Summary: An introduction
Dr. Nash Smith just left for London, leaving Haruka Watanabe mentorless. Jason Magnum just landed in LA, after having been graduated by his mentor. Enyo Carver just got tossed out of the Ascension Lodge, and has found her way here, in the comfortable lounge of the Glendale Tool Company.
Seated at a table is a cruffy man in his... well it's hard to tell if he's old or just worn. He looks vaguely nordic in a way in his features, though his face is worn by age and rough treatment. He has white sideburns, and a white crew cut to go with it. He's dressed in what looks like faded Army surplus camouflage from the 80s. One hand holds a mug of coffee, the mug reading "How about a nice cup of shut the FORTEAN up?"
The other hand taps rhythmically on the table. However that hand is made of what looks like aluminum. Resting beside it is the leather driving glove he usually wears over it.
He looks to the arriving young technomancers through his left eye, the right patched over in a black patch, and speaks with a gravely voice. "Name's Doctor Dirk Broadstreet. Have a seat, kids."
Magnum moves over to take a seat, wearing some business casual with a smile. "Honor Sir, Jason Magnum" he offers with a small nod and finally sitting down. Looking over to the others
Enyo sits down wearing a olive jumpsuit, fat goggles resting on her blue hair as she looks at Broadstreet. "Dude you look badass, probably could of used you in that Avatar movie. Kind of look like Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch. You drinking napalm, sir?", grinning and looking at the cup. Enyo wasn't kicked out of the Lodge for not having a mouth.
Haruka just got dropped off by a Ferrari, dressed super casual in a t-shirt and sweats. She just stares at Dirk, smiling faintly to the others, and finds a table to sit on, keeping a little distance from Dirk. "Hi. I'm Haruka Watanabe. Um... what's going on?"
Dirk nods to Magnum, after finishing a lnog sip of coffee. The mug is put down, and he laughs at Enyo's question. "I like you. Enyo Carver, bani Xaos bani Hermes is it? Welcome. We don't get many like you here, they tell me. Let me know if I FUBAR anything for you." Watanabe he considers a moment.
And then he stands, resting that metallic hand on the table. "Welcome to the Phantom Current. Dr. Harold Montague's secret project to bring together all the best underground scientists, engineers, hackers, and miscellaneous technolotical operators of the Traditions, and let you work as a team."
HE paces a little, stopping in front of Haruka. "You've been hidden in your garage playing with robots." Then in front of Enyo. "You've been flouting the rules." And finally Magnum. "You've been learning to travel. Which is good. I've spent a career in the Hollow Earth, until I had one more run-in with a Dero than I could stand."
With a grin, he holds up his cybernetic arm. Skeletal, and as obviously dextrious as it is metallic. "So I got retired here, and you all are my project. The Glendale Tool Company is the Phantom Current's front, and we're going to get to work. Any questions? so far"
Magnum nods "I am honored to be apart and hope to be an asset with my knowledge and resources, and very happy to be apart of a competent team" looking to Enyo and Haruka with a nod "Though I am a bit curious with the goal of the team... what Dr Montague aim for us to do and accomplish"
Enyo smiles, looking to Magnum and then Haruka, before turning her attention to Dirk. "Yes sir, that is my name. I have no questions at this time. Ready for orders.", strumming the table and eager to do something for the team.
Haruka goes wide-eyed when Dirk comes right up to her, and she swallows hard before giggling. "Yeah, what kind of work?" She then leans back once let go, leaning back, sighing deeply.
Dirk walks back to where he was seated before, and shrugs. "Damned if I know what you're going to do. I'm too old for this. I'm a risk every time I go to the store these days with this arm. Forcibly retired. I'm going to live through you guys, but they won't tell me yet."
He sits. "In the meantime, keep your noses clean, and try to check in with me. Something's going on. I just don't know what. We're the misfits, us four."
Magnum nods "Alright." looking to the two others "I am Jason Magnum, I own and operate Magnum Arms, a small arms manufacture and customization company. I done some field research and archeology and of course know my way around mundane guns." Introducing himself and offering what he thinks he can add to the team
"Enyo Carver, bani Xaos.... also a blood mage.", scrunching her nose, and showing off the collection of scars up her forearms. That's why she was a misfit, or at least one of the reasons. "So we're like the A-Team now. I can dig it."
Haruka winces when Enyo shows her scars, but the comment amkes her giggle. "I'll tell you guys a secret, if we're really going to go on missions together. I have an Alanson power-armor hardsuit. Designed and built by Iteration X, but this one is mine. It's older than I am, so it's out of date. But... it's mine and I can bring it out if we need it and stuffs. For smaller missions, Magnum's guns probably work better."
Dirk starts tapping at the table again. Considering Magnum. "Sounds useful. You'll have to tell me about your work sometime. Have you published anything?" Enyo. "Blood is powerful in ways we don't fully understand. Just don't get sucked down the Tremere path, young lady." And finally Haruka he grins at. "Well damn. What I'd have given for one of those. Might have saved my arm."
He then kicks up his feet and sighs. "Well, class dismissed. I'll be in touch when I get orders from above. Hell if I know what it's going to be though."
Magnum looks to Enyo "So I don't know how to fly so not Maddog... I am not good with lying so... not Face... I can drive some but... I doubt I can pull off BA.... so Hannibal?" grins a bit to her. He nods to Dirk "I have published three papers with support from Dr Normal, sir" then looking to Haruka "What modifications you done? What wiring and power plant it using? Battery pack? Generator? Armaments? Materials...." looking to her "You... have .. got to show it"
Enyo scratches the back of her head as she listens, "I love talking this stuff, y'all. But I'm gonna be need some remedial classes. Like the Lodge mostly deals with sleeper tech and mundane stuff. It would help if I can start learning about advanced technology so I can actually assist the team.", offering a pout.
Haruka smiles to the others. "A-Team... um... I'll be the one with the robots." she giggles. "And yeah I'll like... I'll invite you guys to my lab. We can have pizza. You included, Dr. Broadstreet, if you want. And don't worry Enyo, like.. I didn't do college either. You'll be fine."
