Biography

In the heyday of great Scientists and mighty Adventurers, one name stands out--Nick Daring, the Unstoppable Man. He began his life from humble origins, the son of farmers in rural Missouri. But in 1917, he heard his call to Adventure, and joined the Army to go Over There and bring the fight to the villainous forces of the Kaiser. Mortally wounded at the Battle of the Marne, Nick would experience his Awakening. With newfound power, he overcame his wounds and beat the Germans into a rout before finally collapsing.

But fortune was with Nick, for the astounding tale of his deeds reached the ears of Dr. Quentin Gallagher. A rebel Scientist and one of the leaders of the Electrodyne Engineer defection from the Technocracy, Dr. Gallagher took the bewildered Nick under his wing. He would administer his Prometheus Protocols, as series of super-soldier treatments, making Nick stronger and tougher than any man alive. In time, Nick would join Dr. Gallagher's cabal, the Aeon Society. Together, they would travel the globe, leveraging the power of their Enlightened Science against the tyranny of the Technocracy and the evils of their Dystopia.

In 1922, Nick would have his final Adventure. Deep within the ancient ruins of the enigmatic Zantu Time Lords, he would face down his entire Rogue's Gallery, every Villian he had ever thwarted. A fearless Hero to the last, Nick ordered the rest of the Aeon Society to retreat, before single-handedly detonating the Time Engines at the ruins' core, ensuring they would not fall into evil hands. The explosion wiped the ruins off the face of the Earth, but of the brave Adventurer, there was no sign. The Sons of Ether mourned their fallen Hero, and history moved on.

But for a bewildered and terrified Nick, awakening in Los Angeles in 2020, a new Adventure is set to begin...

Stereotypes

• Akashic Brotherhood - They's every bit as good at fightin' as I am, an' the don't even need Science for it. It's just a shame they're all pacifists. Don't they know there's a War on?
• Celestial Chorus - I absolutely believe that God exists, even if I ain't got no notion what God is. Ain't no reason a'tall that Science n' Faith cain't co-exist.
• Cult of Ecstasy - Hoo-ee! I love folks who enjoy lettin' the good times roll!
• Dreamspeakers - They understand some mighty powerful truths, an' they got even more powerful friends. I'll never understand those Scientists who look down on the Dreamspeakers just 'cause of how they was raised. I'm just an ignorant farmer from Missurah--does that mean I ain't welcome in the halls o' Science?
• Euthanatos - I get why folks are afraid of 'em. The Adventure never really ends, but endings is all they know. An' when they go bad, boy howdy they go real bad.
• Order of Hermes - History books say we used to be a House o' Hermes. But they keep lookin' back to find their answers. Tomorrow lies ahead.
• Verbena - Like the Hermes, they look back instead of lookin' ahead. Like the Dreamspeakers, they understand mighty powerful truths. But I surely am glad to see women's lib kept goin' even after I left.
• Virtual Adepts - Hunh. So the Difference Engineers finally wised up an' joined the Good Guys. Well... good on 'em for it. I surely did hate fightin' 'em back in my day.
• The Technocratic Union - I seen what they can do. I seen what they done to Europe--what they'd do to us all, if given the chance. There's a damn good reason we left. Ain't no room in our Better Tomorrow for their Dystopia. We will win this War, because that's what Good Guys do. We win.
• Nephandi - Think you're some kinda hotshot, huh? *cracks knuckles* Let's see what yer evil masters think of ya after I've fed ya a knuckle sammich!
• Marauders - I cain't begin to imagine how the others call us 'Mad' Scientists. We got rules we follow. Marauders don't.
