cock her head slightly at Jason. "You're not a cop, are you?" she enquires, as if asking the question is enough.

"Do I look like a cop with these noodle arms?" Asks Jason with a soft laugh as he gives a wiggle of his arms a bit. ".. Are you a cop?" He asks as his brows lift upwards. "I hope not or this would be embarrassing.."

There's a round of laughter from all those sat with Sienna at the notion of her being a cop. She seems to relax a tad, her smile warm. "Hell no," she promises, shaking her head. "So what is it you need, honey?"

"Just looking for some shroomies. Friend said he scored some new strand. He said it made him feel like he was glowing." Jason says with a soft laugh. "That has to be some kinda high if he's talking like that." He runs a hand back through his dark hair, pushing it bacck. ".. And I could really relax after finals. Know what I mean?"

There's a frown from Sienna when Jason mentions a friend who felt glowy. "I don't have anything like that," she tells him, sounding almost offended. "I don't think I can help you, friend. Maybe you're better off going elsewhere." There's a shift in the atmosphere; from casual open friendship to something near to hostility.

Sliding his hand out of his pocket, Jason has a wad of Benjamin's in his grasp. "Are you sure? He told me to find Rainbow Dash and I just got paid." He says with a friendly smile to her. He flips through the bills slowly, easing out at least three of them.

"He didn't buy anything like that from me," Sienna asserts again, eyeing the bills but remaining resolute. "Time to move on, friend." The one playing the guitar stops, and the three of them sat there with Sienna eye Jason as if considering removing him bodily. Two look fit enough to make a go of it, at least.

As he pushes himself upwards to his friend, Jason gives a long stretch of his body, letting the front of his shirt hike up a bit to reveal the handle of a revolver sticking out the front of his pants before it falls back down to cover it. He turns his eyes towards the two boys, flashing them a slight look, followed by a hint of teeth before he wiggles out a fourth and a fifth Benjamin. "Hand it over." He says as his smile drops and that warm fuzzy feeling is replaced by a Thunder Cloud. "Take the money and enjoy the rest of your day. You don't want to hear what my 'or else' will be."

The rainbow-dressed woman frowns, shrinking back from Jason as he puts on his rar face and flashes that hint of gun. "You need to leave here. It's not safe," she tells him, and her words seem to have an impact that goes beyond a simple statement. She does gesture to her friends to remain sat, though.

As he feels a stirring creep up within him, Jason finds himself with a tightness in his chest. His eyes give a quick dart left to right, followed by a low, wheezing shudder from between his lips. He takes a few steps back from her, crumpling his hand over the wad of bills before they are shoved into his pocket. "You're going to have a really bad day." He rasps out to her before he starts off quickly as he feels worry punch him in the stomach. He'll feel safer in his car.
