Biography

Aisling O'Rourke was born on March 2, 2002, in the village of Clondalkin, Ireland, just west-southwest of Dublin. Her father, Sean, was a U.S. national of Irish descent temporarily living in Ireland when he met and married Fiona. Aisling's birth granted her dual Irish and American citizenship. At the age of five the family returned to the United States, settling in a quiet Boston suburb where Aisling spent the rest of her childhood.

In her early teens she drifted toward the occult, first through a quiet fascination with the history of Salem and its witch trials, then deeper into Wiccan and Pagan religious theory. She became an outcast at school, keeping only a handful of close friends. By her mid-teens she had fallen in love with the living world itself; weekends were spent hiking and exploring the state parks and protected forests west and north of Boston. A fierce streak of environmental activism sharpened her rebellious edge, and she was never shy about trading words-or fists-with anyone who mocked her beliefs.

At seventeen, on the drive home from a weekend camping trip her parents had reluctantly allowed, the car she rode in was struck head-on by an eighteen-wheeler. The small vehicle was crushed and set ablaze. Her three friends died instantly. Aisling survived by what the world would call a miracle and what she would later name her Awakening. Trapped in the burning backseat, broken and bleeding, she saw a being she came to call The Witch: a nude, dark-haired mirror of herself, older and merciless. The apparition commanded her to push past the pain, wake up, and step into her destiny. When emergency responders finally reached the wreck they found the lone survivor standing amid the smoke in perfect physical health, her clothes charred and blood-soaked but her body untouched.

In the months that followed, Aisling's life in Boston became increasingly difficult under the weight of grief and local scrutiny. To survive and channel her newly awakened gifts she began supporting herself as a pagan street performer-fortune telling, small ritual demonstrations, and spiritual advising along the city's historic sidewalks and parks. While traveling through Boston on Tradition business, Jabari Rowan-an African-American Verbena of the Moon-Seeker sub-faction based in Long Beach, California-happened upon her during one of those performances. Sensing the raw touch of the Witch still lingering on her, he took her under his wing. Their initial mentorship remained distant and sparse while she finished her final months of high school.

After turning eighteen in March 2020 and her graduating High School the following June, Aisling relocated to Long Beach to study more closely under Jabari. There her tutelage deepened into a nurturing yet strictly professional relationship. With his guidance she formally joined the Moon-Seekers. In Long Beach, she continued earning her living as a pagan street performer, fortune teller, and advisor along the piers and night markets. Through that work, she gathered a small, tight-knit cult of five strong, loyal believers in and around Long Beach-individuals who occasionally aid her rites in exchange for her continued services and tutelage.

At nineteen she faced her First Seeking. The Witch appeared once more, challenging her not to settle for complacency but to strive for something greater. Aisling answered the call and took her next big step toward personal Ascension.

In more recent months, the dark side within Aisling manifested during an altercation with a Hermetic mage from the local Long Beach chantry when the young Verbena erupted into a violent outburst, leaving the Hermetic seriously injured. To shield her from the immediate consequences and to further her growth, Jabari took responsibility for his student's actions.

Jabari has now sent her north to Los Angeles. In early March 2025 she arrives to take up residence at The Ascension Lodge in an arrangement made through one of Jabari's trusted contacts. The move distances Aisling from the heat of her outburst while positioning her to observe, for Jabari and the broader Moon-Seeker network, how the Hermetic-heavy Ascension Lodge truly receives Verbena, and how capable its rumored Ecstatic and Etherite dual leadership actually is.
