Changeling Combat Rules
Before reading this, you should familiarise yourself with the Basic Combat Rules.
Actions
All of the following actions take up one standard action during your turn.
- Bunking: Bunking is assumed to take a full turn, especially if the bunk requires a roll. The maximum difficulty reduction for including a bunk in the initial cantrip action is -1. Prebunking is possible but requires a +note with the bunk.
- Cantrip casting: Casting a Cantrip is a full turn action.
- Diversion: A character may attempt to distract an opponent, opening him up to attacks from allies. To do this, roll <the best of Charisma and Manipulation> + Subterfuge resisted by Wits + Alertness. This is a social combat attack so the defender wins. But if the social attack is successful, all defensive actions the target takes for the next turn are at +2 difficulty.
- Tactics: A character may issue tactical commands to make your team fight more efficiently. With an Intelligence + Leadership roll, for every success you may offer one ally a -1 difficulty to their next roll. Nobody can benefit from more than one leadership bonus.
Precasts
Time 3 allows you to precast your cantrips.
If you don't have Time 3, you can spend a point of glamour per missing level to cheat your way to precasts. This is expensive and so not generally advised. If you have access to the Far Dreaming, it becomes more achievable to cheat because of the respiration of Glamour at the rate of 1 per hour.
Precasts must be in a note and must be rolled to a job with the note containing the cantrip, the roll results, the bunk and difficulty.
Combat Arts
Almost every Art can effectively be used in Combat. These three, however, are specifically designed for it.
Wayfare 2: Quicksilver
Beyond splitting your dice pool, Wayfare 2 allows you to take extra full pool actions during the turn after it is cast.
Precasting Wayfare 2 can allow you to start combat with extra actions on your first turn.
Dragon's Ire
The entire Art chain. All of it. From "you hit harder" to "you shoot lasers from your fingers".
Skycraft 3
Every success adds one to your initiative.
Every 2 successes adds one to your dexterity.
