Harpy News: Elysium - Does anyone care anymore? - April, 26, 2022

"Just what is going on with the state of affairs at Elysium these nights? The behavior we've been seeing at the Walt Disney Concert Hall these last few months has been truly abhorrent."

"I know! Did you hear about what happened the other night and the altercation that occurred between the Anarch, Fiddle, and Sheriff Lopez?"

"Oh! We'll get to THAT in a moment. But first, can we all agree that Elysium is meant to be a sacred place that serves as a neutral ground for all Kindred to meet and socialize without the threat of conflict or violence? I know we roll our eyes at the notion of 'safe spaces', but Elysium is a fundamental part of Camarilla, no… Kindred Society, and without it our society is nothing more than monsters in pretty clothing."

"Yes, we can agree on that notion in principle, though lately it feels as if nobody wants to come to the Concert Hall out of fear of getting caught up in one conflict or another. Some are even avoiding Elysium entirely! Frankly, I don't blame them, either. Who wants to socialize in a place where you have to worry about the Sheriff breaking into a fit of frenzy? Certainly not this harpy! But what happened, anyway?"

"Well, it all started when the Anarch named Fiddle walked into Elysium and overheard something Deputy Artemis Whitlocke said to Chancellor Tanner at his expense. Something about ordering a clown for entertainment. He responded by calling the Tremere deputy out on her ponytail… I know, I know, he DOES have a point there, doesn't he?... but where was I? Right! Sheriff Lopez then was insulted by the disrespect shown within Elysium and threatened to incinerate the Southsider in front of everyone!"

"No way! Who else was there?"

"Well, Deputy Whitlocke and Chancellor Tanner, though the Ventrue harpy Khadijah Khalid and Deputy Shelly Marin were there in addition to Sheriff Lopez and Fiddle. Fortunately, the situation resolved itself when the Anarch read the room and departed."

"Anarchs will be childish, but the Sheriff is supposed to help defend Elysium. Instead, Alejandro Lopez's recent behavior seems to be contributing directly to the problem. If a single rude Anarch can have that effect on him then what might happen if someone were to really try to set him off? This wasn't the first time he has been involved in a scuffle in Elysium, either. Remember that incident with the Malkavian Whip, Sveta Serova, a couple of months ago? Surely we should expect better from Clan Tremere."

"So all of this happened so soon after Keeper Oliver Lancaster's posted that warning of his?"

"Yes, though we've heard those warnings in the past and that hasn't stopped these incidents from happening. Where is Harper Campbell when we need her? She was a proper Keeper of Elysium and always worked hard to maintain the sanctity of the concert hall. Campbell even took up her own weapons and stood with the deputies on the night the former Ventrue Primogen, Nakisisa Kanumba, attempted his coup."

"I know Oliver Lancaster runs things differently, but maybe now is the time for action and not words? Something must change if the Kindred of our city are going to take Elysium seriously again."

"I totally agree, especially with all this talk about a second Elysium being in the works. How can we take another one seriously if the current Elysium has had so many incidents…"

Harpy News: New Ventrue Primogen - Six Time's a Charm? - April, 23, 2022

"So I heard that the Ventrue chose a new Primogen... again! What is that, six now? In less than a year? Nakisisa, Gabriel, Gretchen, Grayson, Max, and now Mr. Schultz... yes, six! Do you think they're trying out some sort of bi-monthly rotation thing or..?"

"I honestly don't know/what/ to think about Clan Ventrue in LA at this point. For a Clan who styles themself on leadership and being an example for others to follow, they really haven't done much of either in recent times. And now the Inner Council is sending another 'Blue Blood' to take the throne? Why should we trust the throne going to the 'Clan of Kings' when they can't even keep a semblance of order in their own house?"

"I don't know that we should? Like you say, they haven't done much around here lately except compete for who can be the most uncooperative. I guess we'll just have to wait and see for now. Keep the popcorn warm. So many change-ups... oh, did any of you hear what actually happened to the former Primogen, by the way? Where /did/ Max Michaelson go?"

"I heard he didn't officially resign, just sorta... slipped off into the night. I guess that the state of the Clan was too big a mess even for the so-called Janitor, even with the support of the armored old bat. But enough about the old guy, what do you think about the new pick, Mr. Schultz?"

"I'll admit that I was surprised when I heard his name, a known fairweather member, and one based in Century City, no less. They must really be scraping the bottle of the barrel to vote in someone with his history and reputation as the face of the Clan. How many others do you think declined the seat for it to go to him?"

"It might not be that simple, or boring. Apparently, there was only four people actually present for the vote, and none of the usual Elders. From what I hear, most of the Clan was quite irritated by the lack of notice they were given to attend the Board Meeting in which they were to vote. Only two nights! Especially Keeper Oliver Lancaster III, who was present for the vote, was -very- bothered by the fact that the usual Ventrue Elders were not present to vote in person and voice their opinions."

"Well, surely they got praxis votes, no?"

"I'm not actually sure. You'd think so, but I heard whispers that some of the older members either didn't get a praxis vote, or simply abstained from voting for whatever reason. In protest, I can only assume. Whatever the case, it really just serves to exemplify the disharmony among the city's Blue Bloods, and this new appointment clearly hasn't done anything to bridge the gaps. If Clan Ventrue in LA was a company, they'd be running some seriously red numbers."

"At least he's come down from his perch in Century City and has been showing his face around Elysium and DTLA in the recent months, that /could/ be a positive sign, perhaps?"

"Talking about Century City... With Mr. Schultz appointed to Primogen, and the throne going to the Ventrue, do you think that it points to future troubles for Ms. Kennedy Wilde, who shares Century City with Mr. Schultz?"

"I can't imagine so. Do you really think he would? That seems like an odd, and risky, fight to pick? Ms. Wilde is a Primogen herself, and mostly well liked and respected both in- and outside of her Clan as far as I'm aware. And she's a member of the Hancock Park Home-owner's Association along with our dear Chancellor, surely any conflict with her would be conflict with them as well. Does /he/ even have true support from his own Clan?"

"Not all of them at least, clearly. He appears to have the support of Lydon Vogel of Clan Tremere, though, who voiced as much while at Elysium on the night Schultz's appointment was announced. The Tremere mentioned that he and Mr. Schultz have been very close to forming an official coterie based in Century City. Certainly sounds like the two are becoming quite good friends."

"Interesting nights ahead, girls. But then, aren't they always?"

Harpy News: Yiska Ghost Bear and his new childe! - April, 19, 2022

"Did you hear about the latest news regarding Clan Gangrel's newest member, Yiska Ghost Bear?! Well, he isn't the newest member anymore! It appears that he has embraced none other than Lilena Angelius. Yes, THAT Lilena, the former ghoul of Clan Ventrue!"

"Wasn't she Ventrue Primogen Max Michaelson's ghoul that he paid a Boon to Ventrue Gabriel Coleman for when the latter left town? She sure gets around! Where does that leave Mr. Michaelson in all of this? I do hope Yiska paid HIM a boon for the trouble, though if he did, the harpies surely have not been told!"

"As for Lilena, that is quite the progression from lowly ghoul to embraced kindred, don't you think? Apparently she, herself, claims she was picked for her accounting skills. Since when do Gangrel need accountants? Still, ANYONE who can survive being Gabriel Coleman's ghoul for some twenty years has certainly proved they have the survival instincts Clan Gangrel is well known for."

"Still, do we really believe that reason? She's a successful business woman but surely she was only selected because Primogen Michaelson's vanished and Yiska saw an opportunity to increase the number of Gangrel within the Camarilla as part of his bid for a seat on the Primogen Council."

"But, girls, the question remains… just how did Yiska even obtain permission for a childe so soon after joining the Praxis? Did you SEE how he acted last court? That blatant open discipline use in Elysium is simply unacceptable, especially while on stage so close to the Prince!"

"Former Prince."

"That is true now, but, my point stands! How was he even allowed to get away with that? The safety of the Prince and Primogen Council was put at risk! Why has there been no follow-up from Keeper Lancaster or Sheriff Lopez? Surely they couldn't have forgotten the spectacle in light of the night's bigger news!"

"Summer herself offered only a polite reminder of the sanctity of Elysium. What precedent does this set if anyone can perform such a dangerous display of open discipline use, breaking one of the most sacred rules of Elysium, and then get rewarded for it with the rights to a childe so soon after?! Yiska Ghost Bear should at least offer the Keeper of Elysium and Summer Hastings both a boon for reparation for such blatant disrespect. It's what a civilized kindred would do, don't you agree?"

Harpy News: Lydon Vogel, Talent Night, and Hancock Park - April, 11, 2022

"Did you hear the latest about Lydon Vogel?"

"Someone told me that the Tremere Lydon Vogel may be causing a stir again. Word is that he supposedly used to have hunting rights to that trendy club, The Flux Capacitor, but I just caught wind that his hunting permission has since been rescinded by club-owner and Daughter of Cacophony, Tabi Foster."

"Just what could he have done? Tabi seems quite willing to dole out hunting rights to just about anyone these nights but I haven't heard of anyone else having theirs taken away."

"What about talent night?

"Ewww! Did you hear that song that Caitiff Anarch sung at Keeper Lancaster's talent night the other night? Some shanty about Caitiff rights? Read the room, Rabble! Meanwhile, ALL the kudos go to the Winter Harington, Leetah Lanley, and Zebastian Oygard. Those three were simply magnificent with their performances!"

"What about Keeper Oliver Lancaster's comedy routine? That was delightful to watch. Who knew he would be so funny while portraying an inept musician attempting to play that wonderful Guns 'n Roses song?"

"My favorite act? Definitely Deputy Shelly Marin with her magic trick at the end. The good Deputy earns bonus points for NOT singing, at the very least!"

"Let's talk about The Housing Association of Hancock Park!"

Have you heard the latest rumors? Who IS the true power within Hancock Park these nights?"

"Well, Mr. Stanford has tried to play at many games. He's tried to be the Ventrue Primogen. He's passed on some opportunities in order to try to make larger power grabs and failed. He chased away a prominent coterie mate when he tried to muster the troops and keep things going. He sits in his Country Club and hasn't come out for quite some time. He's a non-factor as far as anything goes."

"The Chancellor, however, is a different story. She is climbing in position, she is the one actually researching the threats to the HoA and trying to plan accordingly. She is the one who tries to make end-roads in Hollywood too at least and helps with the future there."

"She's the one people go to if they need anything done as she is far more approachable. The most powerful HOA member is the Chancellor. She is the most vocal, visible, and likely well respected member, as well as the only person trying to grow it and bring it closer to the Praxis instead of making it their own little fiefdom."

Harpy News: A Game of Thrones - House Lightbourne - April, 11, 2022

"Prince Jonathan Lightbourne of Clan Ventrue will be arriving 'soon' along with his three childe but do we seriously NEED more Ventrue in the city when the Clan is already so scattered and disorganized? Maybe Prince Lightbourne will be the one to bring some stability to the 'Clan of Kings', though rumor has it his childer don’t get along with one another, either. Get your popcorn ready, girls, if you can stand the smell. Things are about to get interesting…"

Prince Lightbourne: https://i.imgur.com/VfWsYr6.jpeg

"Speaking of Lightbourne's childe! The youngest, Bastian Fox, is going to be present at the next court where he will be giving a so-called 'slick multimedia presentation' about his Sire in order to prepare us all for the new Prince's arrival. I heard it from a good source that Bastian was embraced during the "greed is good" 80's era on Wall Street. But seriously, did you SEE the picture of him that the Ventrue Archon shared last court? He looks like quite the douche!"

Harpy News: Summer Rescinds the Throne - April, 11, 2022

"So she actually did it! Summer Hastings shocked everyone last court when she stepped down. I heard she didn’t have a choice when the Inner Council just decided to replace her. If they can replace the Prince, what’s stopping them from replacing everyone else? Well, maybe not Seneschal Crawley but who wants HIS seat?"

"So she stepped down willingly we were told. Happily we were led to believe. But things aren’t always as they appear, are they? "I hear they paid her off to leave so quietly!" "But what about her handling of the Vee situation? Because Summer failed to contain the LA vitae and created a threat to the masquerade across the country, that was reason enough for the inner council to replace her."

"Either way, it was only a matter of time before Summer was removed. Honestly, how long could a neonate - at best - hold power over a city like Los Angeles? It was prudent of her to step aside graciously. She saves most of her face, and gets quite a feather in her cap."

"Meanwhile, has anyone seen Emily Cade? She hasn’t been spotted since last court when Summer Hastings stepped down. Our fellow ‘sister’ sure had her enemies and what will they do now that her biggest protector is off the throne?"

Harpy News: Blood Hunts and Favors - November, 14, 2021

Quite the court this passed week wasn't it?

Karner Blue turns out to be a Sabbat Agent, and Isaac Abrams continues to shelter him none-the-less, even for Anarchs this behavior is entirely unreasonable. Perhaps a few of the wayward will see now the failings of their childish rebellion and come to the Tower where they belong, otherwise? Though how could we accept them with out suspicion at this point? Difficult nights indeed!

As for favors, some were grants: 2 to the Malkavian clan by our stunning Prince, for services rendered in the matter of Blue's treason and other services in maintaining the security of the praxis. And another to the Tremere for their ongoing support and efforts to maintain stability.

Some were requested as well:

  • The Hollywood Knight (and former, very briefly Primogen of the Ventrue) Grafin Gretchen Von Eisen requested the praxis cease concerns regarding boarders and leadership on the city to focus on the fight against the Sabbat and chivalry towards the helpless - which is a kind sentiment but was politely declined by her Highness
  • Keeper Harper Campbell requested Bunker Hill as her personal domain, a matter that will be considered further by Prince Hastings as well.

Oh and you're all I know, waiting with baited breath to find out which of the Harpies will rise to the position of Chancellor.... but you'll have to wait a tick longer darlings.

XOXO

Harpy Network: It's Summer Time! - September 29, 2021

"Did you hear? The Seneschel is back! And appears to be safe and well."

"After the last few nights we could use a calming voice around here."

"Did you see what she was wearing? Only the Summer could disappear and come back looking more fabulous than ever."

"If she was cattle I'd postulate that she was off getting 'work done' and this disappearance was justa cover..."
