Charlotte hails from, in life anyway, small town Iowa. Where life is slow, people are neighborly, and nothing except livestock getting loose and storms happen. Childhood is boring. She did the usual things. Dance classes, gymnastics, but her older brother got her into video games. This is important later.
High School was what it was, she was pretty, so she did alright. She was smart enough, so her grades were okay. Like you do, she went to college. The in state, cheap college. Iowa State University, the good old Cyclones. She majored in mass media and communications. Never did graduate, though.
Early in the summer after finishing her Sophomore year, she decided to treat herself to an early birthday trip from her small town to Des Moines. The Big City. (It's not that big.) Out wandering the bar district, she met a guy. He was intense. Handsome. Irresistable. Things she knows now are just the fact that he was a Toreador with some skill in the Presence discipline. To make a long story short, they went back to his place, and she didn't leave alive.
She never returned home, either. Not that she's missing, but she called her parents and told them she was moving in with a friend. Movers grabbed her stuff, and she hasn't really talked to them since. Though, that's not the problem right now. The problem is that Alec, her sire, did not have permission. They were together for a couple weeks before they were both dragged to the court.
Only one of them walked away.
The local Toreador Primogen plied a boon she held to let the childe be taken into her care. That's where her Accounting was done. Where she learned how to be a vampire, how to deal with the Court. Of course, she spent the next twenty-odd years as barely better off than a Ghoul. She was secretary, driver, whipping girl for her mistress.
In her free time a couple years ago, she began to stream and take some .. photos of herself to sell online. Both of these were far less humiliating than being a servant in forced gratitude. She saved money away from her 'patron's' eye. She built a following that the local kindred knew nothing about, technology wasn't their strong suit. With her simp--fan's money rolling in, she abandoned Des Moines on a night where there was some Primogen meeting about the werewolves or Sabbat or something important enough to keep her boss busy, and she fled to LA.
Now she's here, hoping the powers that be will let her stay.
