2020-05-22 TPC: Information, a map, and a mission
Information, a map, and a mission
Participants: Snake, Artaud, Lowel, Liam
Location: The Bawn - Training Area
Date and Time: May 22 2020
Summary: Snake shares some info learned from a Corax, about clouds and highways
This cave leading off from the railway tunnel is sufficiently wide and tall to host a dozen Garou in Crinos whilst still leaving enough room to swing a wolf by the tail. The natural rock has been smoothed out somewhat by decades of claws and effort, and though the main weapon store is beyond the cave itself, blunted practice weapons are stored in racks, and the floor is marked out with circles in white paint to denote sparring areas.
In addition, there is a set of two-tiered seating set up on boxes and benches, for times when members of the Sept wish to observe fighting ongoing or a physical challenge being met, with a large whiteboard leaning to one side keeping lists of those willing to train, and also to heal.
With the moon full, a lot of the Sept's Garou are on the Bawn and away from fragile things like vehicles, buildings and people. The training room has a few people in it, but in one of the corners is one of the biggest. Snake - Keeper of the Lands, downright massive and almost ugly enough to be in Glabro - has a big map of LA spread out where no-one's likely to tread on it. He's got a permanent marker, and seems poised to use it on somewhere west of the Bawn.
Artaud has managed to stumble onto the scene, perhaps not due to anything in particular, but he has wandered into the training area because he heard movement, or smelled it instead. The lupus, trotting his way inside with what appears to be a large log of some sort. One of those sticks that they go swinging around. The Lupus cheerfully moving to deposit it onto the training wrack with only some tooth marks. Not enough to write home about at least, even as he looks around. Almost immediately, the smell of paper and the site of something unusual in the bawn has the Lupus turning his attention then to a map- one he is wandering up on. Tail pressed low, wagging slowly underneath as the beast considers trying to get a much closer look. Almost pointing with his nose alone betraying that curiosity and focus.'.
Lowel has been wandering around looking for Tig or Artaud. Spotting the later and heading over to see what he is so intent on. "Hey guys, whats going on here?" A bit mor verbaly curious as he approaches
Snake looks round at the sound of voices. "Hey," he rumbles to Artaud and Lowel. "Got word of another thing we need to look into." He focuses on the map again, and moves round it to give the others a view. He points at the first location, before moving his finger down the line to the second. "On the four-oh-five, between Santa Monica Boulevard and Venice Boulevard. The senior bird reckons there's a cloud on the freeway in the Umbra, some kinda smog thing." And then, with his tongue sticking out of the corner of his mouth, he marks where he just pointed at with the permanent marker. "I need to get a map laminated and stuck up somewhere," he grumbles.
Artaud for his part seems confused by the worlds offered then, Artaud just sitting back and down, and already the bones are cracking, as what soon was a black furred wolf, is a hobo man, and the overly shaggy sort just looks up from his spot on the ground. It takes a momment, but there he is, as he offers aloud, "Smog? Alive? Moving slowly? Through the wind? The Umbra? Speak?" He'll inquire as he leans forward, his eyes shifting slightly then as he tries to consider the map. "Drawing big smog cloud then?"
"Another thing? I didnt know there was a before thing." Lowel takes a seat close to the big man with the map and tries to see whats going on. Following the finger guide from one place to the other and nods. "Is it a recon mission to the Umbra?" A hint of interest hiting the tone. As Artaud shifts he smiles and waits for imput before looking at Snake for answers.
"It was there when the bird saw it, and he got pointed to it by a spirit, so if it's moving it ain't moving fast," replies Snake to Artaud. "Don't know much more than that. First job is to spread the word, make sure folks know there's something as might need dealing with - and yeah, the map's going to get black drawn on when we get word of new things." And then, to Lowel, a wry smile. "This is LA. There's /always/ five dozen things as need taking care of, and only a few of us to do it. But yeah, a recon mission to the Umbra is probably what's gonna be called for, give us some idea of what we're actually looking at."
Artaud doesn't know what to make of this revelation then as he moves to rub at his chin slowly then as he moves to shift in his spot, sighing softly then, "Good to know. Good to hear. Glad others looking. Doesn't like running into big clouds." He'll consider then even as his eyes shift to look at Lowel, "Always problems, is noticing. Depends on how big looking yes? Thinks this.. sounds big? Bigger." He hesitates then, "How scout big thing? Learn more about it? If is big, can see far? Or close?"
Lowel smirks and his back straightens with ease. "Count me in, I am all in for a recon mission when its called." Seems this wolfs ready to go. "I can test out my shades on the LA umbra wall." He pulls out of pair of sunglasses that would not be out of place in Top Gun. A gift from the spirits on a home mission, it just makes it easier to slip into the Umbra.
Snake shrugs to Artaud. "I don't know," he replies. "The bird didn't want to get too close, flying solo as he was." And then to Lowel, "Hey, Mr. Ray-Ban, calm yo tits. No-one's going anywhere just yet. We prioritise stuff around here - we have to - so wait until the mission's called."
"Sounds dangerous. Dangerous. Need good scout. Someone who can run fast. Someone.. Artaud!" Artaud exclaims then with some excitement as he claps his hands together, moving to hop up then, but almost falling onto the map from clumsiness. He manages to catch himself and straighten up, brushing himself off, even as he glances aside to Lowel again, offering a great big grin, "Get see new sights! And uh.. dangers." He repeats then as if to push that point home before looking to Snake, that awkward goofy smile still there, "Consider throwing bird in? Good test. Fun test. If comes out, is great! If not.. uh.. will sing song of people. Many prayers."
Lowel blushes a bit and runs a hand through his hair. "Sorry, just a bit eager to get out there ya know?" Then Artaud gets just as worked up and Lowel reaches out to help steady the excited man. "New things are great, but need to be careful." He listens a bit longer and blinks. "Wow, take it back a notch. We wont throw anything in even if the songs of the people are amazing, lets not set things up to need them sung."
Liam is quiet in his approach because he's on bare feet, padding on into the training room where he here's voices that aren't he grunt and growls of wolves fighting. Curiosity drags him in and blue-green eyes sight the conspirators with a crinkle of crow's feet, "Hey, dudes," he fingerguns and then approaches a bit closer, "What've we got goin on? Need help or you guys got it handled?"
Snake smiles at the general enthusiasm, but Artaud's words have him wincing. "Yeah," he says, "Let's throw the bird in, that way no-one comes to tell us about this stuff ever again. Sounds like a great plan to me, right? Or maybe we just accept that the bird has a job to do and he did it, and we take over from here." Then to Lowel, "No worries, I know how you feel, especially with Luna as big as she is. Thing is, I've seen more wolves lost to lack of planning than anything else." And then Liam makes his presence known, and Snake looks up. "Hey, boss. The senior bird brought word of some kinda cloud in the Umbra, on one of the freeways. I marked it out on the map so's folks can see what's up."
"Eh? Seems alright. Seems okay. I mean.. yes.." Artaud murmurs then as he looks somewhat apologetic, but then he is just eager then, quick and fast. "Keep planning then yes? Will just follow plan. Run in right places. Above this ones place. Hunt place. Run first, chase, learn, that all needed." Artaud murmurs, even as he steps aside to give Liam a bit of room, a curious expression on his face.
Lowel relaxes as it seems everyone is on the same page or at least in the same book. "Its getting easier to understand your train of thought Artaud. Been working with Tig on communicating?" He sounds proud of the wolf born. His attention is shifted as Liam arrives and he is offered a respectful nod. "Just talking about what moves need to be made."
Liam listens to the words that come from Snake, Artaud, and then Lowel. He folds arms over his chest and considers each in turn for another moment. "First and foremost, lets make sure all of ours know to avoid that freeway, don't need anyone getting effected by some bullspiritus. Then proceed with the scouting efforts, make sure our Ragbashes and Uktena know in particular please. I'd like to hear what we learn as soon as we learn it and we can figure out what we're doing from there. Perhaps it's a spirit, and it needs help, don't lead with your claws brothers."
Artaud sighs then as he nods in slowly in response to Snake, "Good yes? Is good idea. Great idea. Will run fast. Doesn't like claws, so is great canidate! Not good at researching." He murrmurs then before he then offers to Liam then, "So tell about big cloud? Big smog? Big thing? Will go yell and howl? Is okay?"
Snake nods to Liam, then to the other two. "Caught that? We need to spread the word to avoid the four-oh-five between Santa Monica Boulevard and Venice Boulevard," he says. "I'll put the map up on the platform outside." And then a nod to Liam, with a hint of a smile. "Yeah, I gotta say, as an Uktena Ragabash I'm real interested in this one. But that's pretty much all the information I got now."
Lowel is in total agreement with the Alpha. "Claws and teeth mess up more then they solve when they are the go to. Getting the word out is an important first step. We got this." He eases a bit as things are made clear and instructions are given. "When a mission is set make sure you pair with someone who is a good information gatherer?" These words aimed at Artaud.
"Working. Speaking with all sorts. Learning. One step. One time." Artaud then finally offers to Lowell then as he steps back and hums softly then, "Is great mission gatherer! Er.. info? Yes? Yes." He'll muse further then as he sighs softly, "So point at map? Wave at map. Draw attention to map? Can do that! Is good.. uh.. map.. pointer?" Artaud comments before he snickers then. He'll take a step then as he moves away from the group, eager to spread word!
Snake reaches out to retrieve the map, then rises to his feet. In a cavern sized for Crinos, he doesn't look overly short. "Right, I'm gonna go put this map up where we can use it," he says. "Catch you all later."
Liam grunts softly and nods to Snake, "Thank you," and then he gives the rest a broad grin, "Good job guys, keep up the vigilance."
