Dante Zimmer
OOC Information: This character is an NPC of the Garou Nation.
A nerdy caucasian male in his mid-twenties, standing at average height. Messy brown hair of moderate length with light facial scruff, and soft brown eyes. Wireframe glasses sit on his face, and he's dressed like a stereotypical city academic: an olive-gray field jacket with four pockets atop a plaid collared shirt that's tucked into a pair of belted jean-colored khakis. His shoes are a type of loafer, a compromise between office-wear and street-walking.
As a City Farmer Galliard, Dante combines his passion for bringing greenery and sustainability to the city with a passion for ethnographic studies. Understanding how food was sustainably harvested in the past may bring inspiration for trailblazing agricultural methods of the future. To these ends, he's made considerable efforts to make inroads with the Uktena, a task that's not easy given the history between their two tribes. He is also a contributor to a few open source projects on GWNet; one looking at the Kinfolk-to-Garou birth rates of the various tribes, and another tracking the family trees of known Garou blood lines attempting to suss out the identities of potential lost cubs and kinfolk. As such, he's always keen to pester newly-found lost cubs and add their families to the growing list.
Firsted in 2013. Got his rite name (Four-Left-Feet) after surviving a nasty plummet when attempting to walk a narrow beam in Lupus. Grew up in Los Angeles to two kinfolk parents (who were themselves tied to the City Farmers on his father's side).
Los Angeles is a different beast, often suffocated in red tape from various corporate and bureaucratic entities that, if not outright controlled by the Wyrm, are heavily influenced by it. Yet this does not stop the Garou of the West Coast attempting to do what they can alongside mortal Green projects to preserve nature, in cities like Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco. Yet in spite of the struggles, there is a contingent of Garou intent on doing the best they can to make this World of Darkness just a little brighter. The efforts in LA, especially in the core of the Protectorate, are spearheaded by a Fostern Glass Walker Galliard known as Dante 'Four-Left-Feet' Zimmer. Making use of the of the modern world, this philosophical 'camp' of Garou focus their Research & Development towards ambitious agricultural projects such as rooftop gardening and vertical farming, and do so through renewable methods such as reclaimed water and zero-emission energy.
While his efforts are often overlooked (some might attribute this to his close bond with the Totem of Cunning, Pigeon, who often lacks respect from more traditionally-minded Garou) the kind-hearted agricultural scientist doesn't pursue his goals for a sustainable Los Angeles out of Glory, Honor, or Wisdom, but rather out of the charitable nature of his heart. He's declared his own 'war on hunger', using the powers granted to him by Gaia to fight his enemy: the ten-thousand hungry people of Skid Row (though the man prefers the official designation of 'Central City' to avoid the social stigma the colloquial name carries in the wider world). To this end, he's combined his personal passion of ethnographic studies into outreach with the Uktena, believing that understanding how the Older tribe sustainably harvested food in the past is the key to solving the present crisis. Owing to this, the contingent of 'City Farmers' has far stronger ties to the various tribes that make up Los Angeles when compared to the majority of Glass Walkers, and place themselves as staunch allies of the Sept of Unity brought about by Mason King and his son, Liam King.
His pack, known as the 'Central City Sustainability Project' charitable organization, formed in the aftermath of the events of 2016. Their outward appearance is the core of their mission, focusing directly on feeding the homeless populations of the Central City which composes the majority of the Sept's Outer Bawn. But it's from this knowledge of the city's core, coupled with the blessings of their totem Pigeon (the consummate urban survivor), that makes up the pack's duty to the Sept and the Nation; there are no Garou in Los Angeles with a more intimate knowledge of the downtown area's winding alleys and population than this pack. Because of this, the pack of Pigeon are seen as serving as either Keepers or Guardians depending on the situation. The health of Central City's populace is directly connected to the health of the Outer Bawn and suits the role of Keeper (as seen by Dante Zimmer's recent rise to the position of Keeper of the Land), and while the agro-nerds might be found wanting in a fight, there is little that goes by in the Outer Bawn without catching their notice. As the Sept pushes beyond downtown, they can rest comfortably knowing that the Guardian Pigeons keep a sharp eye on their heartland.
The pack consists of three members currently: Dante Zimmer serves as the pack's zedakh, and came into prominence after being rescued by the Black Coil pack during the Siege of 2020. His long-time uldakh, who survived the siege with him, is Ximena 'Grows-the-Urban-Wilds' Velásquez Rivera, a female Fostern Uktena Theurge who even the most Urrah of the Older Brother describe as "too weavery" for their tastes. For the better part of a year, the pack lamented the loss of their third who perished in the siege, Javier 'Nourishes-the-Stone' Quela, a promising young man who had ideas and research beyond his young years. Gaia smiles on Pigeon, however, and the pack was blessed in early 2022 with a First Change, a young Ragabash named Colby, who dropped out of his inner-city high school in order to be personally taught by Dante Zimmer and the network of kinfolk that align under the 'City Farmer' philosophy.
Yet for all of his accomplishments and efforts, Dante Zimmer represents the average Garou; around 70% of the Garou in the Nation will live and die at the rank of Fostern. Though the man possesses an unsung wisdom and glory in his efforts in Central City that would easily place him among those superior to him in rank, it's the burdens of rank of Adren ('one who learns') and the demands of the challenge itself, that have seen the bookish Glass Walker content with focusing on his missions to the Sept and the people of Downtown Los Angeles at the cost of his social advancement within the wider Nation. In spite of this, one would find few who would hold the Fostern's rank against him, and demonstrate that the 'seasoned veterans' of the Nation are just as important as the few who command higher ranks.
