Selene is a fairly recent arrival to Los Angeles, and will soon be opening a neopagan book and supply shop called the Stars and Stones. Hopefully no one will sue her. She is an unabashed hedonist and very 'out' witch, complete with tattoos and pentagram jewelry. Anywhere eccentric types gather, hippies or queerfolk or bodymod addicts, Selene might be among them. She tries to hit the beach at least once a week, usually in the evening after closing the store. And, of course, there are the clubs. Sometimes just for dancing, often to find a partner (or partners) for the night.
Character Hooks Witch: Depending on one's views, Selene might seem like a festival hippie, a beach bum, or just another LA weirdo. She /does/ almost always wear a pentagram, though, along with a quartz point and occasionally some other jewelry. Dancer: Selene is a dancer at heart. She'll dance in clubs, at haflas, on stages, anywhere. She loves sharing dance and movement with others, whether that's through teaching, going to clubs, or performing in public. Belly dance, burlesque, a little bit of this, a little bit of that... she's had some training, but it also just seems to be part of her nature. She's one of those people who moves a little even while standing still, often swaying slightly or gesturing with her speech. Queer: She doesn't have any emblematic tattoos, but Selene is definitely part of the queer community and would probably describe herself as omnisexual. She doesn't wear t-shirts often, but when she does they might say 'pride was a riot' or carry some other queer-focused message. Hedonist: Not a creature of restraint, Selene will almost always seek pleasure - and often wants to open the minds of others to new experiences. There will seldom be pressure (she very much believes in free will!) but she will almost always encourage others to indulge themselves, especially when it comes to the pleasures of sex or drugs.
RP Hooks It's your thing: Personal freedom is sacred, and much of the time Selene will encourage others to follow impulses and instincts. She lives by the 'an ye do no harm' code: as long as you're not causing harm to others, do your thing, let your freak flag fly, and live out loud. While she respects the boundaries of the shy, she will also encourage quieter people to come out into the light, to speak, and to explore new experiences. Allow me to retort: Complex reasoned argument might not be her forte, but Selene enjoys challenging people's preconceptions. This sometimes takes the form of shocking behavior. She loves eliciting reactions from people, often by pushing back on conventional ideas or breaking conversation taboos. The weird and the wondrous: As one might expect of the owner of an occult-oriented business, Selene is well-versed in a few esoteric subjects and loves to learn about that sort of thing. She's also interested in the many paths people find to enlightenment, and in the many ways one can open the doors of the mind.
