Tlascal
"Mother earth will retaliate, the whole environment will retaliate, and the abusers will be eliminated. Things come full circle, back to where they started. That's revolution." -Russell Means
The Sacred Self
Tlascal Chapul Mata, who is called Kundumani by a select few, is something of an ephemeral mystery. There are known facts: He was born and raised in San Bernardino, and is from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. Now he haunts the streets of Los Angeles. An enigma, he dresses too nicely to be unhoused, but can always be found in back alleys and abandoned lots, foraging through weeds, or picking interesting trinkets out of canals and dumpsters. He is something of a landscaping terrorists, randomly planting herbs, food, and flowers on his daily walks. And there is also that gentle, heavy aura of dread he seems to carry with him. Something isn't quite right.

Threads in the Tapestry
- Southern California Native. Literally. San Manuel. Tlascal honors his heritage and ancestry, but is living some distance from his family. The reasons are painful and complicated.
- Sometimes does dirty work for hire. Doesn't squawk at the sight of blood and can put down a suture in a pinch. Tlascal has been hired more than once to stitch a knife or bullet wound and keep his mouth shut. The hired knife? Those are just rumors.
- Spends a lot of time out hiking and plant-gazing in his spare time. Tlascal has strong relationship with flora, and seems to care about them a lot more than his neighbors.
- Loves to dance, and that is about as social as he chooses to be. Some of his dancing is normal, out on the dance floor, mixing together Goth and Desi styles...but sometimes he dances down the sidewalk, alone, as if no one could see him, or he didn't care. He's mad.
