Adjunct Professor: Dr. Kozlov is an adjunct professor at UCLA in the department of linguistics. Are you a graduate student? Do you want to help run a research lab? Are you an undergrad linguistics student or just interested in modern linguistics? Reach out!
Languages: Jackson speaks six languages fluently and has a decent literary understanding of other languages. He does research on modern linguistics and the influence language has on culture.
Politics: An outspoken member of the California Faculty Association, Jackson makes no excuses for his pro-labor stance. Pictures can be found of him marching with the Industrial Workers of the World in Sacramento about half a decade ago.
Cryptography: Jackson's additional interests lie in cryptography and code-cracking. He is a member of several amateur clubs. He also has a strong interest in alternate reality games, especially ones that are focused on figuring out codes.
Russian: Ivan, or Jack, or Jackson (if you're nasty), was born in Irkutsk and lived there until he was about seven years old. He has some connections with the local Russian community. Are you also Russian? Perhaps a little less Americanized whereupon you can complain about how Western Jackson is?
California: Jackson has lived in and around southern California for most of his life, but completed his Ph.D. at UC Davis. He was a postdoc at UC Riverside prior to getting an adjunct job there and then quickly moving to UCLA. If you lived or went to school in the IE, you may be aware of him.
