La Maison de Sable et de Ciel

The House of Sand and Sky is a large mansion perched at the very edges of the seaside cliffs of Santa Monica. Situated squarely between the houses of two well known celebrities, it is known for ruckus parties that stretch well into the morning, most of which offer live entertainment and lots of eccentric individuals dressed in anything from garish, brightly colored clothing to almost nothing at all.

While certainly not open to the public (after all, exclusive parties must be exclusive), the mansion's owner, Thierry Alain Chevalier, is one of the most infamous party hosts in Los Angeles. Very well connected in the entertainment industry, the long list of standing party invitations includes celebrities, musicians, agents, producers, and others from TV, film, theatre, etc. La Maison is known far and wide as the site for some of the best house parties that greater Los Angeles has to offer.

Description

The House of Sand and Sky is a large mansion perched at the very edges of the seaside cliffs of Santa Monica. Inspired by traditional French villas, it resonates with timeless details: white-washed stone, beamed ceilings, and hand-carved doors. Leaded glass windows flood the building with light. Even the tiles are hand painted with delicate blue and green designs.

The building boasts a grand foyer complete with double stair, a great room, a lounge, a wine cellar, and at least half dozen bedroom suites all spread across three floors. Its true crown jewel, however, are the rear grounds. A large balcony extending off the main floor overlooks the enormous terrace below, where a well-lit pool glitters a bright, impossible shade of blue. A winding stair connects the balcony and the terrace, with the shelter provided by the former serving as a comfortably appointed loggia that connects back to the lowest level of the house. The view of the Pacific is the stuff of dreams and fantasy.

The House of Sand and Sky is the manor house of Land's End, a barony of the County of Scale and Vine. It sits on the coast in Santa Monica, a little north of the pier, between the houses of two celebrities. To mortals, Land's End looks like just another beach house, but to faerie sight, it is as extravagant as its pooka Baron, Lord Thierry Alain Chevalier ap Fiona, himself. Like some fairy-tale castle, its spires reach up into the California sunshine, pristine-white and sparkling with stained glass windows. Known for lavish parties that never seem to end, and that cultivate glamour in the endless parade of dreamers that pass in and out of the freehold's doors.

Its demesne extends inland to cover UCLA as well.
