It started as a joke by Kelani when he was still in the USMC, forever complaining about the absence of quality chow at the airbases and FOBs, and when he was released from service, he put his GI Bill to work with a degree in both Business Management and a trip through Culinary School, all at Los Angeles Harbor College. With a small angel investment, he set up shop and started rolling through the different neighborhoods until arriving at the place where it all began: Venice Beach, California.
To both bolster the community connections as well as improve advertising, there's a podcast called "AkawCast" which broadcasts every night at sundown, providing a surf report for the late-night crowd on the beach, updates for missing persons in the region and social commentary relating to the Pacific Island citizens of Los Angeles. Slowly, but surely, it is spreading.
