Early Life
Much of Corey Fischer's early life -- those first few days and weeks -- are unknown to her. Her story doesn't really begin, at least as far as she's concerned, until she arrived at the doorstep of Charles and Lisa Fischer when she was a baby. The family had no idea who she was, or where she'd come from. To them, little Corey Fischer was a blessing from God.
It was a blessing that would prove to be trying. The little girl that arrived on their doorstep would, despite the relatively polite, Northern Minnesota midwest upbringing, turn out to be quite the handful. Emotional. Aggressive. Predisposed to taking her clothes off and disappearing into the woods. It was was shortly after the beginning of First Grade, when Corey was pulled out of the public school system for biting (that bitch) Mackenzie Leeder on her shin hard enough to draw blood. Corey will tell you she deserved it.
What Corey ultimately needed was purpose. A task to accomplish. And her mother and father soon learned that one of Corey's favorite things to do, was to run. To jump. To play. And... goodness... was she ever fast. And while it felt impossible to tire her out entirely, they found that the best way to keep her happy was to keep her active. A deal was made with the public school system to allow Corey to participate in their athletics. Sprinting. Hurdles. Track and field. And for a very long time, they were happy.
"Tater-Tot"
Corey's first change happened as it often does, in Garou Nation. It happened violently, suddenly, and unexpectedly. It was a night like any other, though one with an admittedly extra spike of tension. Her father was yelling at her for something that she'd done, and Corey was upset. Raised voices turned to tears. Tears turned to shouting. Shouting turned to snarling. And then she felt it. A heat in the back of her head, crawling towards the front. Clawing. Gnashing teeth. Corey didn't know what was happening, but she knew it was going to be explosive. Deadly.
Without warning, she sprinted for the door and out into the freezing cold Minnesota wilderness. Behind her, her father's shouting turned from furious, to pleading, to terrified, as he watched his daughter disappear into the dark. Corey did what she did best. She ran. She ran as far and as fast as she could, until all of that anger, and that hatred, exploded out of her. Her bones broke. Her flesh rended. She took the shape of Crinos for the first time in a whirlwind of blood and snow. Corey doesn't talk much about what happened that night, but it wouldn't be for several hours that her father found her naked, standing in the snow. He carried her home in his arms. Life wouldn't eve really be the same, after that night. Garou from the Powder-Horn Sept would find her soon after, and do their best to teach her about the Garou, and she'd do her best to teach them about casseroles, which would earn her the cub name "Tater-Tot" that would stick for the next several years.
Corey's rather unusual upbringing demanded an unusual lifestyle. Garou Nation recognized the potential turmoil that her disappearance might cause. It was wise, not to draw attention to her, and she would continue her schooling and athletics until she landed a scholarship at USC, near the Sept of the Smiling Angel.
"Blood-Stains-the-Snow"
"Twice-Orphaned"
Corey's introduction to the Sept of the Smiling Angel was a tenuous one. The Urrah of Los Angeles are a different breed than the rural, Midwestern Garou she grew up with. Los Angeles' wolves are simultaneously more strict, and less strict, and it proved to be a somewhat difficult integration for the Child of Gaia. Still, like always, athletics and academics kept her busy. It wasn't until she met Kaia and Felicity, that Corey would feel truly welcome in Los Angeles.
In November of 2021, news would reach Corey about the untimely passing of Lisa and Charles Fischer. The couple was outside, returning from the grocery store, when a pack of aggressive wolves attacked and killed them. Their bodies were discovered, mangled and defiled, not twenty feet from their front door... in blood-stained-snow. And while a hunt began for the wolves that did this, Corey, and the other wolves of the Powder-Horn Sept, knew better. Whatever forces conspired to have Corey stolen away from wherever she was born, had done to keep her hidden, and safe. But she'd been found, and for the second time in her life, Corey Fischer was orphaned.
