Biography

Born March 3rd, 1980 in Johns Creek, Georgia Daniel Adams-Pierce is the son of Willy Pierce the former Second Baseman of the Atlanta Braves. As a boy, he played baseball, football, field hockey, and wrestled winning several Atlanta-area championships. Eschewing college for a 'year break', Daniel Adams-Pierce (D.A.P. or 'dap' as he's known to superfans) was discovered while working out at a Los Angeles gym at age eighteen. He appeared in several smaller martial arts movie roles early in his career. D.A.P. has always credited former MMA star Owen 'Madman' Gracie's martial arts school for teaching him the moves he needed to become a success.

Starring in his first breakout 2004 hit 'Courier', D.A.P. established himself as a gruff but endearing on-screen presence. In the movie 'Courier' D.A.P. played Johnathan Rider, a no-nonsense chauffeur and bodyguard who took a job transporting the daughter of a wealthy businessman through Mexico. Evading kidnappers and druglords in their quest for the border, D.A.P. made a name for himself as much with his martial arts moves as he did by doing his own driving stunts. While the critics gave it mediocre reviews, the movie posted excellent box office returns and quickly became a fan favorite.

Between 2004 and 2007, he had several lesser roles leading up to 2007's 'Charlie Alpha'. Playing the titular Charles 'Charlie' Alpha, a marine trapped behind enemy lines when his unit is killed, D.A.P. once again wowed fans with his guns-blazing style of action. Protecting a village of innocent people in an unnamed region not dissimilar from Afghanistan, Charlie Alpha worked to keep the village safe from both sides of the conflict. Growing through the film from a scared kid from Kansas into a true hero, the journey that Charlie Alpha took resonated with audiences across the world. The noticeable bump in military recruitment numbers also saw him invited to a special night with troops returning from a tour of duty.

The vampire thriller 'High Stakes' was the next big movie for D.A.P., where the Hollywood heartthrob played Sheriff Alan van Helsing, the long lost scion of the Helsing family. Fighting vampires through the Wild West, with Valencia Cortez playing his love interest turned eventual antagonist, Sheriff van Helsing showcased the gritty perseverance that came to be known as the cornerstone of D.A.P.'s style. Delivering the killing blow to the Vaquero Vampirosa gang in a blood-soaked frenzy of action, Alan established himself in the film canon as a hero worthy of notice. Sheriff Alan van Helsing has appeared in several 'Top 100 Best Vampire Hunter' lists online, and Sheriff Alan cosplay remains popular at Comic conventions and other sci-fi events. A silver sheriff's star, used to kill the Vaquero Vampirosa leader, Don Dracula, often features prominently in cosplay, as it did in the marketing for the movie.

The next several years saw him take on many roles, from wildcard detective Joey Hart in 'Banking on Corruption' to the recurring antagonist in the smash hit Sci-fi trilogy 'Indomitable', where he starred opposite Bennett Piper, he even took a trip to the Middle Ages as Sir Edmund Butcher in 'Darkest Knight'. Each role stood out as a high point in the already lofty arc of his career. There was even a year's worth of buzz about D.A.P. playing the villain in the next Bond movie. Sadly, every career has its low points as well, and 2019 saw the D.A.P.'s last appearance in a leading role, 'Reckless' was a poorly written, poorly directed movie with fight choreography that can best be described as 'sloppy and dark'.

Taking the flop as a sign that it was time to make a graceful exit from the limelight, D.A.P. shifted into a Producer role, allowing his industry experience to be used for the benefit of the next generation. He's also turned an eye toward philanthropy, supporting charities that lead the fight against food insecurity in the United States and abroad, as well as charities that push back against gun violence. There has been some criticism from the online alt-right focusing on the 'mixed messages' of his on-screen violence being at odds with the anti-gun rhetoric of his charities' message, though D.A.P. seems to have mostly ignored it.

In recent years, D.A.P. has stepped increasingly out of the spotlight, working tirelessly from his Studio City manor on a number of different things. He's also appeared in smaller roles in a few films since 2019, usually as a mentor figure that guides the young hero toward greatness. He's also been seen at Owen 'Madman' Gracie's Hollywood gym from time to time, meeting with his old mentor - no doubt to reminisce about old times and pay homage to the man who helped make him the cinema legend that he is today.
