Thomas "Tommy Thunder" Lei. Criminal, Daoshi, Shifu. Man about town in the Chinese community of Los Angeles. Hero to some, villain to others, mystery to many. The public face of a small dragon gate Taoist temple in Chinatown - the Temple of the Eternal Spring. The private force behind the Hong Lian Benevolent Association (informally known as the House of the Crimson Lotus) - a community group-cum-street gang with a focus on bridging the gap between the native and immigrant Chinese communities in Los Angeles through the curation of cultural events and the coordination of mutual-aid efforts.
- Community - The Hong Lian Benevolent Association is a small but effective organization in support of both recent immigrants and established residents of Chinese descent through mutual-aid and cultural preservation.
- Martial Arts - Tommy Thunder, one time layabout rich kid cage fighter who then went and disappeared only to re-emerge a changed man and having found religion. Still packs a hell of a punch, though.
- Order of Hermes - The Order know him as a former Wu Lung demonologist recruited into House Hong Lei to tackle the "Ten Thousand Demons" problem. Native to Los Angeles before his Awakening, he is only recently returned after extensive time 'abroad'. He's here for the dastardly demons recently escaped from the Thousand Hells (and other dark places) and the political intrigues between the Disparate Alliance and the Traditions. And L.A.? She has both in spades.
- Religion - Those faithful in Chinatown who frequent the Eternal Spring temple sometimes find their prayers answered, and their demons exorcised with a vengeance as can only be brought by a higher power.
- Supernatural - An earthly echo of the Celestial Bureaucracy's Duke of Thunder, Lei is indelibly marked as such - possessed of Celestial Affinity and serving as a Natural Channel, while accompanied by Primal Marks.
