In his home, he was bilingual, speaking English and Spanish with his family and friends. In his youth, he ran with a gang, did some dirt, and tried to keep out of trouble while going to school and playing sports. Being as tall as he is means he spent a lot of time playing basketball. He could have gone pro, but that street life caught up with him and sent him to jail for three years when he was a senior in high school. After he got out of jail he stopped playing basketball and shifted to boxing and did some time as a personal trainer and boxing coach to get back on his feet.
