Rowan
Do you like the monkstep?
Born the youngest of three children to Paige Wilson, the first few years of Rowan's life were practically idyllic. Older twin sisters, mother and father and lots of aunties and uncles and grandfolks, other children-- such a large and caring family. He doesn't really remember his father, who was killed when he was very young. His mother wasn't there during the summers, as she went to archaeological digs while she pursued her various degrees, and as soon as he was old enough to stay out of trouble and help he eagerly went with her to wash potsherds and ask millions of questions of his mother and her classmates.
When she moved them to Nebraska for her graduate work and he had to start in a different school, he got reasonably terrible grades -- good at taking tests, bad at homework and getting essays in on time -- but he pursued learning Latin and period musical notation on his own so that he could read transcriptions of medieval manuscripts. He taught himself guitar, joined the marching band, tried a bunch of other instruments, and dropped the marching band. Gradually he generally got nerdier and nerdier with music and medieval stuff, as his mother worked on her PhD and then went on to do more research afterwards. After his own high school graduation, his mother moved across the country to accept a job at the Natural History Museum in LA.
He decided to take a gap year after nearly bombing one semester at the local community college, because he was making enough money at that point from his half-educational and half-bardcore medievalist social media monetization and product hawking that he could support himself in a semi-rural area with good internet... or contribute to rent if he followed his mom one more time. He loves his mother a lot, and she did have a spare room -- maybe next year he'll enroll in UCLA.
