The Finer Side of Street Living
The second floor of the Sprawl skirts the line between a dangerous trap house and an art gallery. A multi-level display of homegrown architecture, the space opens directly up from the first floor into an exhibition area, a wide stretch of open flooring displaying anything from photography, to sculpture, to performance art.
Generally, the last exhibit to be shown is left to gather dust until enough impetus is built to layer a new display atop the last. This results in a cluttered, vibrant energy of multimedia brightly lit from outside during the day by the two levels of combined windows and multiple skylights. At night, flickering fairy lights strung above and dim, scattered rail lighting cast dark shadows in an ominous fashion and make the work more difficult to appreciate.
