Biography

California was born under a different name, though she has gone by California since she was a kid, and at eighteen it was legally changed. She was raised in a lovely house in the Malibu Bowl, within sight of the ocean. Her parents had money, as did theirs and so on, dating back to hotel and brothel ownership during the Gold Rush. Since then they'd invested in a number of fields, and were able to mostly be idle rich. Not Los Angeles rich, mind you, but more then well enough to have a good life. Callie came out at an early age, not feeling right in her amab body, and her parents accepted her pretty quickly. She began living ans presenting as a girl as a child, though she could not start hormones until -way- later.

She attended a private school in Malibu, where she was relentlessly bullied for who she was. She still has nightmares about some of the worse encounters. She began to find her solace on the beach, and her dad taught her to sutf at twelve. Since then she tries to get out into the water every day, if she can. Around this time she befriended an old beach bum by the name of Daniel. Daniel was a nice, if weird, man. He'd vanish for weeks at a time, and then return as if nothing was amiss. He usually slkept under the pier, and did what he could to be a friendly, amicable fellow. When Callie was sixteen she discovered him under the pier, having been brutally stabbed in a homeless-on-homeless crime. He was dying quicjkly, and he gifted her an old leather belt he always had with him...which turned out to be the man's seal skin.

When she tried it on for the first time, her Fae soul came with it, and she found herself in the world of the other Changelings. She loved it, and was taken in by another Selkie pretty quickly for her tutelage and Saining. She barely finished high school, due to the time she spent in the water and learning, but she did. Since then she has mostly stuck to herself among the Fae, which is why not many folks know her yet. However, last year her parents both died in a terrible yacht accident, and she inherited the house and the money. Now, she's so lonely, and is beginning to reach out to the other Changelings.

Local - Callie was raised in Malibu, specifically in the Bowl. If you're a local you could easily know her or her family, as they've been living in Malibu for a few generations now.

Money - Her family has money dating back to running hotels and brothels up north during the Gold Rush. Since then they've invested to the point of being idle rich. They are not 'LA Rich', but are more then able to live a nice life without worry. In 2020 her parents were killed in a yachting accident, and she has since inherited it all. She is not happy about it.

Selkie - The girl is a Changeling. She's one of the Selkies, using her seal skin to transform and dive deep.
