Dramatis Personae
Names that echo through the Sept of the Smiling Angel and the wider Los Angeles Protectorate: allies, adversaries, and figures remembered in the tales of the Garou. These are reputations and commonly repeated accounts, not complete biographies.
An old and formidable Uktena warrior who has assumed leadership of the Sept of the Smiling Angel. Long associated with the defense of the caern and its spiritual traditions, Only-Ghosts is respected for his experience and earned standing rather than political ambition. He is a distant, sometimes weary leader who generally leaves everyday affairs to trusted officers. A compassionate but firm-handed judge and one of the Sept’s most important political figures. Katerina oversees challenges and is known for patience, fairness, and an unwillingness to indulge pointless displays of bravado. Though closely allied with Alexander and his pack, her loyalty to the Sept sometimes places her at odds with his ambitions. The proud and charismatic leader of Falcon’s Talons, Alexander arrived in Los Angeles determined to restore Silver Fang influence over the Sept. A formidable warrior and unapologetic traditionalist, his ambitions sometimes bring him into conflict with the city’s more egalitarian Garou. Few question his prowess, whatever they think of his politics. An enigmatic and notoriously demanding elder, Morena oversees the Sept’s spiritual affairs and the instruction of younger Garou in rites and dealings with spirits. Widely respected for her wisdom, she is not especially patient or approachable. Her answers to spiritual questions can be as unsettling as they are enlightening. A Glass Walker City Farmer and former Keeper of the Land whose work emphasizes urban agriculture and practical restoration of damaged communities. Dante and his pack have left the Outer Bawn to establish a new project on the far northern edge of the Sept’s Protectorate. His work attracts Garou interested in rebuilding rather than merely defending the city. An Uktena Theurge associated with Dante Zimmer’s pack and its efforts to bring green spaces and sustainable communities back to Los Angeles. Ximena combines spiritual concerns with practical restoration work. Her pack is now establishing itself along the far northern reaches of the Protectorate. The aging patriarch of Wu Sun Pacific and one of the most influential Glass Walkers in Los Angeles. Gideon has never belonged to the Sept, and his dealings with it have ranged from wary cooperation to outright hostility. Increasingly reclusive since the presumed death of his son, he retains considerable wealth, influence, and a formidable reputation. A member of Overwatch, the technologically sophisticated Glass Walker pack associated with Caltech in Pasadena. Known for its technical expertise and strict operational security, the pack rarely ventures far from its own territory but maintains ties with the Sept. Kim is among its publicly recognized representatives. A hard-bitten Bone Gnawer warrior associated with the People of Watts, an independent pack deeply rooted in its neighborhood and Kinfolk communities. The pack is known for territorial independence and fierce opposition to Glass Walker interference. Dontrell represents an uncompromising strain of South Los Angeles Garou. A Bone Gnawer Ragabash associated with Compton’s Crew, whose members wage a persistent campaign against Endron Oil and other Wyrm-tainted interests around Carson. The pack maintains its independence from the Sept, but its determination to fight the Wyrm is familiar to Garou who operate in the Southlands. A prominent Wu Sun Kinfolk and former emissary between Gideon Wu and the Sept. Intelligent, capable, and politically connected, Xiu Fang was once a familiar presence in Downtown Glass Walker affairs. Her disappearance remains an unresolved matter. Gideon Wu’s formidable security adviser, Chen is known for his ruthlessness, efficiency, and absolute loyalty to Wu Sun. His reputation extends far beyond ordinary Kinfolk: during one period of conflict between Wu Sun and the Sept, he single-handedly killed a Garou. Even experienced warriors have reason to take him seriously. An elusive and dangerous Black Spiral Dancer whose name has repeatedly surfaced in conflicts with the Sept and its allies. Her pack has suffered severe losses, but Cody herself remains a persistent threat. She is associated with the Black Spiral presence in Inglewood and Temple-Beaudry. A dangerous Black Spiral Dancer whose influence is felt through corporate interests as well as open warfare. Associated with Endron and Pentex, Brigance presents a strangely restrained, sometimes almost sympathetic demeanor. Those who have encountered him know that his apparent civility offers little protection when his interests demand violence. Once an intern associated with Wu Sun, Dustin Nguyen later fell to the Black Spiral Dancers. His name is remembered in connection with the notorious Kinfolk Wall affair and the exposure of information that placed Kinfolk in danger. Though dead, he remains a cautionary example of the damage a compromised insider can inflict. A notorious Namebreaker associated with dark events around Skid Row. Jodi Blake is widely believed to have disappeared, though unsettling rumors and graffiti have periodically suggested otherwise. The name is sometimes mentioned in connection with Hawthorne Mall, a place many supernatural inhabitants of Los Angeles regard with particular dread. A legendary patriarch of the Wise Guys whose pack dominated Los Angeles during much of the early twentieth century. Don Leandro helped shape the city’s old Glass Walker order, an era of formidable influence that ended before the Sept’s darkest struggles. His death in 1965 preceded the collapse of that dominance. A veteran of the old Wise Guys era and one of the last defenders of the Sept of the Setting Sun. Initially reluctant to join Mason King’s coalition, Dutch eventually committed his experience and famous fetish Thompson submachine gun to the war against the Black Spiral Dancers. He later departed Los Angeles. One of the great heroes of modern Los Angeles, Mason King forged the alliance that turned back the Black Spiral Dancers in the 1970s. Remembered as a charismatic idealist and gifted peacemaker, he led the Sept for decades. His name remains synonymous with the city’s last great heroic age. Mason King’s beloved packmate and closest companion during the campaign to reclaim Los Angeles. Andrew helped inspire the coalition that drove the Black Spiral Dancers back into their tunnels. His death was one of the personal tragedies that profoundly affected Mason and the generation that founded the modern Sept. A formidable Black Fury warrior who led a militant pack south from San Francisco to join Mason King’s campaign. Athena became a defining figure of the 1970s struggle and a close ally and rival of Mason. Her death marked the beginning of the long decline of Black Fury influence within the Sept. A legendary and notoriously fierce Bone Gnawer whose influence extended throughout Skid Row and the Southlands. Instrumental in the alliance that saved Los Angeles, Johnny remained a champion of the city’s dispossessed Garou. His assassination weakened an important bond between the Sept, independent Bone Gnawers, and their Ratkin allies. One of the most mysterious and revered spiritual figures in Los Angeles history. Isabel helped restore the city’s Uktena population and played a central role in the modern Sept’s spiritual identity. Famous for uncanny insight and prophetic visions, she disappeared on a spiritual pilgrimage and has never returned. The son of Gideon Wu and once one of the Sept’s most promising warriors. A close friend of former Alpha Liam King, James advocated carrying the war directly into the Black Spiral Dancers’ strongholds. He is believed to have fallen during the disastrous assault beneath Temple-Beaudry in 2016. A prominent Bone Gnawer warrior who challenged and defeated Only-Ghosts-Behind-Him for the position of Warder following the Temple-Beaudry disaster. Ripley became a forceful representative of the city’s increasingly assertive Bone Gnawers during the troubled years leading up to the Siege of Skid Row. A Black Fury warrior who arrived from the Sept of the Western Eye following the disastrous Temple-Beaudry campaign. Basilia claimed the position of Wyrmfoe and served among the Sept’s leading warriors in the years preceding the Siege of Skid Row. Her appointment briefly renewed Black Fury influence in Los Angeles. A legendary Ratkin leader associated with the Ramblers of the Los Angeles Harbor region. Dallas maintained important ties with Johnny Walker and the Bone Gnawers of the Southlands. He is remembered for avenging Johnny’s assassination and sustaining cooperation between Ratkin and Garou through years of increasingly desperate conflict.Sept Leadership
