Anarch Paintball Bout 1: Joseph vs Khadijah
Storyteller: Spade
Location: Firestone abandoned tire factory parking lot
Date and Time: April 8, 2021 - sometime after midnight
Summary: First bout of paintball, Joseph vs Khadijah, 9mm's at midnight in South LA.
───<Spade>───────────────
First bout of Anarch Paintball, the painters up tonight are Joseph and Khadijah, at least so far. Access down to tonights arena can be gained by riding with Spade from the Warehouse district, which represents the major overlap between Camarilla and South LA territory. To be clear, it's South LA turf, but Spade allows Camarilla to come and go so long as they don't annoy him. He drives an old 90's era dropped, bodykitted Nissan 240SX boy ricer in mexico blue, with all the interior upholstery two tone black and blue. Clearly he puts some effort into this car. The journey is not particularly long, traffic isn't terrible as you get deeper into South LA, especially at night, and this car is basically a pass through all the gangbangers around. The paintball arena is set up in the parking lot of the abandoned tire factory, a loose circle of old cars sketch out a small play area, with various burned out hulks scattered around in the play area to provide cover and concealment. It's not so large across that both combatants can't see the other, this first bout is pretty basic. Although it's not well lit, so any kindred abilities for better sight in the dark, or even sneaking in shadows can still come in useful. Spade himself climbs up and stands on the roof of one of the outer ring of cars, for a decent vantage of the whole ring. Both painters are offered a 9mm of the 'found on the street' type, which is to say, varied makes, and a mag with five rounds in it. Spade also uses a spray can to spray a target on their chests and backs, big dot in the middle, then a ring that vaguely covers the entire torso. Rules are simple, five shots, center mass scores 5 points, middle ring scores 3 points, outer ring scores 1. Most points after five shots wins. Spade will give both painters 'a while' after one person has emptied their pistol, for the other painter to empty theirs. Any bullets fired after Spade calls time don't count. Anything Spade determines to be 'being a dick' disqualifies you. Headshots are a good example of being a dick. Once both painters are armed and ready, Spade will call out a start. Painters, get to your positions.
───<Joseph>───────────────
After given the instructions, Joseph rushes towards a nearby husk of a old rusted worn down and no longer operatable automobile. Rushing blood to his extremities, he hides down low behind cover, considering all of his options.
───<Khadijah>───────────────
It's... play time! Khadijah makes her way down to the bar, ready to do the whole paintball thing and she is seriously excited. She finds Spade and Joe so she can get a 'safe' ride down to the paintball area, and climbs in back so Joe can ride shotgun. The middle-eastern girl comes dressed all in black; black jeans, black boots, black wool military sweater (that she submits to having a target painted on) and her dark blonde hair pulled back in a pony. "Joe, just not my face. Anything but my face." She laughs.
Khadijah grabs a gun and finds the shadow of a car's hull to hide behind. She has obfuscate going and auspex so she can see as good as she can see.
───<Joseph>───────────────
Joseph, also dressed in all black, is ducking and covering behind the good cover of an automobile while he considers all of his options. Both hands are on his paintball rifle, and his two visible eyes are squinting, contemplating all options.
───<Khadijah>───────────────
Khadijah is impatient. She can't see him and knows he won't take a shot unless she moves, so she runs to the next car and aims in the general direction she thinks he's in, but doesn't shoot yet...
───<Joseph>───────────────
The childe actually has police training -- so perhaps he's not totally useless. Seeing Khadijah dart across the battlefield, the 9mm pistol is brought to position, as he's been trained. The flash illuminates his position, and sends a bullet launching straight at Khadijah at roughly 1,180 f/s.
- BANG
"Shit!" He yells, looking around as his gun drops to his side, "I thought this was paintball!" Apparently, someone wasn't paying attention.
───<Khadijah>───────────────
Khadijah takes a hit straight to her and knocks back a bit before she concentrates on healing herself in the shadows. Pissed now, she takes a fairly useless shot and tries to his Joe through his cover. He easily dodges.
───<Spade>───────────────
Spade, standing on the sidelines, watches the sneaky, hiding, cover to cover paintball gameplay with a sort of bored aspect. Nothing dickish is going on, so he doesn't have a job to do, points can be checked at the end, counting up holes in vampires.
───<Khadijah>───────────────
Khadijah sees Joe coming up behind her! She turns and shoots at him but he's moving so fast she just.. plain out sucks. She hits him but it's the worst shot.
───<Joseph>───────────────
There's a reason why the Tremere hate and hunt down the Salubri, and it has nothing to do with the fact that they're soul stealing infernalists, and everything to do with the fact that they are shifty bastards. In defiance of all police protocol, Joseph aims right at the firearm in her hand and misses by a mile.
I mean, really, who would shoot out an opponent's weapon in a friendly fight?
───<Spade>───────────────
Spade continues to watch from the sidelines, mute, sentinel-like. Or so he could be described. Mentally noting the bullets fired, Khadijah is down to 2 bullets remaining and only has 1 point on the board. Joe still has 3 rounds in his pistol and 3 points on the board, but doesn't seem to be interested in shooting Khadijah anymore. Highly unorthodox style indeed.
───<Khadijah>───────────────
Khadijah has him now! With Joe out in the open she turns, squints and eye and BAM! But he's so fast. Just too fast. Khadijah misses him by a mile.
───<Joseph>───────────────
Joseph begins to launch himself into cover again, because he's a shifty bastard, when Khadijah runs up on him! Evasive maneuvers taken, he would barely dodge the bullet, but instead, somehow, the bullet does absolutely no damage. Maybe it's some kind of mechanical misfire or something? Who knows.
───<Khadijah>───────────────
Khadijah notes that Joe dodges her but is still open for a shot and she takes it. Again, it's not great, but she at least gets a little piece of the target, even as she watches the gun fall from his hand.
───<Joseph>───────────────
Before Khadijah's last shot, he tries to bash his gun over her knuckles to force her to drop it -- unfortunately, he's fighting like his Intelligence = 1, so he drops his own firearm! Ruh-roh!
───<Spade>───────────────
Spade, over on the sidelines, which is a ring of cars loosely arranged to create a small arena, with various other burned out hulks spaced around the 'play area' to create cover and obstacles, calls out, "That's five shots from one. The other is disarmed so I think we can call it there." He hops down from the car, but if Khadijah and Joe want to fight on over that pistol, he's not going to force them to quit.
───<Khadijah>───────────────
Khadijah dives for the gun, but accidentally kicks it with her foot as she does her best to grab it. Epic fail.
───<Joseph>───────────────
Joseph, too, has butterfingers, and fails at securing the pistol.
───<Joseph>───────────────
Joseph attempts to grab at the firearm, and in the process, slides it over towards Khadijah, which is why we don't have any more three-eyed kindred in modern nights: because of shit like this.
───<Khadijah>───────────────
When Joe loses control and nearly gives it to her, Khadijah manages to grab that gun and hold it tight. Which wasn't a given! For a moment her eyes meet Joe's and she grins.
───<Joseph>───────────────
Joseph has literally no chance of beating this chick, or anyone, with the headband wrapped tight around his head -- he can't see shit, really. So he maintains distance, stopping only to get out of the way of incoming bullets.
───<Khadijah>───────────────
He's running! Khadijah narrows her eyes and takes an impossible shot. But at the last second Joe dodges and she just... totally misses. She sighs but doesn't drop the gun, just in case.
───<Spade>───────────────
At this point Spade walks over, casually, to where Khadijah is and grabs the pistol as she fires that last shot at Joe, locking the slide back in his grip, "Alright, he's outside the arena. You got him, good job." He's expecting her to let go and give him his gun back. "You get a win, 6 to 3."
───<Joseph>───────────────
Joseph starts to walk back, taking deep and needless breaths -- it's just what he's used to doing. "I can't fight with this thing on, fuck," He looks down at his shirt, torn with bulletholes. "Didn't take much damage, though. Kinda thought bullets would kill me right out. Weird."
───<Khadijah>───────────────
Khadijah does indeed give Spade the gun back and calls out to Joe. "I'm unarmed! Come back!" And as he does she walks up and gives him a hug. She is riddled with as many holes. "You're pretty good at this. I'm impressed." She musses the younger vampire's hair.
───<Joseph>───────────────
Joseph returns Khadijah's hug, grinning at her, "No hard feelings -- but I thought we were going to play paintball. Not shoot at each other. Why didn't it hurt as bad as I thought it would?" The question is asked of the Ventrue, with sincerity.
───<Spade>───────────────
Spade goes and collects the other pistol, loads both mags with 5 more rounds, and the arena is reset for the next bout. Khadijah and Joe are offered a ride back out of South LA, at least as far as Warehouse district, and two more painters are called up for a bout. It turns out that next available is Bartok and Nisha.
