Morena Moon’s “Pack”
Unique among the Garou of Los Angeles, Morena Moon has forged a personal connection with one of the many totemic avatars (against general advice that such bonds are unwise). While not a proper “pack” by definition, it is included for its noteworthiness, as she is often seen in the company of the sept’s current Gatekeeper. Nominally, they serve as the tribal leaders of the San Gabriel Uktena packs and are the main liaison between them and the Downtown Sept Garou.
Totem: Owl
Territory: Ritemaster’s Alcove, Inner Bawn
Tribe: Uktena
- Morena “Worlds-Within-Her” Moon, Athro Uktena Theurge
- Only-Ghosts-Behind-Him, Athro Uktena Ahroun
Outlying Packs
These packs consist of NPCs who, due to political or logistical reasons, are not involved (to varying extents) with the Sept’s daily affairs. Because of this, detailed knowledge of these packs is limited, and only notable members are listed.
Gideon Wu’s Pack
Very little is known about the enigmatic Glass Walker Elder, and what is known doesn’t extend beyond various rumors spoken of by the members of the Sept. All that is known for certain is that he does have what would be considered a “pack”, though details of its membership and structure are unknown. If the pack, or the Elder, have a Garou name, it is in their native Cantonese and never spoken of to outsiders. A dominant power in Sept politics during the 1990s and 2000s, the Elder grew more reclusive upon the appointment of Liam King as Sept Alpha, and has not been seen on the Bawn since the Summer of 2020; a visit characterized as “rare” even then.
Totem: Digital Eye?
Territory: Bunker Hill, DTLA
Tribe: Glass Walkers (Boli Zousizhe)
- Gideon Wu, Elder Glass Walker Ragabash
- An unknown number of Garou associates.
- The corporate entity known as Wu Sun Pacific.
Overwatch
A pack of Glass Walkers tied to the California Institute of Technology has been present since the 1950s, though its current iteration contains none of the founding members. They are aligned with the Sept (and respect Elder Wu), however their current missions rarely see them venturing outside of Pasadena due to informational and operational security protocols. Though all at their core are “nerds” and current and graduate students of the elite university (boasting a less than 4% acceptance rate with a 94% graduation rate), they consist of a diverse cast with a lean towards Asian-American males. Notably, they are one of the only packs to make heavy use of non-Kinfolk humans to assist them with their pack mission, treading the line of the Veil.
Totem: Clashing Boom-Boom
Territory: Caltech Campus, Pasadena
Tribe: Glass Walkers (Random Interrupts)
- Kim “David” Dae-hyun, Fostern Glass Walker Galliard
- Four other Garou
- A dozen tech-oriented Kinfolk and non-Kin humans
Rattlesnake
This pack roams the outskirts of the Angeles National Forest, hunting down the gangs of leeches who are travelling west through the San Gabriel Valley from San Bernardino. Indicated by their chosen totem, their membership consists of the more mystically-inclined members of the Uktena who descended from ones who arrived decades ago with Isabel “Star-Eyes” Moon. The pack is colloquially called the Rattlesnake Pack; their true name is in their own native tongue, and is spoken only among the members of their tribe.
Totem: Rattlesnake
Territory: Angeles National Forest, North San Gabriel Valley
Tribe: Uktena
- Five Garou
Hummingbird
This pack roams the numerous canyons and passes between Orange County and San Gabriel, hunting down the gangs of leeches who are travelling west from San Bernardino. Indicated by their chosen totem, their membership consists of the more warlike members of the Uktena who descended from ones who arrived decades ago with Isabel “Star-Eyes” Moon. The pack is colloquially called the Humming Pack; their true name is in their own native tongue, and is spoken only among the members of their tribe.
Totem: Hummingbird
Territory: Chino Hills, South San Gabriel Valley
Tribe: Uktena
- Seven Garou
The People of Watts
A pack of fiercely independent Bone Gnawers who have held the region of Watts since the days of social unrest surrounding the Watts Riots in 1965, and only grew as the decades passed with more social upheaval. The height of the 1980s crack epidemic and gang warfare solidified a power base of supportive Kinfolk, and the pack’s power reached its peak in the wake of the Rodney King riots of 1993, when they were successful in binding the local avatar of the Incarna of Social Movements. They’ve earned a level of infamy for being staunchly (if not violently) opposed to involvement with the Glass Walkers, reinforced in the late 1990s by the rise of the Glass Walker Elder Gideon Wu. Mortal institutions have classified the pack and associates as a “gang”, though they are given the same wide berth as the Sept’s designation.
Totem: The People
Territory: Watts, South LA
Tribe: Bone Gnawers (The Hood)
- Dontrell “Teeth-First”, Fostern Bone Gnawer Ahroun
- Five other Garou
- Several dozen non-combatant Kinfolk
Compton’s Crew
A pack of fiercely independent Bone Gnawers who have consistently held a shifting territory that includes the neighborhoods of Compton and Willowbrook. Known for their consistent harassment of Endron Oil’s headquarters in neighboring Carson, the number of Garou has always fluctuated owing to the inevitable losses of constant warfare with the Wyrm; however, they have a robust number of Kinfolk who strive to match their Garou siblings in martial prowess and guerilla tactics. They’ve earned a level of notoriety for their steadfast refusal of intervention or inclusion in the Children of Gaia-led Sept of the Smiling Angel, though are notably less aggressive than their siblings of Watts.
Totem: Rat (Rat God)
Territory: Willowbrook-Compton, South LA
Tribe: Bone Gnawers (The Swarm)
- Keshawn “Newblood”, Cliath Bone Gnawer Ragabash.
- Four other Garou
- A dozen militant Kinfolk
Ronin Regions
These packs do not claim membership with any Sept or Protectorate, and have only the most tenuous ties with the Bone Gnawers ideologies (that are likely the product of their birth, rather than their active associations).
Newport Beach
Rumors surround the pack as being one of the only group of Ronin to have earned the patronage of a Totem, they are as territorial as the Southlands Bone Gnawers and violently refuse any outreach from the nearby Sept of the Smiling Angel. Not that there is any outreach; the sheer distance between the Newport Beach area and Downtown Los Angeles makes any contact with them impractical. The dangers of the freeways does not end once one leaves Los Angeles, and the lack of active Garou patrols only lets the ‘natural’ threats run unchecked.
Totem: Gull (rumored)
Territory: Newport Beach
Tribe: Bone Gnawers (Ronin)
- An unknown number of Garou
Anaheim
Los Angeles is the southernmost Sept of California; once one reaches Orange County, the ‘wild west’ of the Nation truly begins, where the line between Ronin and Wyrm starts to blur together, as far as the wider Nation is concerned. Anaheim has been a hotbed for Lost Cubs who have never seen a proper Rite of Passage; the Garou who call this region home have loosely banded together out of sheer survival, centered around Disneyland Park.
Territory: Near Disneyland, Anaheim
Tribe: Ronin (Bone Gnawer-associated)
- An unknown number of Garou
