Date and Time: January 18, 2021 (OOC: March 15, 2022)
Summary: The celebration held for the Grand Re-Opening of the nightclub (The Flux Capacitor) after the club being ICly closed for renovations.
Dance Club - The Flux Capacitor - Silver Lake
The ground floor of this nightclub is basically one large, open space, and the music that plays is (mostly rock) from the '70s, '80s, and '90s. The centermost part of it is basically one big dance floor, with a stage (for the occasional live act) at the far end of the room, away from the entrance. As one enters, with the entrance to their back, there is a long bar, serving drinks and snacks, along half the length of the left wall, starting halfway down and going all the way back into the far corner. The rest of that wall, like the entirety of the right wall of the place, is lined with booths and tables. The right side also has a row of free-standing tables and chairs running parallel with the booths, and a small section of similarly free-standing tables and chairs fills the area immediately before the entrance. A set of stairs, one on each side, go up to the second floor of the place, with an elevator tucked away under each stairwell for additional access. In display cases on the walls throughout the club are posters, photos, and album covers for various groups and their live shows (all from the '70s, '80s, and '90s). In the back of the place, there are doors that provide access to the backstage areas and to the club's business offices. Over the bar is the club's icon and namesake. Inside a box of gray metal, with a window allowing them to be seen, are three neon strips that glow with blue light. They form a sort of 'Y' shape, the blue light seeming to flow from the outermost points to the center. Above this box is 'FLUX' and below it is 'Capacitor', both words written in glowing blue neon tubing. It's the night of the grand re-opening of The Flux Capacitor. It was scheduled on Monday evening, instead of on a weekend, which is unusual for a nightclub, but nonetheless, it seems to be a good night for it -- it's about 7 pm and there's already a good crowd in the place, most of it having arrived before the official time of the event. The bartenders and other staff of the club are in full force, already fairly busy with keeping up with orders of drinks and such, and the music is (as always) the club's usual blend of the '70s, 80s, and 90's rock.
---<Tabi>---------------
Tabi's wearing a gauze-like black blouse, with silver 'specks' on it that sparkle when the light hits them at the right angle... and nothing underneath it, even though it basically hides nothing from view. Long-sleeved, the blouse is caught up on her forearms by black leather bracers that have what look like polished steel plates rivets to them. Around her neck is a necklace made of triangular pieces of metal. From the waist down, she's covered by black cotton leggings, with silver 'specks' like those on the blouse, but this piece of clothing isn't at all transparent. On her feet are a pair of shiny, black, stiletto-heeled leather boots that go up to a few inches below each knee, with metal plates riveted to their sides, the stiletto heel seemingly made of the same metal, with thick leather straps wrapping around in three spots to secure the boots to her feet. The black cotton leggings blouse down into the top of each boot. She has dark shadow under each eye, and maroon above, with metallic sparkles on each side of her nose, right near each eye. Her fingernails are painted black, each with a different symbol/icon/swirl of bright red seemingly inlaid into the black polish, skillfully and artfully done. Her lips are painted a non-glossing shade of red. Standing over by the bar, Tabi's swaying and bobbing her head up and down with the music, a glass of some dark-colored mixed drink in one of her hands, from which she takes a sip every so often.
---<Nicodemus>---------------
There is a mild disappointment in Nicodemus's eyes when he hears the playlist. But that is not because he dislikes the genre. It's just that he prefers the Rat Pack era. Sinatra. Davis Jr., You know. Even better music (Subjective of course). But he arrives in style out front, giving Desmond instructions to keep the car in the area, and then to head inside and just relax and enjoy himself. And he is dressed to kill. Okay, maybe not. He is dressed in his usual suit. But to make it a bit more festive, his shirt is a metallic shimmery silver in color, with a metallic blue necktie. Sure, that part stands out. He also has a different hat on tonight. It's a bright blue Fedora. What? It's festive! But he steps inside to remove said hat, and hand it over to the coat check and with a flourish, rolls the hat down his arm until he is holding it out towards the person behind the counter... all with a 'shit-eating-grin' on his face
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro Lopez, for the night merely a normal citizen of the grand city of Los Angeles, is wearing one of his immaculately pressed tailored charcoal suits. No signs of his office beyond the very faintest whiff of magic about him that all but the most Aware would detect, and even then only with great difficulty. Tonight, for the most part, he is merely here to support the undertakings of one of his people and to ensure that none put said venture or the community at large at risk. "Ms. Foster," he says with a casual but polished timbre, "it gladden somewhat pale but Mediterannean looking man, something a little stiff about the way in which he moves, but he is just another one of the rather odd Angelinos that have made the city, or part of it at least, his own.
---<Clarence>---------------
While crowds of people come in and out to see the new bright and shining nightclub that is in impeccable condition for its grand opening something much nastier comes inside behind a crowd of people that remains unseen to most. The massive, robed creature, Clarence, carefully roams his way into the new club with glowing, yellowish-green eyes peering out from beneath its hood to take in its surroundings. For now, it stalks unseen in the crowd and its bandaged feet leave behind a squishy goo upon the floor that hopefully, no innocent dancer slips upon.
---<Calvin>---------------
Calvin looks fairly plain, dressed in jeans and a button-down shirt, and otherwise not trying to stand out. However, with his lined face with crooked features, and his hair frizzed and standing out, he doesn't always achieve this. The music gets a bit of a nod, as he looks around, and, for the moment, sees no one he recognizes. So he starts to make his way towards the bar.
---<Elizabeth>---------------
Elizabeth arrived early and has been keeping to herself, even going so far as to avoid greeting the club owner and host of the grand re-opening event. The small woman is dressed in an off-white dress that could place anywhere from the 1930s to late 1960s, perhaps, but misses the club's ideal decade. Matching nylon stockings and a pair of plain, white flats complete her outfit. She wanders at a slow pace and pauses frequently to stare at a poster or album cover on one of the walls of the main club room.
---<Tabi>---------------
Tabi smiles and holds up her glass to Alejandro as if in salute, and obviously in reply to what he said after he walked up to where she is at the bar. "Thank you", she verbally adds, using the lifting-up of her drink as an excuse to take another sip from it. Beyond that, she just keeps doing her sorta-dancing/head-bobbing thing while staying near the bar -- from where, if anyone watches her for a bit, she's clearly just watching the crowd.
---<Xena>---------------
Xena is stag tonight but that didn't stop her from dressing up and coming to check the place out. The people all around makes her smile, she sways and dances to the music like a leaf in the wind. Going where the music carries her, which seems to be the bar.
---<Spade>---------------
Proceeding into the club amongst the eager re-opening crowd, Spade is jostled, but hardly as much as would be normal, managing just a tiny aura of space, probably because he's very clearly a cholo gangbanger from South LA and certainly no supernatural reason. He strolls casually, hands in the pockets of his royal blue Dickies despite the crowd. Dude doesn't seem to have arrived with anyone, immediately moving out of the flow of the crowd and finding some wall space to take up and take in the ambiance of the club for a while.
---<Crow>---------------
Crow has already been mingling some with the Crowd, resplendent in a dress of shimmering green scales. The dress, a fusion of fabric and metal, brings to mind nothing more than the scales of a Drake. AS the light plays over its surface, the hue shifts almost hypnotically, insinuating much but revealing little. She seems to be content in enjoying the Music, having partaken of the dance floor already but has retired briefly to the bar for a drink, both to cool off and to get more into the mood of things. She raises her own glass in Tabi's direction after hearing Alejandro's words, a wordless salute in the gesture. She sips at the drink with a sigh of satisfaction, some softly smoking concoction in her hands.
---<Becky>---------------
Becky's attire could be considered 'grunge', what with the oversized bad t-shirt and leather jacket. She could have come right out of the 90s! Once inside, she lingers near the entrance, back pressed a convenient wall and watching the people as they move about. Catching sight of Elizabeth, she starts to make her way towards her.
---<Clover>---------------
Arriving in her typical Tank Girl-inspired attire, Clover's eyes are big as she looks around the place with wide-eyed interest. A no-drinks band on her left wrist in bright UV reactive green also may draw attention to the slender platinum wedding band she wears. She aimlessly moves through the excited gathering, spotting a few familiar faces, perching herself near enough Tabi to be noticed and give a wave if that happens.
---<Heng>---------------
Sarah had heard through the grapevine that Tabi's club was going to throw a big bash! Walking through the doors, the older woman didn't know if she would find the usual miscreants here from the other visits but she figured something non-alcoholic was a good way to start the night
---<Winter>---------------
Winter comes out from the office dressed in leather. Black leather jeans and a sleeveless leather vest that dips low enough to almost be daring. Cowboy boots on her feet. Within three steps she's already singing softly along with the song that's currently playing in the club and then step dancing to the beat. Spying Tabi she alters her course and hip checks the other woman with a grin.
---<Tabi>---------------
Tabi does eventually spot Clover, as the latter nears the bar, and lifts her free hand to wave -- trying to get Clover's attention -- so as to invite her friend over to where she's at. Then Winter's there, and she returns the hip-check in time with the one she receives. "Great turnout, tonight!", she says to Winter, making a gesture at the club's crowd as a whole with the hand that's holding her drink.
---<Clarence>---------------
The unseen beast finally emerges at the edge of the dancefloor to find a wall to lean upon. For now, Clarence simply leans his robed form against the wall while allowing his feral eyes to take in the who's who, and what's going on in the club.
---<Elizabeth>---------------
Elizabeth's arms rest limply at her sides as she walks from one album cover or era-appropriate poster to the next. A slight, pouty hint of a frown decorates her makeup-less face as she continues her circuit. The skinny little woman moves up to the next poster in line before suddenly turning her head to the left, toward Becky who is on approach. The pouty frown lingers as she watches the other incoming, though her gaze flicks passed the other woman and toward a spot of the wall where the large form of Clarence has just appeared. Elizabeth tilts her head in a sudden, strange jerk as if beckoning the robed figure over.
---<Theo>---------------
One to often be fashionably late, another dressed in 'scales' arrives at the grand opening. Theodore's attire is one of his typical suits, a Stuart Hughes tonight. The hue is a dark verdant, it is designed with geometric squares to appear as reptilian scales from a distance. His shoes are snakeskin. Perched on the man's nose is a pair of round golden wire frame glasses, the lenses tinted green. On his head, Theo is wearing an old-style black fedora with a dark green band matching his suit. As he enters the club, his driver, and even darker-skinned man than he and also dressed in a fairly nice charcoal suit, flanks him. Theo casts a glance over the club and how busy it is, a thin smile tugging at his lips. With a word, James splits away, heading right for the bar to acquire two beers, both of them from the tap. When he returns, handing one of them to Theodore, he takes a drink and tips his head, "Perfect."
---<Alejandro>---------------
"Ms. Tanner," Alejandro says with the same polish, upon crossing the floor to greet her "it is good to see you out and about. I missed you at the art exhibit, my sister Avery stole the show though my own piece was well enough received for one as artistically clumsy as I am." The self-effacing lacks any pretense of humor. He follows the jerk of the head to Clarence and raises an eyebrow questioningly and leans into Elizabeth to whisper something.
---<Nicodemus>---------------
Once his hat has been handed over to the coat check girl... what? Do you think he'd hand over his suit coat? Pffff! Whatever! Anyhow, Nicodemus steps further inside, his feet moving to the rhythm of the music. It's pretty much unconscious that he does that. What? Music kind of makes him want to dance. But he heads towards Tabi, holding his hands out with an outgoing gregarious look to him. "Your club is the hit of the town!" he exclaims, "Congratulations!"
---<Xena>---------------
Xena waits her turn and once she gets to order it's a Bahama mama in a large glass with extra cherries. She dances in place as she waits for her drink order, the Bartenders are quick and Xena pays and leaves a nice tip. This will probably be her only drink of the night.
---<Nisha>---------------
Wearing a red wig and black t-shirt with the words, 'I'm only happy when it rains...', Nisha was dressed down in casual blue jeans and green converse shoes, totally inspired by Shirley Manson from Garbage. The half-Korean sipped on a tall beer as she sat by herself at a booth. Watching people come and go from a distance and giving the occasional wave to friendly faces. Mainly watching the dancers and celebration, it was nice just to people watch.
---<Aeon>---------------
Aeon makes his way in with his usual jeans and hoodie, not feeling compelled to wear anything special for the occasion, but determined to make the trip to be among all the people. He steps into the place for the first time and his first point of order is to take a look around, taking in the sight of the place. He keeps to himself and winds through the rooms, checking the place out with his head on a slow swivel. After his stroll through the club has brought him back around to having visited most nooks and crannies, he then turns his attention to the guests, standing back in a corner and observing the crowd.
---<Becky>---------------
Becky's expression grows somewhat puzzled as she draws closer to Elizabeth and her nose gives something of a twitch. This is followed by a visible wince and a shake of her head. She mumbles darkly under her breath, before collecting herself and returning her full attention to the woman before her. "Hey," she greets, followed by a bit of a pause. "Was Tanner, right?"
---<Crow>---------------
Crow is humming to herself from her spot at the bar, idly sipping at her drink as she watches the crowd move about her. There's a strange, almost calculating expression on her features as she watches some of the people moving about the floor, her head tilted to one side. She frowns to herself, but it smoothes away quickly into something politely smiling again before long.
---<Heng>---------------
When at the bar, Sarah orders a drink and sits at the bar for the moment to people watch and converse with whoever is at the bar with her.
---<Clover>---------------
Not too hard to spot for that uniquely thick, fluffy red mane, Clover returns to the waves of movement, bobbing her way eventually near enough the bar that she's visible to not just Calvin but also Aeon, approaching the former with a sheepish smile and upnod. "Hey, I know you, right? From work?"
---<Elizabeth>---------------
Elizabeth's gaze snaps away from that distant spot of the wall before settling on Alejandro and she stares at the man for a solid second before forcing that pouty frown away. Her smile widens as she is addressed by name and she replies in turn with a slow cadence and rich Bostonian accent. "Mister Lopez. Good Miss Thornton stole the show? Mmm. It is a shame I was... predisposed. I would have -loved- to see it." The scrawny waif steps in almost against Alejandro's side as Becky reaches them and she fixes the new arrival with a dull stare. "Yes. It -was- Tanner. Have you met Alejandro Lopez yet? He works Downtown."
---<Tabi>---------------
"I sure hope so!", Tabi calls back in reply to Nicodemus, then laughs merrily, before finishing off the drink in her glass. Turning to put the empty on the bar nearby, she doesn't seem about to ask for another, at least not immediately, instead of reaching out to loop her arm around Winter for a moment, a quick hug before letting go of the other woman. "Love the shirt, by the way", she says, pointing a finger at Nicodemus.
---<Calvin>---------------
Calvin, at the bar, also waits, and then when he can, asks for a Roy Rogers. Offering a tip as well, and then he takes his drink and nods to Clover as she comes over. "Well...I think I've seen you before, but I'm down in Downtown for my work, not out north?"
---<Winter>---------------
Winter nods with a laugh to Tabi, taking another look around at all the folks. She gives a nod to Nicodemus and steps back to let the two have their talk and Tabi's well-earned compliments. "I'm going to walk about and say hello to folks." She says to Tabi in a low voice close to her ear.
---<Spade>---------------
At some point a group of club-goers, enjoying the re-opening loudly, and why shouldn't they, disturb Spade from his wallflower spot. Shifting sideways he moves away and begins pacing around the fringes of the room, avoiding the bar, perhaps hunting a free booth or a spot in the corner near the stage that's slightly less crowded and more apt for lingering.
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro laughs brightly at Elizabeth "Works is perhaps a bit of an overstatement. I sit on a charitable board and head an organization that provides private security to a distinct clientele. Most of my days are spent investigating some obscure piece of academic interest. I am a very bookish type." He offers his hand to Becky, "Pleasure to make your acquaintance, though I may have seen you at one of the functions in the Disney Concert Hall. My organization provides security therefore Ms. Hasting's events."
---<Caspian>---------------
Caspian probably would have thought prior to this evening that he'd lived in Los Angeles long enough to see any variation of a busy club that's possible to see. Before tonight, that is. The absolute teeming chaos that is opening night at the Flux Capacitor seems to be a whole new level. He's simply wearing black tonight - jeans, t-shirt, Chelsea boots, and glasses, all black - and has his hands shoved in his pockets as he looks around the place as if judging where it's safe to put his body in this mess of people. Bar. The bar is a good place to go. Drinks are going to be necessary if any of them are going to survive the evening, that much is for certain, and it seems others have had a similar idea.
---<Heng>---------------
Sarah watches the pair at the bar talk though not trying to eavesdrop she can't help but overhear bits of conversation.
---<Theo>---------------
Casually, in no real hurry, Theodore heads deeper into the club to mingle. It doesn't take long for him to spot Tabi, however, and that is the direction he heads. When he catches her, Theo waits for her to find freedom from others before stepping in to dip his head in a small bow, "Madamoiselle. How does the night find you?" Taking a sip of his beer and looking out over the crowd before returning attention to her, "It appears a successful grande opening, non?" A pause before then asking, "How is the Nectar going over?" <English>
---<Clover>---------------
"Yeah, yeah, different branch. But yeah, Clo," comes Clover's answer to Calvin, jamming her hand forward for what can be described as a confident if not manly squeeze and single pump handshake, the red lipstick showcasing her big smile. A little Texas twang in her voice and is easy to discern, and since she has to speak louder over the music the scratchiness in her voice is a little more pronounced.
---<Clarence>---------------
Clarence folds its large robed arms across its chest while shifting its weight against the wall. Through the clearing, it just simply watches with those eerie glowing eyes moving from one group to the next and watching it all closely from its unseen position. Well, unseen but to a few select people.
---<Addison>---------------
Addison makes his way down the stairs into the club. He stops at the entrance, eyes going wide at the size of the crowd inside. "Well then," he remarks, dragging his tongue over his upper lips as he tries to survey if he could make his way through all of this. After the crowd, he notices something else. Not the music. He notices that second to last. After the initial overstimulation has faded he starts to pick out faces he knows in the crowd. After someone barks from behind for him to stop blocking the door, he moves a little deeper inside.
---<Aeon>---------------
Aeon smiles at Clover with instant recognition and he heads her way, wordlessly. He tucks his hands into the pockets of his sweatshirt as he moves through and around the crowd, slipping by nimbly to reach the woman and Calvin. He seems to be overly cautious about it but eventually makes his way, landing next to her and just smiles, looking out at the crowd, people watching. He gives Calvin a nod as well, but otherwise just hovers in their presence without engaging in conversation, content to just be close to the people he knows.
---<Xena>---------------
Xena gets her drink and decides to see what's going on upstairs. She hears fun sounds and of course, with so many people in one place, it's hard to hear her phone should anyone be looking for her. Sipping her fruity drink she makes sure she can go up with it and then makes her way up.
---<Crow>---------------
Crow continues to sit at the bar, albeit with a vague eye on the dancefloor, seemingly not paying any attention to the conversation going on around her. She shrugs, downing the rest of her drink and gesturing to the Barman, a questioning look on her face "Anything with a bit more apple?" <English>
---<Becky>---------------
"Yes. Wanted to see what it was like," Becky says, as she accepts the offered hand and shakes it. "Getting better around crowds," she says while taking a quick glance around her. "Still don't like them. Elizabeth's dull stare is met with one that is openly curious and mildly confused. "Used to be Tanner? What, you get hitched or something?"
---<Tabi>---------------
Tabi nods her head in reply to Winter's words, all smiles. "Good evening, Mister Le Roy", she says, to Theo when he arrives at her location. "It goes well, thus far, proving quite popular", she says to him. "Of course... it -is- a novelty, thus far", she adds. "Would you care for a drink?" She's already raising a hand to get the attention of a bartender as she's asking the last part of Theo.
---<Heng>---------------
Sarah Scoots in and can't help but intrude on Calvin and Clover's conversation with a smile of her own. "That's lucky, working for the same company but in different branches!"
---<Calvin>---------------
Calvin nods. "But also nice to be someplace not related to work at all," he says. His voice is warm and projects through the noise despite not being raised loudly. "Anyhow, I'm Calvin," he says, first shaking Clover's hand and then turning to Sarah. "And it's nice to meet you too
---<Nisha>---------------
Taking a sip from her beer, Nisha plays on her phone hitting a few buttons and mainly watching her screen. Occasionally, looking up at how the various social groups unfold. Giving Tabi a thumbs up, it seemed to be a popular grand opening and everything was going well so far.
---<Lunette>---------------
Just another making their way into the club for its grand opening is Lunette, who is dressed in a tight, black number tonight, with her hair pulled back and a bit of kohl smudged about her lash line. Her small clutch is held in her right hand, and she pulls it closer to her body as she moves inside, stepping around and between others, nearly lost amongst the sea of bodies. As she moves about, she looks here and there with a purpose.
---<Elizabeth>---------------
Elizabeth hovers right on Alejandro's arm though barely actually touches it and she stares at Becky while Alejandro explains the nature of his work. "Oh. Hitched? -Never-. It's a long... boring... story." She adds before flashing Becky a brief little smile. Leaning in against Alejandro's side, the waif murmurs in her rich Boston accent, "It's fun when they don't know." Pause. "Have you met the club owner? -I- haven't either."
---<Theo>---------------
"Tres Bon, excellent," he responds upon hearing how things are going. "I am most pleased for your fortune." Theodore declares to the club owner. When Tabi offers him a drink, the dark-skinned man lifts his own to show her, but after a moment replied, "Certainly. I'll buy another." Then he promptly downs the last half of his current beer. "Perhaps I am biased, but I do enjoy it," he comments to Tabi with a thin smile. <English>
---<Caspian>---------------
Sidling through the crowd, Caspian slides shoulder-wise up to the crowded bar. "Hello!" he calls, raising his voice above the din to the bartender. "Give me one of whatever's on tap, whatever's quickest." With two fingers, he slides a neatly folded bill across the counter, and glances briefly around the club floor, before zeroing in on somebody apparently familiar, and turning back to the bartender. "Keep the change. Whatever he has, it's on me as well. Cheers!" He turns more fully to face the crowd again, then, with his back to the bar. Something near one of the walls catches his eye and makes him either laugh, or cough, or both, for a moment, but soon enough he's back to people-watching.
---<Winter>---------------
Winter checks over the crowd, making sure things are going smoothly. Or as smoothly as they can. She slips behind the bar briefly to ensure the tenders have enough in the cash drawers and then gets herself a drink before heading on up to the second floor, grinning the whole way.
---<Clover>---------------
Clover expectantly thrusts her tomboy handshake hand towards Sarah and gives her the same solid shake Calvin got if it's accepted. Aeon gets a few friendly elbow nudges into his side and a smile. "I'm Clo," she introduces to Sarah, letting her other friend speak for himself.
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro waves to Nisha from across the room, and to Winter and Theo, before leaning into Elizabeth "I believe we met at one of the events at the Concert Hall, though it may have been one of the charity events at the Manor, it's hard to keep tabs of where I know various folks from. A singer, I believe, or poet. One of the creative types that tend to gather at such events. Rather surprised I didn't see her at the installation on Saturday."
---<Addison>---------------
Eventually, Addison would make his way over to the bar, doing a double-take at Calvin as if he's not really sure he'd seen him here. A Priest? At a club? Well. It was Los Angeles. As he finds himself squashed somewhere near Crow he turns around to greet the blonde with the grin of a startled animal. "This is certainly a place that exists in the world." He'd lean in and attempt to whisper something though it's hard to tell if Crow would even be able to hear him over all the club noise and Madonna.
---<Tabi>---------------
With a little laugh, Tabi orders herself another Cuba Libre, and a refill on Theo's beer. As she leans back on the bar, she gets a pondering look on her face. "I don't remember much from the French classes I took in high school… lessee... Uhm... Je ne parle pas le Francais?", she says to Theo.
---<Xena>---------------
Xena pauses at the base of the stairs, sipping her drink till it's a little lower, not wanting to spill. Her eyes drift about and she moves to let people up careful not to get in the way.
---<Heng>---------------
"I am Sarah. I actually didn't know this place was getting this big of an opening. I have already been here once or twice and it seemed open already… Maybe I just don't get the club life?"
---<Crow>---------------
Crow cocks her head in curiosity as Alejandro mentions an event at the Concert hall, and looks about to ask a question before Addison shows up. She shakes her head to herself before smiling at the man. "I find that most places tend to be." she chuckles. "Unless they're not, of course." she shrugs again, an amused twist to her features. At whatever it is that is said, she laughs lightly, swatting him on the shoulder before leaning back in to murmur something, expression strange. <English>
---<Lunette>---------------
Lunette's gaze drifts about as the music plays, and though others maybe dancing or having a time chatting near the bar, the young woman looks as if she's on a mission. Her gaze is narrowed and like a hawk's, shifting here and there as she sways through the crowd. Still, on the hunt, it appears.
---<Clarence>---------------
The unseen beasts' gaze pauses on the group surrounding Alejandro and Elizabeth Clarence's creepy hooded gaze lingers on them for some time before drifting once more about the club. It is still content to hold up the wall and people watch though
---<Aeon>---------------
Aeon gives a smile to Sarah as he takes elbows from Clover like a champ. He gives a quick upward nod of his head towards Sarah and introduces himself as "Aeon. What's up." He gives a glance around and says, "It's the presentation," in response to the fact that the club has already been open for a while. "People love to be part of an event. So sometimes a club opens three or four times for different groups of people. It is to bring in all the people." He mods towards the center of the crowded room with a nod. "And apparently it works."
---<Becky>---------------
Becky's head cocks to one side and she looks ever more confused. Finally, she makes a soft sound before finally just going 'huh'. Shifting slightly from foot to foot and starting to look uncomfortable, she crams her hands into the pockets of her leather jacket.
---<Nicodemus>---------------
And so, once the social niceties were observed, Nicodemus moves out of the crowd. He loves to watch people interact, and he goes back to that routine. Just standing off to one side where he can watch the crowd do their .. thang.
---<Theo>---------------
With a glance at Tabi, the Frenchman makes a dour expression. "Your words are correct, but your accent should be added to the terrorist watch list." A smile does emerge, however for the woman and he adds, "You do well enough with English." Perhaps a subtle way to tell her she should stick to it. Theodore does catch the wave from Alejandro across the club. While he still has the other man's attention, a deep and rather dramatic bow is offered. Upon recovery, he takes a sip of his new beer and glances aside at Tabi, brows lifting as if first noticing her attire. "Forgive me for not mentioning it earlier. You look delicious in that dress." <English>
---<Nisha>---------------
Mr. Lopez would get an up nod from Nisha, but her gaze soon returns to her phone. Along with a large draw from her beer. Totally hogging her empty booth for now and casually observing things. Watching Xena momentarily.
---<Elizabeth>---------------
Elizabeth nods her head toward Alejandro before she looks back toward Becky and stares at the other woman, hazel-gaze taking in those signs of unease and discomfort. A pouty frown returns to the skinny woman's face and she turns back toward Alejandro. Eyes follow the man's gaze toward Nisha and Elizabeth's pout fades as she leans in to whisper something into Alejandro's ear.
---<Xena>---------------
Xena starts to go upstairs and lifts the glass careful not to trip on the steps as she goes up, up, up, and into the second floor. Smiling as she vanishes over the last step.
---<Addison>---------------
Addison tilts his head in turn to catch Crow's reply. He comes away shaking with hardly suppressed laughter. "--And I heard they -just- renovated." He says before looking over Crow's shoulder and then his own as if he'd lost something or someone in this throng of people. "I wouldn't want to be the guy who drops his glasses into that," he comments, still looking for whatever or whoever he'd lost.
---<Spade>---------------
Spade stalks along in front of the booths and then finds a little space where the dancefloor meets the stage, only to immediately resume his wall-leaning, dancing crowd watching of before. No drink, no friends, no dancing and not even obfuscated to hide that fact.
---<Tabi>---------------
"Well, I know... that's why I chose it, Mister Le Roy", Tabi says, reaching back to the bar to pick up her drink and Theo's refilled beer, handing the beer to him as she speaks. "It's been a while since I even thought about it, so you'll hafta excuse the accent!", she adds with a grin, before sipping with her drink.
---<Heng>---------------
"It's nice to meet you all!" She says a little louder to be heard over the music. "Like I said I don't get the club game at all. I just work in a small radio station."
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro tilts his head at the bow from Theo and raises his eyebrows, but ultimately shrugs. He leans into Elizabeth and whispers with a smile and a laugh, his hand on her shoulder very casually.
---<Clover>---------------
To those gathered Clover lifts her hand, showing the bright green no-drinks admission bracelet she wears (and a trim platinum wedding band). "Well I can't really party quite yet, but I had to get out and see some faces. Bumped into the club owner a couple of times, she has always been real nice to me. But holy hell this place is packed...I wonder if they got an outdoor smoking area or something." Clover's arms hug around herself, keeping near Aeon like she's glad for the backup in such a busy place.
---<Lunette>---------------
Lunette eventually wanders her way over towards the bar, but it isn't so she can get a drink.. and she's polite enough to where she stands off to the side and not in the way of anyone trying to be next in line for a drink. She turns around and leans back against the bar top, arms shifted back slightly and elbows resting on the edge, her gaze smoldering as she peers off through the crowd, unblinking, locked upon her target.
---<Calvin>---------------
So many people, so many about. Calvin smiles as he sips his drink, and nods to both Sarah and Clover. "Sorry. Everything's so loud and crowded. Probably better to talk somewhere where we don't have to compete with everything else?" He gives a smile and lifts his drink in a toast, before moving a bit down the bar, ending up a bit closer to Addison and Crow.
---<Caspian>---------------
Drink slid across the bar to him, Caspian receives it with a nod and a lift of the glass and pushes off the bar into the crowd. This is a dangerous prospect with a full drink, but it seems to be disappearing quickly. The beer, not the crowd, or Caspian. Caspian is probably saving his disappearing act for a paying audience.
---<Crow>---------------
Crow hums, taking a sip of her drink, something almost poisonously green. "Nor I." she watches Addison for a second, a curious expression on her features. "Looking for something Addison?" You look fit to crawl out of your skin there." she herself is relaxed against the bar, the iridescent scales of her dress shimmering in the shifting light of the Club. <English>
---<Nisha>---------------
Slipping her phone away into her back pocket, Nisha looks around and it seems everything is kosher here. Grabbing her beer, the woman snakes through the crowd like grass. Soon climbing the steps and heading upstairs.
---<Tabi>---------------
Tabi spots a familiar face and calls down the bar, "Hey! Looney!", waving her free hand in an attempt to get someone's attention. Then, still simply swaying and head-bobbing in time with the music, she stays generally where she's been the whole time, near the bar.
---<Theo>---------------
There is a brief expression of amusement at the response from Alejandro, but it is not lingered upon long. Theodore pays more attention to the owner and host for tonight's grand opening. "Indeed, if that is your intention, then you have hit the mark," he tells Tabi with a lingering gaze. "Mais non, do not concern yourself. The flow of our speech is not a thing easy to come by. Truly it requires being birthed in the country or many years of practice."
---<Sebastian>---------------
Dressed in his 90's grunge best, Sebastian makes it a little late to the grand re-opening, but make it he does. He looks like a throw-back skater, sporting Doc Martens, a blue and purple plaid shirt with an Ozzy Osbourne shirt under, and a pair of baggy jeans held up with a belt that's more chrome than leather. He doesn't make it quite to the bar, waylaid at the dance floor by a song he seems to love.
---<Becky>---------------
Becky seems to have reached her tolerance for the evening. Pulling a hand from her pocket, she lifts it in a silent farewell. Head sinking into her shoulders and back hunching up, the woman makes her retreat and heads for the exit.
---<Aeon>---------------
Aeon snorts derisively and says to Clover, "Like anyone is gonna notice if you drink with all this chaos around. You're fine at the party if you want to. I got you. Let me know what you want and I'll get it." He continues to stand back though, watching Sarah every now and again, attempting to get a read on her between glances. He didn't dress for the occasion and doesn't really hold a candle in the style department, but he still subjects himself to the social scene, just as everyone else at the party. He asks Sarah, "Which radio station? Are you a DJ?"
---<Elizabeth>---------------
Elizabeth leans in and listens to Alejandro's reply while still staring at Becky. She watches the other woman's departure and calls out a soft, "Until next time..." before turning to Alejandro. "I think I chased her off." She adds for the man before leaning in to whisper something else. While whispering, the woman catches sight of Lunette at the bar and smiles wickedly.
---<Clarence>---------------
Clarence remains a perfectly still wallflower as it watches from its unseen position. The creature has been there long enough that a small pool of some slick substance has formed around its bandaged feet, but it remains still as it watches.
---<Addison>---------------
"A sense of self-respect," Addison replies to Crow, "but I don't think I'll find it here." He'd eventually find what he was actually looking for right next to him. Sometimes your missing pair of pants were on your ass the whole time. He reaches out to Caspian's black T-shirt to rest a hand on his shoulder. "I thought you died!" Oh. There's a drink in front of him. Addison takes a drink of whatever Caspian had ordered for him immediately downs a fourth of it.
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro shakes his head at Elizabeth, continuing his private conversation with her.
---<Lunette>---------------
With eye contact made, Lunette can't hide that wicked little grin that's sent right back towards Elizabeth, lips tugging back nice and slow as her gaze hoods a touch more. She's starting to look downright devious as she watches the woman as if the club was empty save for the two... but then she catches the little nickname she earned herself and she slowly turns her face to the side, head tilting back gently as her eyes roll-off to look towards Tabi's voice. She searches for the woman, and where she sees her, she.. well, she started to lift a hand to wave, but her eyes are suddenly distracted. While staring in Tabi's general chest area, one brow goes up.. and then the other.. and that grin returns. "Hi, Tabi," she sends softly towards the woman before she turns her face and looks for Elizabeth again. She remains lounging against the bar, waiting patiently.
---<Sebastian>---------------
Sebastian lets himself get pulled into the sea of bodies on the dance floor. He isn't the best dancer, but the young man knows how to move. It's interrupted here and there by him pushing up his glasses and the occasional jump as someone brushes or grabs a bit that he isn't quite expecting, but he's all smiles. When the song changes, he starts to resume his quest for the bar but doesn't make it too far, someone talking into his ear and trying to get him to stay for just one more song.
---<Tabi>---------------
Tabi, over the din of music and crowd, doesn't hear Lunette's softly-spoken greeting. She, too, stays where she is at the bar, drink in hand, sorta-dancing in place. "Just coming out for the re-opening party?", she asks of Theo. "... or did you need to talk biz or some kind?"
---<Crow>---------------
Crow snorts. "No need to be mean." she's shaking her head a wry smile on her features, as Addison seemingly drags someone new into the conversation. "Someone new?" there's a look of curiosity in her eyes. "Who's your friend, Addie?" <English>
---<Caspian>---------------
"Died?" Caspian asks, incredulously, his eyes staying fixed on the crowd. "Goodness, no, I was just ordering something to drink. House specialty or something, I believe. This is a very crowded club." He offers the lady Addison's speaking to a half-smile and a lift of his glass in her direction. "Caspian Coventry," he introduces himself; then leans in to say something to Addison with both eyebrows raised.
---<Theo>---------------
"I merely wished to see how they turn out was," Theodore responds with a tip of his head at the owner. "I will take my leave now. You should attend to your guests. We can always talk another time." he states before stepping away from Tabi to go back to mingling with the other party-goers. <English>
---<Elizabeth>---------------
Elizabeth's lips tighten as she pulls back after hearing Alejandro's whispered reply. "Oh. You have -nothing- to worry about from me, Alejandro. Of course." A momentary twitch runs through her upper body before she reaches out and intertwines her arm with his. "It wasn't 'me' after all... or it -was-, but you know what I mean." A slight nod of her head toward the bar and then the scrawny waif begins to guide Alejandro in that direction, toward the semi-vacant bar length between Tabi and Lunette.
---<Crow>---------------
"Crow." Crow returns. "Charmed." Though her expression says anything she is promptly ignored for a private conversation. Her expression clears as she regards Addison with a raised eyebrow. He should know better, at least.... <English>
---<Geffen>---------------
Geffen makes his way inside, probably ready for pounding industrial or goth music... but by the smile on his face, the vintage sounds of 'classic' rock seem -exactly- what the doctor ordered. Literally. "Oh... I get it. Like Back to the Future." He grins, seeing the prop in the middle. And he nods. "Noice."
---<Tabi>---------------
Tabi smiles, lifting her glass as if in salute to Theo, as he indicates he's going to be heading out. "Thanks for stopping by. Take care of yourself", she says to him.
---<Clover>---------------
Clover offers an ushering hand, behind but not touching each gent's shoulder. "Boys, I'm overloaded, so I'm stepping out for a smoke. Come with me if you like?" She offers them both a broad smile and if they stay she'll give a sturdy elbow bump, but any in tow are ushered with her in front.
---<Lunette>---------------
Lunette just leans back comfortably against the bar top, gaze once more upon Elizabeth, watching her quietly while her hips subtly shift this way and that to the music. She looks like she has all the time in the world and no worries.
---<Sebastian>---------------
Sebastian laughs as he dances, the song finally changing. His promise is fulfilled, he moves out of the dance floor and towards the bar. He laughs as one of the dancers shouts something about him coming back. Sebastian gives another wave and shrugs, making no promises. He makes it to the bar and takes a lean before ordering water. A bit less pressed, he takes a moment to glance around, smiling at the few he recognizes.
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro profers a nod of the head to Elizabeth as they walk, continuing to engage her in quiet conversation, offering Geffen a polite nod of recognition as the pair walk.
---<Tabi>---------------
As Sebastian comes to the bar, Tabi slides just a little bit aside to make room for him, being as she already has her own drink and he's just coming to get himself one.
---<Addison>---------------
Addison's eyes dart between Crow and Caspian. "He's very repented at the unfortunate circumstance of being English," he manages to sneak in before Caspian dips his head in to whisper. "What?" Addison says, eyes widening at whatever it was that Caspian had said to him. His eyes search the club with a glare and a knotted brow. "That guy owes me. Big. He's where?" His glare fades as he spots something else in the crowd to distract him. His shocked look soon turns into a grin when he spots Geffen out on the floor. "Wow. So is literally everyone in L.A. here tonight or only all the best people?"
---<Heng>---------------
"I'll follow y'all out. It is a tad crowded here!" Picking up her drink and following the little group
---<Geffen>---------------
Geffen is wearing a linen suit that's tailored and modern, but if he wanted to sell it as -in theme-, he'd tell people it's an exact replica of a Don Johnson Miami Vice era wardrobe selection. However, he's not doing it with just a t-shirt, so that kinda fails. Regardless, he makes his way around the heading for the bar. "Senor." He greets Alejandro as they pass.
---<Ophelia>---------------
Yes, Virginia, the club is being haunted. Ophelia exists, here in this place and time. Can anyone see her? Unlikely. Well except for one man, still striving, and driving, as hard as he can. A personal hell. Just for him. She is, safe on the other side of the shroud poking at his drink. From her place standing atop the bar. Easier to avoid running into people that way. "Hey, this any good? You given any thought to that book I told you about?"
---<Elizabeth>---------------
Elizabeth adopts a little smile as she hears something Alejandro says and then her lips are moving fast to offer a quick and quiet reply. She keeps her arm interlocked with his as they approach the bar, though her other hand rises to beckon Lunette over. Leading the way toward Tabi, Elizabeth fixes her with a dull, hazel stare as she slows to a stop nearby. "Tabi... -Hello-. You know Mister Lopez, don't you?"
---<Calvin>---------------
As Addison and his cronies are deep in conversation, Calvin leaves them to be and finishes his drink before setting it down and stepping away from the bar, starting to move through the crowds to see if there's anyone else he recognizes. Which is how he starts to make his way towards Geffen along with his path.
---<Sebastian>---------------
Sebastian smiles and nods his thanks when Tabi moves a little to make a bit more room. He leans in so he doesn't have to be too loud, offering, "Thanks! Super good turnout! This club is fantastic, don't you think?!" Yup. He's clueless. But sincere! He gets his water and takes a small swig. He turns a bit more to look back out over the dance floor, hips already starting to sway some. "Awesome," he says mostly to himself.
---<Caspian>---------------
"Beg your pardon," Caspian says quickly to Crow, but he uncurls a finger from around his glass to point something out to Addison, ducking his head to cough-laugh again. "I can't imagine what someone like that would owe you for, and I'm not sure I want to know. Although that's patently untrue, I certainly want to know." He sips his drink again, very stoically. Very stoically indeed. "It's quite an interesting and highly varied crowd for this sort of club, isn't it?"
---<Clarence>---------------
The unseen creature pushes off from its spot on the wall now after one final look about the area. Soon Clarence is departing towards the door only to leave more slimy marks on the dancefloor that it passes through.
---<Geffen>---------------
Geffen slows, giving a nod to Addison, then a rather warm smile as Calvin approaches him. "Ah, Father. Hitting the sauce tonight?" He chuckles. "I was gonna offer to buy you a drink."
---<Lunette>---------------
With Liz even closer now and making that motion with her hand, Lunette gently pushes herself off from the bar so she can take those few steps over, finally closing the distance between Liz and herself. She grins at the woman and reaches out to gently touch her hand, though her tough is light as two fingers walk along her palm and over her wrist, up her forearm, and higher to her shoulder as the brunette moves around her. Once standing behind Liz, and even though the woman has taken Alejandro's arm, Lunette slips her arms about Liz's waist and gives a lingering squeeze as she lowers her chin to rest on Liz's shoulder is the one on the opposite side of where Alejandro stands. She turns her face towards Liz's neck to a soft kiss, and then she's back to resting her chin there, eyes finally shifting towards Tabi to follow the conversation.
---<Calvin>---------------
"Well, I just had a Roy Rogers," Calvin says to Geffen. "And lots of crowding there, but I can go back if you're game. Enjoying it? The music...dated isn't the right word. The /club/ is deliberately dated, and the music matches wonderfully. Anyhow, how are you doing?"
---<Tabi>---------------
Tabi sets her drink down on the bar for a moment, to pull her phone out and get two hands on it, as if receiving a text and replying. Tucking the phone back away, she reclaims her drink and takes a sip from the glass once again -- and also returning to her swaying and head-nodding in time with the music. She's pretty much on her own, now... maybe she's not even getting asked to dance, 'cause most of the guys are scared off, maybe, by how she's dressed?
---<Geffen>---------------
Geffen says "I appreciate it being dated. Just like me." He chuckles, clapping Calvin on the shoulder. "I'm good. Been hip-deep in research for a grant. Nothing scandalous this time. It's something to help analyze street drugs so you can avoid the bad stuff. We've had a lot of new cases recently and... I can't stop 'em from being addicted, but I can help them do safe substances."
---<Talia>---------------
Talia arrives at the club while adorned in a white blouse and a pale blue pleated skirt. Upon her slender legs are white stockings that end just an inch beneath the hem of the skirt. Long blonde locks reach to her to the waist. She peeks around the crowded club, trying to get a sense of things, and waves over to Calvin.
---<Geffen>---------------
"I appreciate it being dated. Just like me." Geffen chuckles, clapping Calvin on the shoulder. "I'm good. Been hip-deep in research for a grant. Nothing scandalous this time. It's something to help analyze street drugs so you can avoid the bad stuff. We've had a lot of new cases recently and... I can't stop 'em from being addicted, but I can help them do safe substances."
---<Addison>---------------
Addison does another distracted double-take into the crowd as Calvin emerges again while Addison is watching Geffen approach the bar. "Oh. That -is- Father Hobbes in here," he says just above normal conversation volume. He glances over his shoulder to Crow. "Maybe we should get a booth or something." He tries to peer over the crowd to see if all the booths weren't taken.
---<Crow>---------------
Crow snorts. "Being English is hardly a Crime. Being rude might as well be." she shakes her head with a sigh. She does seem mollified at least somewhat when she's no longer being ignored.... even if she doesn't have any idea for what they're talking about. She waves Caspian off. "Buy me a drink and we'll call it even, hmm?" she shakes her head, chuckling. "But Addison knows everyone, so it's not surprising that someone owes him something." she regards the Gardener with a wry look. "Even if he can be a smidge late paying his own debts sometimes, hmm?" she chuckles in amusement. <English>
---<Nicodemus>---------------
In his dark gray suit with the black pinstripes, silvery shirt, and blue tie, Nicodemus is a striking piece of the background for sure. He is merely observing and enjoying the show for the most part. The thing is, it's a loud club and as such, he can't really -hear- what people are saying. He's mostly observing body language and such. Plus.. who is speaking with whom. That, and tapping a foot to the beat of the music because... come on, it's 80's rock. Duh.
---<Tabi>---------------
When Sebastian mentions the turnout for the night, Tabi smiles brightly. "It sure is! This is awesome, *especially* for a Monday-friggin-night!", she says... and apparently, not every guy in the place is being intimidated away by her clothing, after all!
---<Calvin>---------------
"Fair enough. I've heard it said 'bad money drives out good'...I hope that safer drugs drive out dangerous ones, then," Calvin says to Geffen, as the pair are walking towards the bar. And as he gets closer, he blinks, and does a double-take, before waving back to Talia. "Hello! Didn't think you were coming tonight."
---<Sebastian>---------------
Sebastian mirrors Tabi's enthusiasm, grinning enthusiastically. "For real! I mean, really though, any reason to make a Monday better, if you ask me." He lifts his little plastic bottle of water in a silent toast before taking another small sip. "Which are your jams? I'm a 90's guy. All of them are sweet though!"
---<Talia>---------------
Talia starts to make her way toward the bar as well, looking over to Calvin and giving him a smile. "Oh, I didn't really think that I would either, but everything is taken care of in the kitchen and I even had time to shower and so here I am." She says in his direction. Because Geffen is nearby, the man gets a smile of greeting as well.
---<Elizabeth>---------------
Elizabeth releases her hold of Alejandro's arm now that the two have reached Tabi and Sebastian are at the bar, and Lunette has reached 'her'. She stands motionless as Lunette embraces her from behind, "Hello, Lulu. Did you come to check up on me?" Her Boston accent comes out strong on the word 'up'. A glance is cast over her shoulder at Lunette before Elizabeth refocuses her gaze on Tabi.
---<Geffen>---------------
"I've learned which battles to fight, and which are best for bigger hearts," Geffen admits to Calvin, then steps aside as the preacher notices a few other people. He seems content to not be the big socialite, and once they reach the bar, he leans in for an order. "Yeah. Uh... Roy Rogers for this guy ('whatever the hell that is,' he mutters), Champagne for the lady who will join us in a moment, and a Mezcal on the rocks for me."
---<Tabi>---------------
Tabi smiles, still, as Elizabeth and Alejandro approach, too. "We've met before, once or twice, I think", she replies to the woman's words. It's nice to see you again, too. Would either of you like a drink?", she asks, gesturing generally behind herself to the bar. Turning to Sebastian, she replies. "I like all the music they play here. S'why I hang out here all the time!"
---<Ophelia>---------------
Ophelia invisibly eyes Crow with pure black eyes, then they, in turn, move to Geffen, and then to Caspian. Before she speaks to the one person guaranteed to hear her. "Jesus, am I going to see the fight of the century? How do you even do that? Alright, keep your secrets, I am going to see if I can't make the radio play something actually good."
---<Lunette>---------------
"Mmmhmm.." comes the soft agreement from Lunette as she remains standing behind Liz, her arms warmly about the woman and only releasing her once, and with one arm, so she can lift her hand and brush back a lock of hair near the woman's ear. She leans in closer and murmurs something to her, and then it's back to hugging her gently about the middle as she listens to the chat. Maybe... Well, it's quite possible she's only focusing on Liz.
---<Caspian>---------------
"As I said, I beg your pardon," Caspian says again, perhaps with a bit more weight. "I see I've misjudged the social expectations of this situation. Of course, whatever you'd like is on my tab, please, at your leisure." He gestures toward the bartender but remains quiet, eyebrows slightly raised, at the discussion of Addison's propensity for taking on debt and his knowledge of the city's denizens and occupants.
---<Theo>---------------
Lingering for just a bit longer, but Theo gives a slight bow to Tabi. He doesn't interrupt. Hell, she might not even notice him. James, his driver, meets the man as he is headed for the exit. Pausing though, nearing the egress, Theodore casts his glance toward the bar briefly as if he saw something. Shaking his head, the man continues out into the night.
---<Calvin>---------------
Calvin smiles and waves Talia over. "Geffen, this is Talia. She's also at Protectress Ministries, helping out there and one of our fundraisers. Also, my fiance. Talia? This is Geffen. He runs a med clinic in Skid Row that I sometimes go to assist the patients with spiritual concerns."
---<Rachel>---------------
It's probably an understatement to say Rachel isn't dressed for clubbing, but maybe she's just far enough out of style to be retro. Well, probably not. Wearing t-shirts much too large for you is rarely in style at all, even if the 'Lao Che Air Freight' graphic does have a certain retro 1980s vibe to it. Olive-drab cargos definitely aren't. The chunky engineer boots, maybe. When she comes in she's ... well, more than slightly taken aback by all the goings-on, even if she really shouldn't be on tonight of all nights. It takes her several long seconds of soaking everything in before she decides to make it along the left side of the place toward the bar rather than dare to venture out into the wilds of the dance floor.
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro continues to engage Elizabeth in conversation while simultaneously scanning the room now and then. There is something of the anxious man to him, he watches the room, as though in search of threats or enemies.
---<Sebastian>---------------
Sebastian smiles as a couple of familiar faces arrive. He inclines his chin, smile not wavering, at both Elizabeth and Lunette. The cling of Lunette on Elizabeth gets a flicker of brightness in his smile, but he doesn't say anything for the moment. Alejandro gets a cursory once over and then he answers Tabi with, "I hung at a club that played this sort of music back in Sacramento. It's the best, for my two cents."
---<Geffen>---------------
Geffen turns from the bar to meet Talia and hands her a glass of champagne. Fresh off the presses. His other hand has another Roy Rogers for Calvin. "For the lady. And, cola and grenadine, and a sugar-injected fake cherry. Please don't have a diabetic attack." He grins and turns to grab his own drink, before addressing Talia. "Doctor James Geffen. Pleased to meet you. I hear your people do good work at the Ministry."
---<Crow>---------------
Crow shakes her head. "Water under the bridge," she orders a drink of her own, nodding in Caspian's direction. "And whatever he's having next is on me." she turns back to the man. "Sit and drink with us a bit, and it'll be as it never happened." she chuckles. Turnabout is fair play. "I hope you'll pardon a girl getting her feathers ruffled." she quirks a wry smile. "Not used to having my conversation partners stolen without a by your leave." she chuckles. <English>
---<Talia>---------------
Talia comes to stand close to Calvin. She looks over to Geffen as they are introduced, having a gentle smile for him that reaches her blue eyes. "Oh, wonderful to meet you. I have never been to the clinic, but I hear very good things." She says softly. She then oohs softly at the drink choice. "It sounds good, I do like sugar." She admits, adding a moment later. "We try, little by little, day by day, moment by moment. We can never do enough, but we do what can do."
---<Geffen>---------------
"Can never do enough. I concur, Ma'am." Doctor Geffen raises his drink in a toast to them both.
---<Elizabeth>---------------
Elizabeth offers Tabi a small shake of her head before she twitches slightly within Lunette's grasp-from-behind. "No. I am simply -stuffed- from earlier. I was just on my way out but wanted to say... hello. Nice club." The waif bows her head to Alejandro before she disengages from Lunette's grasp. "I'm going." She tells the woman. "But stay. Have fun. That rock and roller left you a party gift when you come back to Hancock Park." Elizabeth offers Sebastian a quick glance before she nods again to Tabi and Alejandro, then she turns and starts to make her way through the crowd toward the door.
---<Addison>---------------
"You say that like you don't have all the time the world, Crow," Addison says with a grin, looking over one shoulder to her before turning his back both her and Caspian for the moment. He turns around to watch as Dr. Geffen, Father Hobbes, and Talia as they finally reach the bar stepping out of the crowd of people. His brow lifts when Calvin mentions his engagement and that lifted brow is followed by a lifted glass. "Conflagrations," he adds his congratulates the Priest.
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro profers a deep nod of the head to Elizabeth "I will see you soon no doubt, take care out there Elizabeth."
---<Talia>---------------
Talia has the champagne not the sugar drink and she toasts with that. Maybe she will sneak a sip of Calvin's later. she then looks to Addison at his words of congrats smiling at him as well although Talia doesn't seem to know Addison.
---<Spade>---------------
Having found or not found what he was here for, the cholo malingering in the corner pushes off the wall and retreads his steps, heading along with the booths back towards the entrance, sliding around the crowd, easily making way through groups as soon as his approach is noticed. Never let it be said a low-level intimidating aura can't be useful, some of the time.
---<Tabi>---------------
"I've never actually been to Sacramento... maybe someday", Tabi says, in reply to Sebastian's words, taking a moment to also sip from her drink. "What was that club's name?", she then questions, wondering aloud. Turning her attention back to Elizabeth, she smiles. "I'm really glad you stopped by, just the same... thank you so much!", she says to the woman, before turning her attention back to Sebastian.
---<Calvin>---------------
Calvin has his second Roy Rogers of the evening and smiles lifting his glass along with Geffen and Talia. "Thank you," he says. "And we'll always strive to do what we can." And then he hears Addison's voice and turns to him, giving a crooked smile. "Good evening. You were engrossed in conversation earlier, and I hate interrupting," he says. "And thank you. I count myself incredibly fortunate. Talia? This is Addison, who is...everywhere in Skid Row from what I understand. Addison, Talia."
---<Lunette>---------------
Lunette slowly pulls back from Elizabeth to let her move as she pleases, and she turns her face to watch after the woman, again watching her with that stare. Her hands shift to rest at her sides as her lips rub together softly, and she watches after her until the woman is lost in the crowd. Only then does she look away and begin to wander the club once again.
---<Rachel>---------------
/Lots/ of people. Rachel's sort of wide-eyed by the time she succeeds in threading her way through the crowd to the bar, and she only gets more so watching some of the people there: a lot of eye-catching folks, after all. She lingers a little bit away from the bar proper until a space opens out; luckily it doesn't take too long.
---<Caspian>---------------
"Did I steal him?" Caspian wonders. To Addison: "Did I steal you? He's a bit large to just be carried off. At least for me, anyway, I imagine it'd be more of an awkward stumbling and falling situation. Do you live in this neighborhood, Ms... Crow, you said?" He offers a nod and grin of recognition to Rachel. "Miss Lopez-Faraday, hello. It's nice to see you again. Can I get you a drink?" Something is quietly amusing him, but it's something of the sort that wouldn't make sense without a long explanation and probably would only be funny to him. It flares slightly anytime Addison is introduced to anyone new, however, the shadow of a dimple in one of Caspian's cheeks, or the arch of an eyebrow.
---<Talia>---------------
Talia looks to Calvin as the priest speaks, nodding as she explains who Addison is and giving the man a thoughtful look followed by another smile. "Then very good to meet you as well." I don't go into deeper into that than the ministry, because well I have been advised not to." She admits. "But still I hope that my cooking for the Ministry and fundraising for them will be helpful." She then turns her attention to Rachel, waving to the redhead who she seems to know at least a little bit.
---<Crow>---------------
Crow chuckles, raising her own glass in Addison's direction in a silent salute. "Mmm. But you've been in the city for such a short time in comparison, and yet it feels like you know so many more." there is a smile in her voice, as well as on her features. "I suppose it all depends on where one's attention falls. My own tends to stray to other areas she shakes her head. "And I tend to stay fairly reclusive outside of certain things." To Caspian, she nods. "Mmm. Nickname. But I prefer to go by it. Sadhbh Curoa is the name on my documents, but Crow is easier." she shrugs. "It stuck, and it's easy to remember." she chuckles. <English>
---<Sebastian>---------------
Sebastian says, "The Badlands," easily enough in response to the question of club names. He grins and leans in a little to confide, "Most anywhere is better than there though. It's not the best for being a capital city and all." He wrinkles his nose and shrugs, before laughing warmly. "It's home though, ya know?" He shrugs again, eyes flitting to Elizabeth and her companions as the Chancellor makes her exit. His eyes flit up to the lights as he hears Destiny's Child come on and he shakes his head. "Ok. Gotta go dance some more. Would you care to dance?" he asks, glancing between the three, inviting any that care to head to the dance floor.
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro looks at the priest with a measure of distaste before allowing his gaze to look out over the crowd, ever the watcher and unable to take the night off.
---<Antonio>---------------
When the door opens next, something that resembles a cowboy (okay let's be honest more like a tourist playing at being one) enters the club. From under the brim of his hat, Antonio scans the room, his smile already spreading wide. "Nice tunes." mutters the man as he slips inside, watching some of the people dancing with some interest. It almost appears as if he might join in, but decides instead to wander the place.
---<Tabi>---------------
"Dance? Sure!", Tabi chirps, happily, almost bouncing up and down on her toes when Sebastian asks. She quickly upends her glass, to empty the last of her drink into her mouth and sets the glass on the bar... and reaches out to snatch at Lunette's arm, perhaps trying to stop the woman from wandering off to 'be alone just because Elizabeth left -- her intent: drag Lunette out onto the dancefloor with herself and Sebastian. To Alejandro, she says, "If you wish to try the special stock, just ask for it at the bar. I'd welcome your opinion on it", before reaching her free hand, the one not used to try and prevent Lunette's retreat, out to hold onto Sebastian's arm.
---<Rachel>---------------
Rachel directs a small, though pleasant, smile at Caspian: "Dr. Coventry. I wasn't sure you'd remember me. Is the research going well, I hope? And, um – just something with bubbles and a complete lack of alcohol, if you're sure it's no trouble?" She does catch sight of Talia, as well, and raises a hand to wave a return hello.
---<Ophelia>---------------
Ophelia, ghostly as she is, has wandered off to stare at the stereo system. Because well, that is what one does apparently when dead.
---<Addison>---------------
His lips are forming a reply to Crow. He lifts a finger but doesn't end up forming a reply. Instead, he just shrugs helplessly to her assertions. Addison greets Talia with a quick grin. "Hi. I'm off of work at the moment, but I'll have to remember to come by some time and eat all the food. The food that you have cooked. Congratulations on the proposal. Are Priest weddings any different than the usual types?" He lifts his glass to his lips and takes a drink. "The food that you cooked which I am sure is delicious." He tilts his head back to Caspian. "It wouldn't be the first hostage situation I've been in," he replies before his head tilts between Caspian and Rachel. It was his turn for a twitch across his brow. Though it doesn't last long. "I couldn't help but overhear," Addison mentions as he looks to Geffen. "You're working on more sophisticated testing kits? It all just comes full circle doesn't it?"
---<Lunette>---------------
Lunette is already starting to scowl as she begins to wander from the bar, but the sudden touch has her pausing, both in attitude and with her steps. She stops and looks back to see who has grabbed her, and when she sees it's Tabi she can't help but smirk in an amused way. Her gaze drifts to Sebastian and back, and she murmurs, "I usually need a few drinks in me for.." going out there, which is where she looks; over to those who dance nearby. Still, Lu isn't going to ask for a drink. Instead, she waits for Tabi, and once close enough she leans over to murmur something in the woman's ear.
---<Talia>---------------
Talia has her champagne and she takes a sip of such and then another sip. The glass is still over half full suggesting she is not the biggest drink ever. Despite that, she does try to give Calvin's drink a test as if thinking it might be interested. She then looks over to Addison, having a happy smile at his words. "Oh, I do hope you come by sometime." She politely in his direction. "I think it is a bit like normal weddings? We haven't worked out the details out and all that yet." She then admits. "But we will probably have it our church."
---<Caspian>---------------
Caspian's smile for Rachel reappears and widens a bit. "Of course," he says."No trouble at all. The research has been going just fine, thank you. I've wrapped up what I was working on when you and I met before and moved on to entirely different things at this point. And you? Your studies are going well, I take it? Any interesting projects lately? Do you know these two?" He gestures to Addison and Crow. He's understanding of the burden of long names, nodding to Crow. "I should be grateful that my only difficulty is the code-switching between Dr. Coventry and my first name - which you're welcome to call me, Miss Lopez-Faraday, it's Caspian, I simply default to being perhaps overly formal when I'm in more academic settings. Unlike what I told my friend here -" Addison, that is - "I do not /actually/ have argyle suiting tattooed underneath my clothing." He's actually just wearing black jeans and a t-shirt tonight. Shocking.
---<Antonio>---------------
Not shy at all, Antonio meanders the club, greeting the people he passes with a friendly enough smile; some even a tip of his hat. "Some shindig, huh?" he mutters in passing as he wanders by Calvin and gives him a once over. "Fancy seeing you here, padre. Been a while," he remarks with a broad grin. "How ya been?"
---<Calvin>---------------
"True. I suppose I /technically/ could marry us, but I'd rather have someone else do it," Calvin says with a smile. "It is one of the parts of being a priest I enjoy the most, uniting a couple in marriage." He squeezes Talia's hand and yawns a bit. As Antonio comes to be, he gives a nod. "Things have been very busy since we last saw each other. I hope you're doing well? I was about to head home for the evening."
---<Crow>---------------
Crow regards Rachel for a moment, head tilting to one side as she thinks. "Nooooo... No. I don't *believe* we've met before." she smiles, embarrassedly. "Or if we have, I am afraid to say that the event in question eludes me at the moment." she smiles, offering a small curtsey to the Other Woman. "As I was just saying to Dr. Coventry. Sadhbh Curoa. But I prefer Crow. Charmed to make your acquaintance." <English>
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro tilts his head at the menu and finally relents, ordering a pint of the house special beer which he begins nursing slowly. "Crows are among the smartest of the corvids," he says with a raise of the glass, it's a little robotic, a little forced, but he is clearly not a social creature.
---<Talia>---------------
Talia gives Calvin's hand a squeeze in return, the girl lingering near Calvin. She listens to his words about their marriage, having a gentle smile that touches her blue eyes. She then looks over to Antonio as he his greeting, giving the man one of her smiles although she doesn't seem to know him.
---<Addison>---------------
"Have James marry you," Addison says to Calvin and Talia with a chuckle. "It'd be a real party." Then he'd turn around, as if on Caspian's cue, and look right at Rachel. His lips peel back to reveal ivory whites running along the edge of his sickle grin. "Hello."
---<Antonio>---------------
"Already?" he questions with a lift of brows at Calvin. "A shame. I thought we could talk." claims the cowboy with a tilt of his head at the other man. "I am a fan of the bible," Antonio states, reaching out to attempt patting Calvin is on the back. "Did I overhear you are getting married? Is that even allowed in the Catholic Church?"
---<Geffen>---------------
Geffen chuckles. "I mean, I -could- get a card and do it." He smiles. "The speech would be fun. That's for sure."
---<Crow>---------------
Crow is a little taken aback at the sudden entrance, but the rally's well. "Nothing quite on a Raven, but they are ingenious little creatures." she chuckles. She inclines her head to the man. "I don't believe we've had the chance to meet before, Mr...?" <English>
---<Rachel>---------------
"The Sea Peoples, wasn't it?" Rachel says to Caspian, in a way that indicates she remembers exactly what his research was about and is offering an opportunity to talk about it. If he wants to! "For me, winter break just finished, so it's been slow --" Here she stops in midsentence, and there's a moment's pause before she can continue: "I, ah, I actually do know Mr. Jacobs." A small smile and a polite nod to Addison. "But ahm, no, I don't think we've met, Ms. Curoa. I'm sure I'd remember." Pleasant! Smiling! Friendly!
---<Caspian>---------------
"Mr. Jacobs," Caspian says, meaningfully, looking at Addison over the rims of his glasses. "Yes, it was the sea peoples and the Late Bronze Age Collapse. I told Mr. Jacobs here a couple of stories, one about the Nutty Putty Cave in Utah, and one about the psychoactive properties of a bespoke yellow pigment found in the work of a certain Abstract Expressionist painter. Oh and - if you did want to use the library, my offer remains open, do shoot me an email anytime and we can arrange something. The house isn't far from here, actually."
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro nods his head slowly "Lopez, Alejandro. We have not met, no. I have, however, excellent hearing and the names Crow and Sadhbh are both extraordinarily rare in this neck of the wood. My curiosity was perked and I felt eavesdropping, even accidentally, without making it known that I had done so would be unforgivably rude."
---<Sebastian>---------------
Sebastian smiles brightly as his arm is taken and Lunette may be on board. He starts to stride towards the dance floor, eager to get there and get his dance on. The dancers that were waiting for him to return aren't especially pleased that he brought people with him. His hips are swaying and his arms lifting with joyous motion as he joins the crowd on the dance floor in singing about standing up for love. He turns his back on the people waiting and instead turns to make some room for Lunette and Tabi, should they join him.
---<Calvin>---------------
"We'll see," Calvin says to Addison, with a smile. "But for now..." And then he looks at Antonio. "And no, it is not allowed in either Catholic or Orthodox. Which is why it is a good thing I am neither, but Episcopal--the American branch of the Anglican Communion." He gives a nod. "I would love to talk more sometime, though...come to St. John's someday?" ANd with a smile, he starts to make his way towards the entrance.
---<Ophelia>---------------
Ophelia is still here mind you, just not seen. Back to standing invisibly on the bar. Watching, eyeing. "You know, every time I see you like six people get into a fight over who is taking you home, and meanwhile I can't even get a date."
---<Talia>---------------
Talia smiles over to Geffen at his words. "Well maybe, we need someone to marry us after all." She says. She then tags along with Calvin, seemingly planning to leave with him.
---<Tabi>---------------
To Lunette, as she tries to pull the woman along to the dance floor, Tabi says, "C'mon, Looney! Dance! We can get drinks together after?" She does, indeed, join Sebastian out on the dance floor... moving with the music easily and well, lifting her arms as she dances.
---<Antonio>---------------
"Sure thing..." Antonio agrees while Calvin is walking out of the club. Likely he didn't even hear. Not really seeming to care, though, the cowboy turns his attention on the dance floor once again, observing the people shaking their money makers or whatever it is kids do these days. Tony watches, eyes running over the crowd now and then.
---<Lunette>---------------
Lunette just smirks at Tabi, and she breathes a little sigh as she says, "Finnneee.." and follows her and Sebastian along out onto the dance floor, eyeing anyone who stands too close to her.. but hey. That's what drinks are supposed to help with! Still, she moves onto the dance floor and stays near Tabi as she begins to dance, moving her form to the beat of the music.
---<Addison>---------------
Addison takes his eyes off of Rachel as Alejandro comes up to the crowd. There's a moment of recognition across Addison's face before he tracks up to Caspian again. "Well, as long as everyone is meeting everyone else," Adi says, jerking his thumb over his shoulder towards Caspian and Crow each in turn. "James, have you met these two here?" He glances after Calvin and Talia as they leave. "/That's/ going to be a fun reception dinner." A pause. "I should tell him I'm Jewish the next time I see him."
---<Crow>---------------
Crow is eyeing Alejandro, nodding slowly. "I.... see." she shakes her head, expression brightening. "Well. I appreciate the Candour, certainly, and I'll hold no particular ill will over it." she shakes her head. "And no. They aren't. I was born in Ireland. Where... well. It's not common. But a sight more so than here." she tilts her head in curiosity. "Are you a native yourself, Mr. Lopez? Or do you prefer some other mode of address?" <English>
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro shakes his head as the priest leaves, clearly wondering what a man of the cloth was doing here at all. "I was born in New York, to Spanish parents, so I am a first-generation American. As much Spanish as I am American in my identity. I believe I have a Spanish Passport somewhere, but my responsibilities do not permit me to travel." He nods to Addison, "Good to see you again Professor."
---<Rachel>---------------
Friendly though she might have been to Talia, Rachel has steadfastly avoided looking at Calvin, at least until he's on his way out of the club, which apparently lifts the ban. The look she sends after him is not particularly warm, and it distracts her a little before she remembers: "Oh! Yes, I'm sorry, Dr. Coventry, I'd actually like that very much. It's -- well, the time has been short lately." She gives a curious look to Alejandro, and even a smile when she hears him discuss his heritage.
---<Sebastian>---------------
Sebastian is overjoyed when both women join him. He doesn't dance too close or familiarly as they just met, but close enough to keep some of the mortal tides at bay. After the third time he pushes up his glasses, he takes them off and tucks them into his pocket, out of the way. He's a little shocked at just how good Tabi is, laughing as he tries his level best not to make her look bad with his decidedly (comparatively) mediocre moves. Extra points for being joyful about it, maybe?
---<Tabi>---------------
Tabi's clearly happy that Lunette's chosen to let herself get dragged out onto the dance floor, pairing the two women up to dance with Sebastian. For her part, Tabi's quite a good dancer, as it turns out -- just having fun with the dancing, and clearly wanting the others with whom she dances to also have fun. She doesn't seem to care how good or bad anyone else is at it, just having fun and trying to help others do the same.
---<Crow>---------------
Crow nods with a hum. "Aye. I traveled a bit when I was younger, but the last number of years have seen me tied to L.A.." she shakes her head "A shame." she chuckles. "Not that it isn't a Wonderful city, of course." her gaze tracks between the two and she laughs lightly to herself. "I suppose I shouldn't be surprised you and Addison know each other, and me just after poking fun at him for knowing everyone." <English>
---<Antonio>---------------
Antonio shows amusement while watching the dancers getting down. Moving through the club as he observes them, it does take him around near to the spot Alejandro is chilling, talking to people. His gaze slides over Crow and Addison before returning to Alejandro to study him for a time in silence.
---<Lunette>---------------
Lunette may be a bit of a sourpuss, but she can't help the grin that shows upon her red lips as she watches the way Tabi dances.. especially in that dress. Oy. Lu forces her gaze to lift again as she gives a soft laugh at herself, and with a light shake of her head she turns, hips swaying to the beat as she looks over to Sebastian. "Didn't take you to be one for dancing, Mr. Barlowe. I'm surprised." She grins a touch, still moving to the beat, but not as energetically as she would had she some alcohol in her!
---<Caspian>---------------
Caspian gives a minute shake of his head, finishing his drink and setting the empty glass down on the bar. "Not at all," he says. "Anytime, as I said, feel free to come by. If you'll excuse me, as a matter of fact, I think it's about time I should be headed back that way myself. Ms. Crow, it was lovely to meet you."
---<Crow>---------------
Crow nods "Likewise, Dr. Coventry. I look forward to our next meeting."
---<Addison>---------------
Addison lifts his glass to Alejandro from his place at the bar where he was standing and somewhat squished between a seated Crow and a standing Dr. Coventry. "Hello again," he grins politely towards Lopez. "Did you ever make it over to the Mesoamerican exhibition over at LACMA? Those friezes of Tlaloc the Storm God and Chinchorro Mummies aren't going to be visiting Los Angeles forever, you know." He'd pause and tilt his head up at Caspian, who seemed to be on his way out. He leans in to whisper something to Dr. Coventry before pulling away with less polite grin on his face.
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro shakes his head "I wouldn't say we know each other. We met once. I am not exactly a social butterfly. But we discussed Meso American deities, I was doing a research paper at the time, which is now on my back burner. I am currently working instead on a paper about the Voynich Manuscript which may or may not be the workings of a schizophrenic monk or a mad scribe." He shakes his head at Addison "I had a crisis come up, something that kept me at work I'm afraid," he raises his glass in a toast, "But I may head over on one of my exceedingly rare holiday days."
---<Rachel>---------------
"Good night, Dr. Coventry," Rachel says to him, when he makes to depart, "and thank you again. I hope you won't be too dismayed," she adds, with a wry smile, "when I take you up on that."
---<Caspian>---------------
Whatever Addison says makes Caspian laugh, and at the moment he looks a good decade or so younger. He says something quiet in return, shaking his head a little, and then gives a nod to Rachel and heads for the door.
---<Sebastian>---------------
Sebastian laughs and shakes his head. "I can't be a CEO every waking hour, now can I?" he inquires. He laughs, warm and pure, eyes-rolling. "I love to dance. It kept me sane in college. You'd be surprised how rowdy our nerd parties got." He grins big at that, utterly unashamed that he's something of a nerd. He redoubles his efforts when some Paula Abdul starts playing. "God this is a good night," he enthuses, eyes flitting back to Tabi and just enjoying such a talented dance partner.
---<Tabi>---------------
Tabi seems a bit lost in the music as she dances until Lunette speaks to Sebastian, at which point her smile softens a little. Then she arches up an eyebrow. "CEO? What company?", she asks of Sebastian, before she starts singing along with the Paula Abdul song while she dances -- though she's still also, clearly, paying attention for when Sebastian replies to her question.
---<Crow>---------------
Crow sighs. "I'd probably best take my leave as well. The forge won't implode, but I have some work I'd like to see to at some stage tomorrow." she moves to stand, offering a nod to Alejandro, Addison, and the others in the little circle. "I hope you'll pardon my abrupt departure, but it was a pleasure to meet you all." <English>
---<Nicodemus>---------------
Perking up, Nicodemus hears a magic word. He pushes off of the wall he was holding up with his shoulders. Moving towards Sebastian then, he isn't exactly sneaking. But he approaches and says aloud, "Please forgive me. Did you say CEO?" he asks. And he has a metallic blue business card with black text on it. The card is for ROYAL CONSULTING, Nicodemus King... with contact into, "I specialize in corporate finance and revenue ... adjustments and analysis." He offers a grin before adding, "I'd love to talk with you about it sometime."
---<Addison>---------------
Addison watches Caspian take his leave before he looks back to Lopez. He listens to the man talk with a look of genuine intrigue. With a grin lifts his glass to Alejandro in a toast. "Well. Here's to all of Los Angeles's volunteer firefighters." He nods and knocks back the rest of his drink. "I better get out of here myself," he says, "before I get too overstimulated."
---<Antonio>---------------
"Fascinating," says Antonio, either to the comment Alejandro makes about the manuscript or maybe the fact Sebastian is digging Paula Abdul. It's a fair toss-up. Beyond that, he doesn't say anything else for a while, simply keeps his eyes on Alejandro as he discusses the manuscript. Though he does finally speak up when the other man finishes and Tony adds his two cents, "It's easy to label one mad when you don't understand what they see."
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro tilts his head this way and that "It is an academic oddity, people have been trying to decode it since it was first found. Every now and then someone thinks they have found the encryption key, or that it is a dialect of some forgotten language. Personally, I am doing it as an exercise in mental training and abject curiosity. It isn't often we get the opportunity to indulge in idle curiosity for the sake of idle curiosity."
---<Rachel>---------------
"Good night," Rachel wishes the departing persons; she herself has gone quiet again, and is more interested in sitting and listening than adding to the discussion herself, at least for the moment.
---<Lunette>---------------
Lunette gives a bark of a laugh when Sebastian mentions nerd parties, and as she continues to laugh she says, "Oh, please. I've seen plenty. Glad we can openly call you a nerd, now that you've admitted to it." Her grin returns wide, and she starts to dance a bit looser, relaxing touch and feeling the music more. As she moves about to the beat, she looks to Tabi and back to Sebastian, happy to listen.
---<Addison>---------------
Addison steps away from the bar. Just as he's about to brush past Rachel he pauses, stoops, and whispers something towards her ear.
---<Antonio>---------------
Though likely, Alejandro isn't speaking to him, nonetheless, Antonio offers his two cents one more time. "Ever had a madman look at it?" he questions the other man with a curl of his lips into a smirk. Then with one hand, he tips his round brim hat and casually strolls away, making a very unhurried and convoluted path to the exit.
---<Nisha>---------------
Nisha stops on the way down of the steps to the first floor, she didn't get to check on everyone earlier and checked her phone. Heading over quickly to Tabi, "Everything is going great upstairs. Nice little crowd tonight. Just checking on things down here. We good?", stage-whispering to her. Eyes roaming the scene before falling on Lunette and heading straight for her. "Zomg, look at your dress. Where'd you buy it? I got to know?", looking the woman over.
---<Sebastian>---------------
There's a loud bark of laughter when Sebastian hears that he's branded a nerd for all time now. He descends into snickers and nods. "So it is written, so it is done," he intones with due solemnity. "I mean, I own a biotech company, so there's really no arguing my nerdiness," he says agreeably while he keeps busting some moves in glorious 90s fashion. He dances a little closer to both Lunette and Tabi, just so he doesn't have to shout so loud. He offers a smile and nods to Nisha as she joins them.
---<Rachel>---------------
Whatever it is that's said to her takes Rachel a bit by surprise, but she nods to Addison in reply, complete with a small, compressed smile. Other than that she doesn't make any immediate move, content to remain where she is and watch and listen to people around her.
---<Alejandro>---------------
Alejandro had been responding to Antonio but in the hubbub of the club, it isn't surprising it got lost. "Lunatics sometimes offer keen insights, or so they say but the copy that I have is an antique in its own right and I can't readily share it, I would hate to see the cost for ruining it. The bill always comes due."
---<Tabi>---------------
Tabi keeps dancing, nodding her head at what Sebastian says. When Nisha joins them, and Lunette too, as it turns out, on the dancefloor, she gives Nisha a thumbs-up and... just keeps dancing, clearly enjoying herself. She sings along with 'Safety Dance', the club's current song, too.
---<Addison>---------------
Addison steps away from Rachel and straightens his posture. He looks to the left and right as if he's checking for traffic before stepping down into the dance floor again and moving through it until he reaches the exit. Once outside he'd disappear off into the night.
---<Lunette>---------------
Lunette is moving in time with the music, dancing close to Tabi and The Nerd, and as she hears Nisha's voice she turns toward her and grins. "This little boutique in Weho.. I'll text you the name when I remember it... Having fun?" she asks, much more relaxed now, no longer scowling at the world. She grins a little to Tabi and Sebastian, then says to the man, "Yep. Grade A nerd right there. Of course, you do."
---<Sebastian>---------------
Sebastian blushes faintly at being now known as The Nerd. He laughs good-naturedly as Safety Dance plays loudly. Once the song ends, he says to the women, "I'm going to get another water. Thanks." He gives a sincere smile and starts to try to extricate himself from the mass of humanity still dancing on the dance floor. There is no way his water is still at the bar, so he orders another, although a bulk of it ends up splashed on his face.
---<Nisha>---------------
Nisha joins Tabi, Lunette, and Sebastian on the dance floor - keeping everything professional but totally having a good time and surprisingly being a capable dancer. Perhaps unwinding a little bit, after talking to her boss and getting an update. "Hey, Mr. Barlowe. Nice to see you again.", she states before turning back to Lunette. "Ok, I'd love their number. That dress is too much fun.", only sticking around for a dance or two.
---<Tabi>---------------
Tabi waves one hand at Sebastian as he leaves the dancing, and just keeps dancing along with Lunette and Nisha for the next song, before finally saying, "Did you want to get something to drink, now?", mostly to Lunette but also including Nisha in the question. She still dances as she asks the question, but also starts to make her way off the dancefloor and towards the bar after speaking.
---<Lunette>---------------
Lunette nods to Sebastian when he heads off to take a break, and later when Tabi asks about drinks, she says, "Okay.. but just -one-." She grins a little at that and gives a soft laugh, and she nods to Nisha to ask her along with them, too, as she heads off the dance floor and back to the bar. Time for refreshments.
---<Sebastian>---------------
"Nice to see you too, Miss Yoon," Sebastian offers the woman on his way off the dancefloor. He has a second bottle of water by the time Lunette, Tabi, and Nisha makes their way to the bar. He's propped against the bar, going through the motions of fanning himself as he watches the dwindling crowd keep trying to ignore the fact that tomorrow is a workday and Pi Day isn't a federal holiday and they didn't have today off either. He gives a bit of a wistful sigh as he watches them.
---<Nisha>---------------
Nisha follows the group back up to the bar, shaking her head. "No thanks, I've already had 1 and 1/2 beers, with the rest of one waiting upstairs for me. I'm doing good.", leaning into Lunette more than the countertop available to her. "Probably head back upstairs in a minute or two. Just wanted to check on things.", covering her mouth when she talked, because she had to yawn - and it was polite to cover your mouth when yawning.
---<Tabi>---------------
Once at the bar, Tabi gets a bartender's attention and calls out, "Cuba Libre for me... and whatever they want, if they want something", indicating Nisha and Lunette... and then points at Sebastian. "...and one of whatever he wants, too", she adds, when she sees him at the bar, as well. She's got a little sheen of sweat on her skin, too, from the dancing, and leans back against the bar as if to catch her breath. "Looks all good down here, Nisha", she then says, quietly, to Nisha, as she leans over to speak to the woman.
---<Lunette>---------------
Lunette grins slightly when Nisha leans into her, and she leans in just a bit closer to the woman, murmuring in a teasing tone, "Mm, not going to dance upon the bar here?" Her grin widens, and then she's looking to Tabi when drinks are ordered. Just -one- tonight! Should be plenty.
---<Ophelia>---------------
Ophelia is still here mind you... haunting... haunting you all.
---<Sebastian>---------------
Sebastian is about to order something other than water, but his phone chirps at him. He tries to ignore it, but it chirps again, like it -knows-. He sighs and then groans as he pulls it out, along with his glasses. He slides the glasses on and stares at the phone screen for a moment. He fires off a text and the smiles he's been wearing all night disappear. He stands a little straighter as a response seems to come in. He lifts his water bottle and waves at Lunette, Nisha, and Tabi, gesturing for some goodbyes before he leaves to tend whatever spoiled his fun for the evening.
