Summary: Lenore is answering all of Alexa's question as to what she found.
The light cloud cover and slight drizzling rain isn't enough to chase away the feeling of the Gibbous Moon bristling the hairs on the back of the Galliard's neck. She's at the tail end of a long sequence of large moons, and like the day before has spent a good chunk of it inside, working on art. Still, business needed to get done... Alexa takes a hit off of a CBD cart to steady herself. The woman has olive skin with dark hair, a toned and androgynous figure, dark brown eyes. In her lightly calloused fingers she's holding a smartphone. That morning, she sends out a quick message:
>(Unknown Contact): Hello! My name's Alexa; I'm a friend of David's. >(Unknown Contact): We just had a chat, he said you might have a first-hand account of the recent story he's working on? >(Unknown Contact): You can find my at my Studio apartment here: (Address) It will be room 106, second floor, last door on the right. >(Unknown Contact): BTW If you see Candy, could you tell her Alexa sends her regards? Thanks. <3
With that sent, Alexa goes to the window of her studio apartment, unlocks it, and throws it open. She reaches out a hand to check that the wind isn't blowing the light rain into her window, establishes that it isn't, nods to herself, and then sits down to get to work on her commission queue.
Lenore easily finds the apartment and flies in through that opened window. Once she is perched upon a chair, she shifts into her homid form, stretching her long arms and legs a bit before settling down in the chair. "Sorry if I kept you waiting. I flew over from Skid Row. So. What did David mention to you? I want to make sure to not end up repeating. Or did he just say we should speak?" Her hands soon smoothing out her black pants glancing down for a moment before looking back up to Alexa.
Alexa doesn't seem surprised at all when a bird lands in her studio and shifts on her couch. She glances out the window, and then closes it and draws the blinds to be sure, though her apartment is facing a brick wall - it's a fairly redundant precaution. "There's been grey masses found at Elysium Park," the Garou says, sitting back down and looking at Lenore. She's got a slightly animalistic quality to her eye movements, the kind of look that tends to upset mortals. It's fairly marked right now with her Auspice moon. "They've killed a person already. David tells me that you checked the site in the Umbra and they were-" she pauses, making a worried face. "Glowing." "He also says you drank the victim's eyes."
Lenore offers a nod twice before she responds, "That is all correct yes. And I did drink both of the victim's eyes. From one, I saw hunger, like immense hunger. Then true confusion, something about light. Reaching for this light and it grew too bright and too strong. Then this fungus I found upon the body creeping up over the eyeball with a faint bioluminescence that was blinding up-close. From the other eye it was warmth, feeling all the way down to my bones for the first time in years it felt like. More a feeling of wellbeing, not of warmth to be clear. This light was comforting, whispering secrets. 'Bring the light. But how can you bring something out from the inside? Better to let it grow on the skin until it grows bright enough." There is a pause, "Sandy asked me if I perhaps saw whatever was growing on the man when I drank from his eyes. Which is honestly very possible. Given those odd thoughts. I am thinking it is something that possesses others. I know Sandy and her friends are laying out some ideas for how to deal with this. I am still trying to get in touch with those that linger in Skid Row so they can try and keep the homeless away from there. Last thing we need is it to potentially possess move people and have... whatever this is spread over more of the city."
Alexa's lips press together. The more Lenore goes into the description, the more furrowed her brow gets. "I do not like that," she says at last, sitting back in the rolling chair and considering Lenore. "I do not like that at all." Her voice is alto, and right now it's a bit firm. "I'll have to send out word to keep folks clear of Elysium Park." A slight shake of her head. "Do you feel like the man might have already been possessed by the grey mass before he died? Is that what 'bring it out from the inside' and 'let it grow on the skin' means?" Her eyes linger on Lenore, thoughtful, concerned.
Lenore sits back as she ponders a bit before she responds, "I don't think he was already possesed but he may have been. Given that hunger and confusion. I imagine if you give a mushroom sentience, they would feel the same perhaps. As fot the bring it out from the inside and let it grow on the skin. I imagine it is referring to the mold. So... I retract, it is highly possible he was already infected and what I heard were the last thoughts of the host. Unsure exactly where he could have wandered from as well. And I agree. We need to keep all clear of Elysium Park. Especially with how often they have baseball games over there. The tourists could potentially pick it up and take whatever this is home with them. Which is an even more terrifying thought to consider."
Alexa's brows furrow. She leans in. "Do you think we need to get the park closed then?" she asks. "I wonder if we have any kinfolk in the Park & Recs service who could get it shut down..." she pauses, running a tongue over her teeth in thought. "So it's definitely still there, in the Umbra, and it's definitely affected - I'm not aware of any missing Kinfolk reports, so it's almost certainly affected a mortal? Do we have any information about the victim, any remains, anything that could be examined or traced?"
Lenore offers a nod as she responds, "Yes. I really do if I am honest. I think we should have the park closed as soon as possible. As for that, I don't know the answer. Sandy might know though, or someone else of course within your community." She pauses before she comments, "Well. I did tear some of his skin off and brought it back to David. He has it in some tupperware in the freezer. You can ask him to inspect it however, make sure you wear gloves and possibly a mask. Rather not find out what happens one of your kind were to ingest it. Or would could happen to a kin in such a same circumstance. As for the victim. I truly suspect he is still in that bush where I found him. Could always send someone in to go a bag and tag. Make it look like the morgue is taking him away. Just again, a respirator would indeed be wisest. Just as an extra precaution."
Alexa nods. There's a strange focus to her eyes, a strange fire to them. "Alright. I'll make sure this gets to Liam's ears, if Sandy hasn't told him already. I'll recommend he tap our connections to get the park shut down, and see what leadership wants from there." There's a fire burning in those eyes. She rises to her feet. "Thank you for taking the time to talk to me, Lenore. Was there anything else you wanted to relay?"
Lenore ponders for a moment, slowly getting up before she responds, "No. I am rather sure that is everything. I know Sandy and her cohorts are wanting to use flamethrowers in the umbra to deal with the gray masses. I made sure to mention the need for masks in there as well and my concern about the inhalation of the ashes. If Liam needs my number, please do give it to him."
"Sure thing." Alexa gets a thoughtful look in her eyes. She moves to open the blinds, but then hesitates. She glances back to Lenore. "How long ago was this all discovered, out of curiosity?"
Lenore starts stretching her arms as she responds, "Yesterday is when I found the body and when David and I went to do recon in the umbra. I just spoke with Sandy this morning about it. I am unsure how long that poor man has been there however but hopefully not long and that no one or nothing else has come upon him."
Alexa nods. "Alright," the Garou says, and then gives the Corax a smile. "Shift over and I'll get this cracked open for you. Thank you very much for your testimony and insight, wise Corax."
Lenore smiles as she says, "Happy to help. Anything to protect our beloved Gaia." She then shifts down and once that window is opened enough she can squeeze under, she is out and flying off back to Skid Row.
