Biography
Sophia Fairbrook was born and raised in Los Angeles, before leaving to explore the world at large, returning in Spring of 2021 to take on a prestigious position at a private tertiary education institution in Hollywood.
A linguistic anthropologist with a crossing overlap into Etymology and an obscure specialty within that to the transfer of cultural concepts within historical cultures, Sophia is every bit an accomplished academic, and has even had a few papers published (though her output is nothing, ironically, to write home about. Teaching keeps you busy, apparently).
Beyond the Veil
"Born to the Birthright of Ascension", so Sophia claims by virtue of her Shadow Name, and it is true that she is one of the rare souls born Awake. This led to no amount of trouble when she was an infant and toddler, and she found herself claimed by the Order of Hermes before she was five.
She's lived a storied life, becoming embroiled in the Ascension War as a teenager, leaving Los Angeles and California behind after the fall of Doissestep and Horizon claimed the lives of two out of three adopted parents, and only returned in the Spring of 2021, laying claim to her ancestral home, and taking up the position of Deputy Chancellor of the Ascension Lodge.
As 2022 loomed, she was promoted to Chancellor by a Hand of the New Horizon Council. Politically speaking, Chantries are typically fairly independent, so such an intervention can easily be interpreted as Council overreach. For now, however, the House of Justice rules the Ascension Lodge, and Sophia wields the gavel.
