Eyes Open

Synopsis: In the same vein as shows like Fringe, Lost, Millenium, Helix, and The X-Files. Doctor Burrows is invited (recruited) to join a clandestine organization that is allegedly funded by the United Nations. This group investigates strange mysteries that rest at the crossroads between super science and ancient mythology and philosophy. These incidents might be part of something bigger, something Kana's new colleagues quietly refer to as The Atlantean Paradox.

Filmography

Season One: An Introduction to Tumultuous Times

Ep. 1: Dreams of a Dark and Terrible Design

Dr. Kana Burrows is a Cultural Anthropologist specializing in the global continuity of certain mythos and folklore. When a pattern of disasters, ones technologically based and yet seemingly supernatural and closely tied to ancient prophecy begin to occur, Dr. Burrows is recruited by a UN investigative team to help them try to predict the next disaster.

As Kana meets the team and learns the depth of the danger, she comes to learn a name for the prophecy, the disasters, and perhaps the enemy itself: The Atlantean Paradox.

Ep. 2: Cognitive Dissonance

Kana comes face to face with the horror of impossibilities happening before her very eyes. As the people of a small town on the coast of Greece are found slowly turning to stone, Kana has to get over her own disbelief and fear, and work with the team to reach beyond procedure, beyond expectation, and embrace some new concepts within scientific thought to save lives. A path that may allow them to save the world itself down the road.

Ep. 3: The Collective Consciousness Selects An Adept

Myth and Legend, Science and Philosophy all begin to stir together as Kana Burrows begins to discover the truth about a great many things. She has been selected, not just by the U.N., but by other parties interested in the Atlantean Paradox. Are worlds beginning to collide? As Kana's eyes begin to open to a larger universe, her place within it becomes a paradox all its own. How does a dust mote become a linchpin?

Ep. 4: Once Upon A Time In Atlantis

Dr. Kana Burrows finds herself in a place, or maybe a time, or perhaps another universe, that is not supposed to exist. Yet, she is sure that she has been here before. The city of Atlantis, where the people refer to her as Ka'Ena, receives Kana at an important time in its history. It is the end of days for Atlantis, or perhaps it's beginning. What happens here will have an effect on what happens to those who wait for her in her other home, a place called Earth.

Ep. 5: A City Sinks. A People Rise

Ka'Ena is losing herself, her old self at least. Or was it the new self? It's hard to know when the balance of multiple realities rest of the decisions you make in multiple worlds. Each time Kana opens her eyes, she is someplace else. She is someone else. A terrible or wonderous choice is coming. If a mythical city is saved, the world it inhabits might end, but if the city is not saved, the greatest human civilization to ever exist will be doomed. How does one destroy a city, a history, a culture...and yet save its people? Not everyone can always be saved, and not every ending is a happy one. The story of Atlantis is already written, after all.

Ep. 6: The Pattern Repeats

Ka'Ena awakens from a dream to find that she is Dr. Kana Burrows. Linchpin. Chosen. Experiment. Atlantis, or the dream of it, is gone. Now there is another exotic city in the world, her world, that finds itself in a similar situation. Kana and the team will fly there with new insights to see if history will repeat itself, even across multiple realities.

Ep. 7: The Cage Revealed

A terrifying truth. An impossible task. An impending sacrifice. Can Kana make the choice? Does she have the right? Is there any other option?

Ep. 8: Eyes Open

In the season finale, all will be revealed. For good or ill, all eyes will be opened to the truth.

Season Two: Into A Place Where Shadows Have Teeth

Synopsis

Dr. Kana Burrows' eyes have indeed been opened. To what? At least the beginnings of what is truly happening in the world. Her organization might be managed by the United Nations, but that's not where their funding (or their origins) come from. And what exactly do you do with a better understanding of a world's place in the universe when it is wildly different from what you believed? How do you cope? Who do you let into the circle of trust? And how was it that just yesterday you actually thought you could keep anyone safe? Knowledge might be power, but it's also a burden. There's also that little problem that still needs to be solved of The Atlantean Paradox. People are starting to disappear. People are changing sides. New factions are coming to light and the table, and the whole thing might actually be some self-devouring time paradox disguised as Fate.

Ep. 1: So, What Now?

In the aftermath of Season One, the team learns there is a difference between knowing the truth and coming to accept it. The team gets a new member after the loss of Greta Blackwell, and a mysterious signal is received.

Ep. 2: The Rules Have Changed

The team goes into crisis mode when it becomes clear that someone, or something, because some thing is possible now, begins to experiment with bending the laws of physics in small pockets all over the globe. Finding whatever is responsible is nearly impossible, and even they can find the source, can they stop it? Even if they are successful, there's still another question to be answered. Possibly the most important one. Why?

Ep. 3: Into A Kana Darkly

Infected by an unknown virus, Kana begins to become untethered to this reality. As the infection spreads and her body starts to fail, Kana is faced with a kaleidoscope of roads not traveled, her perceptions being flung from one version of her own life to another. Each one becomes less familiar than the last. She will have to face the cost of the choices she made in her own life as well as the darkest places she could wind up if not careful, and that's assuming she lives, of course.

Ep. 4: Time Management

A series of micro nuclear detonations along a fault line threatens to wreak havoc on a tectonic scale. The team only has a small window to stop the bombs from going off. So, it would be helpful if time would stop skipping and stuttering in every direction, or would it?

Ep. 5: Cthulhu, Cindy Lauper, & Other Coverups

Ep. 6: The Price of Knowledge

Ep. 7: Breaking the Chains of Eternity

Ep. 8: Mourning the Lost & Living
